That the majority of darkpsy has nothing to do with Satanism or horror is not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of fact. For example, here are 10 darkpsy albums 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10. They weren't cherry-picked by me; I just looked at the Goastore front page, and added every darkpsy album there to the list. There were only 9, so I also added the first darkpsy album I saw in the "customers who bought this product also purchased" box. Of the 10 albums, one has artwork that is either Satanic or horror-themed. Another has the word "death" in the title. The rest have nothing whatsoever to do with Satanism or horror. With regards to freedom of expression, of course you are free to post your ill-informed opinions to psynews, just as I am free to point out how ill-informed they are. Yes, a single example definitely proves that all darkpsy is Satanic. Much like the track titles on this album prove that all Goa trance is horror-themed. But maybe that was just an unfair example, right? I had to pick an obscure Goa album that nobody has ever heard of to prove my point. Are there any other Goa trance albums with horror titles or horror samples? I can only think of other esoteric releases that you probably don't know about, like this.

Well, there are certainly a few darkpsy artists and labels that make Satanic/horror-inspired stuff, just as there were some old-school Goa acts that did likewise. They're a small minority in both cases. But just like the "darkpsy is random" meme, the "darkpsy is Satanic" thing got made up by some ignorant fuck and has since been repeated ad infinitum by other ignorant fucks.

In fact the artwork, track titles and samples are overwhelmingly more likely to deal with the same themes as old-school Goa (e.g. psychedelic drugs/ sci-fi/ Eastern spirituality) than with anything related to Satanism or horror. Do you know anything about the genre at all? Do you enjoy publicly broadcasting your ignorance?

Sure, and this applies to Goa trance (for example) as much as darkpsy (e.g. I would guess that the various swooshing sounds in this involved either a random or pseudo-random process to make them), so it makes no sense at all to single out darkpsy as being somehow more random than any other psytrance subgenre.

I don't conclude that darkpsy isn't random from scientific proofs or studies. I conclude that it isn't random in the same way that you, as someone who reads English, conclude that the text you're reading right now consists of meaningful sentences rather than a string of randomly-generated ascii characters. Imagine if people who were unable to read English were in the habit of claiming that all English text is random. Do you think that would reflect well on those people? That's a very clever ruse, well done. But why was it necessary? I mean, didn't you write "...and no it would not annoy me to see a comment about music I like, because people are entitled to experience it in their own unique way..."? But you didn't say that you perceived darkpsy as random (which would have been a statement about you, not about darkpsy); you said it was random. It isn't. But you didn't say it sounded random to you. You said it was random. It isn't. Wait, you like racist music?

For once, I agree completely.

It means the ability to discern the intentions/patterns/rules which led an artist to choose to play the specific sounds he or she chose, in the specific order he or she chose to play them. In other words, the ability to tell the difference between an arrangement of noises which is random and an arrangement of noises which isn't (such as most darkpsy).
