    Filmz Update

Holy Moly Apparently Darren Aronofsky was working on a new Robocop film. Now he isn't. Shame.
  2. I'd pay to see a fight between Robert Cop and Specialman.
  3. Went to my friend's nephew's Christening today.
  4. Those knockoff products are unbelievable.
  5. Simple to do, yes, but not necessarily simple to do well. IMO nobody has done it as well as KDD did on his first album, and many have surely tried. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzVr5FiVxwU
  6. What is darkpsy trying to be that it is not?
  7. Sorry, my bad. cliiick Maybe this is more deadpan sarcasm, but... you know the link supports karan129, right?
  8. Pretty sure that's not what Einstein meant.
  9. Funnily enough, I think the three albums that followed these (Amber, Chiastic Slide, Untilted) are way better. Though I gather a lot of people hold Draft in high regard, never understood it myself.
  10. I don't recognise the track, but that's Michele Adamson doing the vocals at the end - if you can be bothered to go through this list you may find what you're looking for.
  11. @D-Dave: you're right that there was a lot of music that could be described as "dark psychedelic trance" before what we call darkpsy came along, but I think the question was about the modern subgenre - whether you think the name is appropriate or not, the fact is that it's useful to have a name for the recognisably distinct trend that people like Parasense started, and for better or worse the name darkpsy has stuck. Battle of the Future Buddhas.
  12. While it used to be rare for darkpsy tracks to exceed 155, it's pretty common nowadays (since around 2008 I guess). The title track off Psykovsky's last album is 174, for example, and the last track off KDD's last album is 164.
  13. I don't know much about the history, but as to how darkpsy was created, to me it's always sounded like a pretty natural progression from some of the psytrance that was around before. If you listen to an album like The Lone Deranger there are melodic elements and there are atonal noise elements; a lot of new-school Goa is what you get if you take the melodic elements, ignore the rest and build from that, whereas darkpsy is what you get if you take the atonal noise elements, ignore the rest and build from that. As to when and where it was created, I have the impression that this had a lot to do with it, though I welcome correction from someone who was there when it happened (I didn't get into psytrance until 2003, by which time Parasense were making darkpsy that could easily pass for something made in 2011).
  14. Indeed! Especially Chiastic Slide, probably my favourite album of all time.
