Ormion and I have volunteered to count votes manually, so I don't think there's any need (and given the number of voters we've had in previous years I would guess that assembling a database of all possible releases for both polls would be a lot more work than just counting votes anyway).

I'm not familiar with Near the Parenthesis, but upon listening to some stuff on YouTube I would say that including it is fine1. Beatless ambient can certainly be included if it's by an artist who's considered part of "the scene"; I guess a good rule-of-thumb is that if one of the big psytrance shops (psyshop, saiko, beatspace, goastore) sells it then it qualifies. 1 It's bloody good, too, so thanks for asking.
