  1. Nice list, I'm glad I'm not the only one here who likes the Highcosmos album. Personally though I think a best of 2006 thread is kind of pointless until at least half way through 2007... I find I have to own an album for a long time before I can really give a meaningful opinion on how good it is, and most of my absolute favourite albums ever are ones I didn't like the first few listens (in some cases I'd owned the album for about a year before I came to realise how good it is). Also I freqently encounter good albums that I never heard of until years after they were released. With that in mind, it seems like a good time to ask: What are people's favourite psytrance albums of 2005? Karmageddon for me.

Not sure if it will work, but you could try this link. In my (admittedly brief) websearch I found a few other places that seemed to be selling tickets for the same venue on the same night, but the tickets were cheaper and didn't mention Autechre, so maybe you need a different ticket to get to where Autechre will be playing. Hope that helps
  3. I haven't bought any stinkers myself this year, since I tend to listen to clips on saikosounds a fair bit before buying stuff, but based on reputation this must qualify for a "worst of 2006" list: The Next Generation

Well naturally it won't be to everybody's taste... I suggest you use your favourite P2P software to look for a couple of tracks, "Cipater" and "LCC", and see what you think of them. I reckon they sit nicely on the boundary of being accessible enough for newcomers, and interesting enough to be considered vintage AE. (I'm sure plenty of people will disagree though, funny thing about Autechre is that there is really nothing approaching consensus as to what is their best work)
  5. I'm not sure that I know what bassline it is that people are discussing... can someone give an example or two of a track that uses it?

Depends what one's after. If you like ambient check out Amber, if you want challenging psychedelic stuff get Chiastic Slide, Confield, EP7 or Peel Sessions 2. If you want fast, complicated rhythmic stuff, get Cichlisuite or Gantz Graf. All are excellent IMO.

I'm a massive AE fan but I'm inclined to agree with you, I find Tri Repeatae doesn't hold my attention at all compared to their other stuff. You should definitely get hold of something else by them if you wish to know how good they are.
  8. Just stumbled across this link while browsing old threads. Eurgh. I think I need to go shower after watching that.
  9. Here's a list of some of my faves, don't expect many people to agree with them but it's just my taste: IM - Release Me IM - Return of the Shadows Talpa - Kalashari Kindzadza - Nature Grow Kindzadza - Furiya Kruchiya Dark Nebula - Dark Nectar Total - Mr Fingers Shpongle - Star Shpongled Banner
  10. Can anyone point me to online shops that sell psytrance tracks to download? There are loads of tracks I want on albums I don't want, and iTunes is a bit shit for psy. PS sorry if this has been asked and answered many times before
  11. Here's a photo I took on a recent trip to Japan:
  12. Has anyone heard Dark Nebula's "Dream Fuel"?
  13. I agree the samples sound nice...ugly cover though
  14. I think my favourite promo text is that for Dominator's album Paranormal Connection. Here it is: Debut album Dominator "Paranormal Connection" is new wave of dark psychedelic music for special act of dance-meditation. Fantastic combination of Power of new generation of sound, extraterrestrial vibes and very peculiar "dusky" lyric. The album is addressed to all fans of unusual rigid psychedelic music,to all admirers of deep night sound high quality and as well to all travellers,naturalists,experimentators&psy-hooligan. Just 70 minuts digital&analog impulses do ultrafast paranormal connection with another one reality. Ultraviolet sun, digital matrix cod is on the ocean water and NOTHING USUAL!People can fly!People can fly on The plane with the jet engine!
  15. Artax - Greetings From Psychaosis. Just because it was the first track I listened to after my last exam, having spent a year working extremely hard getting a masters.
  16. Sum 41 I think [feels ashamed of self for knowing that]
  17. I think that "Hardcoresmen of the Technopalypse" is one of the best band names I have heard.
  18. It is indeed Japanese writing, katakana to be precise... it's a phonetic alphabet they use to transliterate western words. Says roughly "u-i-ji no-i-su" which is the closest they can get to Wizzy noise. [Feels smug]
  19. Just got this today. According to iTunes, it's "easy listening"
  20. Hey I really don't think the RR cover is that bad... some of the doodles are pretty nice, and I'd much rather look at that than, say, this: I mean, for crying out loud. Piss-yellow text on a shit-brown background? WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?
