First listen, I wasn't overly impressed with the more progressive nature of some of these tunes when compared to Vol. 1, but after a few plays: Wow! It's an excellent album. More of a slow-burner, but often I find the less-direct, in-your-face albums last longer before you tire of them. Good one Zion604!

Been playing this a lot lately and it really is the business! Can never have enough Shakta / Somaton tunes in your collection. Shakta's Silicon Trip was one of the first Goa CDs I bought and I've been a big fan of all Seb's work since.

I wanted to like this album - the first CD sounds decent enough and there are some good tracks (although very much to the cheesy end of my tastes) on CD 2, but the naff guitars on Gajin Rocker and the appalling vocals on Tune Up mean it's a non-starter for me and I won't be buying it.

This Spacehopper party in 1996, for several reasons. The weekend before, I'd been to the "Big Love" outdoor party, by the organisers of Tribal Gathering, but it was a big let-down. It never really took off and the volume was so low that the atmosphere was ruined. Back home at Spacehopper - all my friends were there, the atmosphere and music were amazing and I got together with a lovely little lady who's now my wife. Next up - Cosmo Festival 2012. Just the best line-up. All my favourite styles of psytrance (other than Goa). ...And I got to meet the big guy! Last one - Suntrip 10 years Party, Trancendance Nottingham. Fantastic to have some proper Goa Trance back in the UK, plus I met a few people off here...

I have the same problem, even with just the CDs I buy. I kind of use that as a filter and only buy music that's comes out on CD - not bothering with downloads (even free ones), but even so, there's so much music I love, there aren't enough hours in the day to do it all justice. I've had to try to cut down on the albums I buy and just get ones I really like, rather than buying releases for the sake of completeness, but it's difficult! When I can, I'll make notes of the best tracks ( worthy of having a mix with, ) while having a good listen, but more often than not, I'm doing something else while the music is playing.

Nothing different or particularly involving there. Not bad, but I'm not excited.

I love it! - Have to listen a few more times before I can say much more than that though!

More psy than Goa, but here's some utter garbage: I mean - really - they're just embarrassing.

I like both too. But the second one more so. (Might not have worded my post above clearly enough.) Some of the tracks remind me of the Dragonfly Records sound from the late 90's, where the melodies were less evident and the BPMs dropped. I like that style a lot.

I like this album a lot, better than Scandi #1 I think. Some great tracks on here.

Hey, absolutely! I totally agree there. I just think it can come across as being a bit pretentious to go too crazy to your own tunes. To be fair, I prefer humble musicians to rock star types in all kinds of music. A knowing smile does more for me than any amount of posturing. Maybe it's a cultural thing too. In Israel for instance, they seem to love the stage antics and hero-worshipping, fist-pumping stuff, where I think a lot of Europeans find it a bit cringe-worthy. (But saying that, psytrance is WAY more mainstream in Israel - so maybe that has something to do with it?)

I agree with that part - but as they are "practically opposite" practices, I don't see why they should be compared. One is training yourself to use dance as an artform - the other is letting yourself be carried along with tribal rhythms to enduce a blissful state of trance. Both have their place IMO.

As far as the video in the original post goes - yeah, that's way o.t.t! Not what I want to see at all (or hear!) The way I look at it, going mental to your own music is more of an ego trip than a DJ getting carried away - at least the DJ is celebrating his love of other peoples' work and sharing it, hoping to get the crowd to love the music too. Going nuts to your own tunes is a bit too rockstar, "aren't I awesome?" (I'm aware this view may not be universally accepted. )

Dancing to psytrance is about feeling the music and reacting to it however it takes you. It's about freedom to move how you please, not to strut your stuff and impress with stylish moves. It makes no difference if drugs are involved or not. I think the point is being missed here - or maybe just trolling...
