How about the new album from Burn In Noise? Superb tunes and pretty "full-on" to my mind.

Shivadelics was great! Seemed to go pretty much unnoticed, but I thought it was a top compilation!!!

I'm from the UK, so it may be no surprise to learn that I prefer UK Psy / Goa. If we're talking just about the parties back in the 1990s, I've no experience of Israel, but can safely say that the likes of Spacehopper in Birmingham where I was a regular and Return To The Source, London, were about as awesome as a trance party can get!

I don't think they're doing themselves any favours by releasing so many CDs. I like quite a lot of their releases tbh, but can't afford to buy all the ones I'd like, as well as everything I want from other labels! You hardly get time to give one comp. a good airing before Vol.2 is hitting the market! It's good that they offer a variety of styles and do it well in the main, but one bad thing I've noticed of late (especially on Heart Of Goa Vol.2) is that I've already got some of the tracks on other releases of theirs. I don't mind so much if they are giving you a taste of an artist by including a tune of their album - it might encourage you to buy it, but having the same track on more than one V.A. is a bit lame.

What is so great about Psytrance festivals?
franki replied to Robbelaar's topic in General Psytrance
I've never understood people who do that. They could have done that at home and saved themselves the price of a ticket. The music is the no.1 draw for me. People make the festival, but I'd only go if I liked the acts playing. -
V.A Three Om Three | Anjuna Records | ANJUNACD004

Played it a few times now and it's a winner for sure! -
Are some people confusing "boring" with just stuff they don't like? For me it's prog of the Iono & Iboga records type. It just holds no interest for me at all. I can't hear any real content that grabs my attention. I'd rather listen to decent tech-house or minimal techno. I used to think Zenonesque prog was even more boring, but must admit, after seeing Sensient at Cosmo Festival, I've changed my mind. I find it a bit tedious for home listening, but it's great as daytime festie music when cranked up loud.

That! I don't like the yob element at many other festivals. The lairy drunks - shouting and intimidating people. It makes me uncomfortable and I can't relax. I don't have anything against people having a drink (I do myself,) but I don't see why you need to behave like a football hooligan. -

What is the worst goa/psy album you've ever listened to?
franki replied to Ormion's topic in General Psytrance
Probably the worst I've bought is Asia 2001 - Contact. Apart from the Overdream remix it's awful. Sounds like a collection of studio out-takes from over the years. Some of the worst vocal samples I've ever heard and the production is very inconsistent. -
Very sad. A genuinely talented and unique artist.

Do you give your music the attention it deserves?
franki replied to trancedigital's topic in General Psytrance
I do find doing justice to all the albums I buy a problem. I love pretty much all genres of Psytrance, let alone chill, techno and any other music I like. This means I struggle to keep up with being able to: a ) afford all the new releases I want and b ) devote enough time to listening to all the music I buy. The fact that I only ever buy music on CD cuts down what's available somewhat, but at this moment, there are about 45 titles I want and another ten at least, will be released before the end of June. There's so much great psytrance currently being released IMO, that I rarely get chance to catch up on buying back-catalogue music. There are six albums out this week alone that I MUST HAVE!!! I try to listen to new purchases a few times, but not so often they get stale, but I get distracted by old releases I haven't heard in a while and playing one album will often lead me to play all the albums by a particular artist or on a particular label! (I played the first 3 Free-Radical Records compilations last night for example.)I keep newer purchases in CD wallets so they're all together and to keep them in the forefront of my mind, before they head to their cases on the shelves. That way I've got all my recent purchases easily to hand. There aren't too many CDs I've bought and disliked enough not to play at least a couple of times. I'll sometimes leave one I'm not keen on for a few months and play it again to see if I still feel the same. Occasionally I change my mind. -
Here's my collection on Discogs (only Psy, Goa & chill included): http://www.discogs.com/user/Franki23/collection

I must admit, I'm interested in this release too and have also often found Electric Universe too cheesy-full-on for my tastes in the past. It's still more full-on than I'd normally buy, but a better example. Probably will purchase next payday!

Most months I guess I buy between 6 and 12 CDs..

I've got about 660 psytrance, Goa, psychill etc CDs. Probably about the same again for techno, house, D&B and other electronica. No idea how many CDs of other genres - a few hundred I guess.

Which Goa/NeoGoa artists have you seen live?
franki replied to Shpongled247's topic in General Psytrance
Hallucinogen Doof Juno Reactor Prana Shakta / Digitalis Medicine Drum Manmademan Total Eclipse Mammal Slinky Wizard X-Dream Lunar Asylum Eat Static MWNN Tribal Drift Technossomy Loads of DJs too, but you did say live... Most of those were back in the 90s, either at Spacehopper in Birmingham or at Tribal Gathering or Big Love events. We don't get much Nu / Neo Goa played out in the UK so I've not really seen any of the new breed of Goa artists. (But I'm looking forward to the Suntrip 10 Years Anniversary Party in Nottingham later this year!) -

It's a bit less involving than I expected, but pretty damn good all the same, IMO. -
An analysis of why Hallucinogen - "Twisted" is so great
franki replied to healium's topic in General Psytrance
That's what does it for me on Simon Posford's tracks - there are barely two bars the same. Almost as soon as a new idea is introduced it's being tweaked and altered, which adds a melting, liquid, trippy nature to the music. -
Do you do drugs while listening to psytrance?
franki replied to FatKidWitAJetPak's topic in General Psytrance
Not often these days. Once in a blue moon I might do some acid at a festival or outdoor party, but no "heroic amounts." My hedonistic days were in the 90s, where I'd take mainly E and sometimes LSD at parties, but I've got more responsibilities and less energy now! I'm glad I had those high-times, but I think it ran its course and I don't feel the need much anymore.
