Hypnagog is another moniker of Felix Greenlees alias Terrafractyl and he released a delicious EP on Ektoplazm. This track here is swingish, bleepy, bouncy, funky and - aah, listen by yourself. To me, this is like the soundtrack for a crazy carnival, or for those of you who know the Fusion - try to describe this festival with a track and find a better one. Listen loud, wear your clownsuit: https://soundcloud.com/adapted-records/hypnagog-carnivale-free-d-l"> https://soundcloud.com/adapted-records/hypnagog-carnivale-free-d-l" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="100%"> Download

hi people, back from a nice short trip through the island. really enjoyed the time there, i'm sure i will return some time. sicily is simply beautiful, diverse, inspiring, and somehow underground - even if the tourist economy spoiled some places and etnica live on another island. if you are interested, maybe i'll write a short review or post some pictures - we'll see

hi procyon, nice comment, but i think you made few generalizations, that i don't find justified. 1. the dualism or dichotomy of body / mind can be misleading as the dualisms of nature and nurture, good and bad or black and white. it suggests that there is either the one or the other. or that physical body is nothing without ethereal body. in fact, the two work together and are interconnected and intertwined, at least in our common perceptible world (take the case of paraplegia for example or the possibility of neuronal manipulation). what happens when you separate them - well, different cultures and different religions have different opinions about that - your mind or soul or ethereal body or whatever wanders to heaven or hell, or you're reincarnated in someone else, or you take part in a spiritual or astral world, while your physical body goes the way of decay. i agree with you, that the mind or spirit of oneself is way more powerful and influential in structuring everyday's life than the physical body, especially like it's seen in our rationalized disillusioned western world. but think about dichotomies. it's not only black and white. 2. to generalize all substances as hurting your mind or causing damage to your ethereal body is simply not true. it's true that you can reach different states of mind also through meditation, abstinence of food, water, air, or extreme sports or whatever and are caused by yourself and not through a certain substance. but that does not mean that substances per se are causing damage. biochemically they only add atomic compounds to others and cause certain physical or mental effects. while some of these effects can seriously damage your physical or mental health instantly or in the long-run, others can also have healing forces. especially when you take them in a certain setting with certain beliefs and under personal guidance. what are shamans doing since centuries, dealing with peyote, ayahuasca, marihuana, tobacco and i don't know what else. there are also lsd and mdma experiments with patients suffering from heavy mental illnesses which were quite successful. okay, you say every substance is intoxicating, hence everything you take - be it sugar, fat, caffeine, amphetamine, cannabinoids..., be it natural or chemical - may seriously harm your ethereal body. i say, humans are way stronger and tougher than you can think of. and natural substances are here for what they are. maybe they can kill humans, but not humanity.

I know that Tulaberry is already mentioned in some other threads, but since I love his music he should included here. His music is genre-crossing, melting psytrance, dubstep, minimal, progressive... or like he says himself: "sound can be described as progressive beats, munted basses and cracked out synths, certainly bringing something uniquely chronic to the dance floor". This track here is a perfect example for his definition of psystep - energetic, athmospheric, melodic and definitely unique. I recommend to listen this loud and to morph to it: Download Soundcloud Bandcamp

How can we make Psynews more active? Post your ideas/opinions.
Blubber replied to Ormion's topic in Psynews.ORG
don't we have already a section like this? of course you could make it more "attractive" or "visible", but i think with goabase there is already a site especially for this and i find it well done. party information and travel talk don't have to be visible for everyone and all the time. i think focusing in what were the first intentions of this forum are more helpful than expanding it over things that are already covered. what caught me here in the first place is also the review section which became quite thin over the years. what about to open it for guest users? CoLoUr DoTZ made some good proposals in this direction too. this could also be very helpful for the best of polls. in the end, the best way to attract more people is good-placed attractive advertising. cooperation with other psytrance or even other electronic music related forums, web pages, netlabels, artists .. could be helpful. -
I'm travelling through Sicily the next month and wondered if they have an active psy culture. I found nearly nothing through the Googlenet. Do you have any experiences or know anything about clubs, bars, parties? Would be nice to share some time with some psyheads there. Thanks in advance !!

Well, this track does not really fit to the before mentioned genres - it rather fits in the psychedelic trance section - but since it is a soundcloud discovery and this thread seems to be somehow unattractive i want to spice it up and post Crazy Astronaut's track here. This is fast, energetic and absolutely wicked. Bpm-wise it would be called darkpsy, but i found this the complete opposite of dark - let's say Lightpsy ??!? Listen loud and get sick: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68BrxrawIzA Download

Hi Tulpa !! You're right, i'm really diggin' Hedflux work. In another thread i linked the track i like most. So i'll add it here. Hedflux labels his music as Psychedelic Tech-Funk and that's exactly how it sounds. Here's a little cheesy track, but after a nice athmospheric intro it evolves into a kickass tune. Listen loud, clean your room: http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=AicVA3xikm8 Download Homepage

Behind the music - conceptualism in Goa trance
Blubber replied to Richpa's topic in General Psytrance
oh, and Zubzub's Primate i found quite conceptual too - a day in the life of a primate in the monkey jungle - not a serious concept but a really funky one -
Behind the music - conceptualism in Goa trance
Blubber replied to Richpa's topic in General Psytrance
i wouldn't mind if some sort of political-cultural content appears in psytrance if it would be done in a subtle and positive way. i think nobody wants to hear endless anti-war lyrics and statements, but comments about different kind of human organization, different state of mind, different approach to socio-cultural issues could be smartly used and i think you can already hear them in some songs - although i can't remember any at the moment the concept album which comes to my mind first is Talamasca's Zodiac even though i don't hear/feel too much connection between the tracks and their titles -
another great mars volta cover i really like classic hiphop cover with a story and this one i find simply AMAZING !!!
-
no, haven't listened to his solo output, although there's a shitload of it - but what i've heard and read is that it's not really comparable to the mars volta sound, very experimental stuff, sometimes unhearable. can you recommend some solo stuff? i also dig only the first two mars volta albums, missed some catchy hooks and prog-riffs in the later albums, although i never listened too much of their latest output.

Tech-Funk-Breaks-Hop-Step-Glitch-Dub-Swing-Core-Jungle-IDM and all with a psychedelic edge. Out there's so much funky music to discover that I sometimes surf Soundcloud for hours. I want to post here my discoveries that somehow fit into these categories. Or wait, let's make no limits genrewise here, but edgy and a grain of psy is appreciated (whatever that shall mean). Only one thing: the tracks are free! So it would be nice if you include the download link, that we have a promotional thread for Free No-Limit-Music. I start with one of the greatest tunes I discovered last year, listening to this regularly and always getting the chill! Style? Can't really describe, it's simply great. For those of you who don't know Tom Cosm - he seems to produce like every imaginable electronic music style easily. Listen loud, light a spliff: http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXQUTKvwr1M Download Homepage Another great artist I discovered through Soundcloud is Spectral Theory. He's producing mostly some kind of Psy-Tech-Breakbeat-Music. Listen loud, loosen your feet: http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7jI3aqO2Hk Download Homepage

So what do you think about the new Kindzadza?
Blubber replied to Ormion's topic in General Psytrance
haven't seen that -
can't recommend special releases cause i'm listening to the mixes most of the time, but hedflux music i found the best, especially this !!

So what do you think about the new Kindzadza?
Blubber replied to Ormion's topic in General Psytrance
yeah, i know - but that's not what i wanted to point at. since you can download through youtube it's almost a download link, isn't it? anyway, psynews threads without youtube vids seem to not work anymore, i know, but some patience wouldn't hurt i think - just a thought, not an accuse! back to topic: can't wait to get my hands on this release - thanks for making me curious, ormion -
i'm totally diggin these styles lately - they are much more evolving in the last years than let's say psytrance psy-influenced heavy breaks - Boken Robot Records crossover of various styles, a lot of new sounds to discover - Addictech Records also enjoyable - Ayra Recordings and one of my favourite artists, who somehow mixes all these styles in one album is Slackbaba - recommended: Perverting Mankind
-
Broken Robot Records - the name says it all !!
-
this is mars volta - frances the mute - a fantastic experimental-alternative-prog-rock album - my highest recommendations if you're into this kind of rock

Blubber replied to Ormion's topic in General Psytrance
don't you think it's a little bit over-the-top to youtube half the album shortly after the official release ??!? to topic: i'm also not that much into this darkpsy stuff, but this really sounds incredibly hot !!!!!!!! in my wantlist !! -
not that much into prog house but i enjoyed d-nox & beckers a lot, especially their latest album distance on their soundcloud page you can listen to a lot more of their stuff - live they are absolutely worth the time !!
-
multiplex records is a nice netlabel, lots of good stuff, i like cardiaca and forward most disco hooligans you might also like - free on ektoplazm before serbians dominated the progressive scene: element and haldolium - actually you find a lot more unique proggy stuff on spirit zone, free form and insolation two lovely albums: sound field - audio surfin, krama - terra nova http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuHVPVz6WfE
