Hey, just wanted to thank you for the Long Range recommendation, that "Maddness and me" album Rocks! I've been trying to find music like this for some time now.
-
The album has the same "guitar" short sample running in the background with the same layout for almost all of the tracks, whats up with that? It annoys the listener having to hear the same sound in the frequency throughout the whole album. It seems to be following the bassline in each track. The tracks Pandenomium, Stuck In The Walls, Moon Fishing seem to be made out of the same track but just prolonged and cut? Moon fishing is lower-tempo then the 2 but it sounds the same. The very same synths and sounds are used, with hardly any new sounds in each track, as well as repeated note compositions. The album really need better mastering on this one. The frequencies are all over the place, needs to be toned down a bit in the high-range. It causes ear fatigue over a period of time. I can't really give out a good review of this album yet, it's unbearable to listen to without eq-ing those high tones. I'll try to give it another shot, but so far this is unimpressive work.

Record labels... worst backstabbers ever.

whats your personal favorite format of music?
Malevol3nt replied to Anoebis's topic in General Psytrance
Well the thing with vinyl's is that it adds some 'warmth' to the sound. This may or may not be the effect you're looking for, and while it may work on some records, on others it may not be the desired effect. Well it's pretty much subjective and depends on the person who is listening to it if they like it or not. Personally, I like vinyl for old music like some jazz albums etc. But it doesn't work for me with new music, since there is a difference on how tracks were mastered back then and now. Adding this 'warmth' to a new album doesn't allways turn out to be desired. But again, this is totally subjective so while some people will like it, others won't. -

audiocd's are pressed in factories from a glass master. cd-r's are just home-made cd's burned with consumer cd burners. Other then that I wouldn't know and wouldn't care really.. -

Sometimes I prefer 192k over 320k. Most notably on ambient music that is too "clean" so to speak. Reducing the bitrate give's a bit of a 'dirty' feel to it, which works for me for particular tracks or albums. In all other cases tho it's 320k. -
Asio4all doesn't work!

Taken from wiki: Wtf? I thought they postponed it for 2009? Probs fake.. can't trust wikipedia.. Edit: you know what's funny? They've announced this album in 2005 for early 2006.. They better have some good excuse why this is taking so long.

Well you need to learn how to avoid reading between lines. As I mentioned before, I use the psynews reviews section to see what others have to say about an album/comp etc, rather then look at a 1 to 5 rating system which means nothing. Rankings don't waste much space, but your posts do. And they waste my time aswell. And drop the 'superior' attitude aswell. The only thing you're superior to is a 3-legged saliva eatin' chernobyl chicken. I'm not wasting my energy to read or reply to your posts anymore, chav.
-
Yeah a rating from 1 to 5 is really going to give you an impression of something. And I guess you don't listen to anything thats below rating 4? Have you ever heard of full reviews? There's a review section on this site if you didn't realize. There are reviews as long as 40+ lines which will give you at least some idea on what the music is like. But you will never know untill you experience the music yourself. You can't allways depend on other peoples taste in music. What I'm saying is you will probably miss out on some music that you could actually like. Because some music your friends will not rate 'high' and you will never give that music a chance, even tho you might of liked it.

Then my job here is done. Next topic plz!

U lazy little.. Nobody liked my Goa Gil sponsoring peanuts 'shopped pic? ....

Being objective and comparing to others? Standards? Well, you can rate a washing machine by a standard, EU has a few standards depending on how much the washing machine spends electricity, how loud it is, how effective it is etc.. There's no such thing as a 'standard' for music. What you're refering to is generalization of music, something which should be avoided. You think other artists and record labels are trying to achieve the same 'standard' as the 'competitor'? What a load of baloney. We're not dealing with cars here, it's music. Sure an artist and a record label will do it's best to improve themselves and their music. But if an artist is making an album and then comparing it to other commercial albums and thinking "that commercial album sounds a bit better, hmmm, what should i do? That album has alot of bass, my doesnt. I know, I'll put more bass in mine too!", then you'll end up with a copycat artist. And there are too many of them in the scene today anyway. Stop generalizing music into groups of "standards", because thats total bullshit. And stop caring about ratings anyway, there's samples to listen to and ultimately you can buy the album, then make your own opinion about the 'rating' of the music inside. Or just be blind (or better yet, deaf) and follow the ratings system, not taking your own experience into equation. Conclusion: FUCK RATINGS

Stand-alone versions are most likely to have midi learn function then vst versions in various vst's. It's not allways the case of course, like in the example of albino. I'm asking for your host name bacause maybe there's a quick way of midi learn functionality in it. Cheers. Edit: Well I've checked the manual, and I couldn't seem to find anything about midi learn there, even tho midi learn was announced as a feature before discovery was released. But I hope this helps, the MIDI CC Map: http://www.discodsp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=253

As far as I know discovery comes only in a vst/dx version right? No stand-alone? In most vst's there's no vst learn function, as programmers leave the linking to be done by the host. What host are you using?

I'd like to see a review of Jenna Haze - Lex The Impaler #3. Oh wait, am I in the right forum?
