Slightly Tribal Goa Track
CosmicEquilibrium replied to acid being's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
We both are pretty amateur at least you got some melody, what DAW you use? What synths?, do you any compressor in bass with sidechain in the kick and at the master channel any compressor to glue the tracks? you should too add some delay and reverb in the synths, if you want your sound good you need every single sound to have sound quality, the tom toms, hihats and the crash seems good, maybe some reverb in the drums except the kick leave it without any delay and reverb, I think you need a more standard kick and bass sound, there are no rules but a more standard kick and bass is what defines a Goa track, I think you need to work in the kick and bass. The way I make my bass is sawtooth in one oscillator a sine wave half the intensity, the filter low pass at 250 hertz max the a little resonance or none, the I experiment with one envelope at cutoff filter and other at the amplitude/Volume leave this one with a small attack and release.- 4 replies

Yep I still try to make psytrance and I have fun, I'm here to learn too, this version has better sound quality in my opinion, still need a lot of fine tuning in the arrangement and in automatisations, more drum patterns variations I will check it later, the track lacks of story and needs to make more sense, I will get into that later. Anyone can get Vital it's free and start to follow a lot a YouTube tutorials and sound generic and with good sound quality and non sense tracks full drops and what else, but for now I will keep the more old school sounding some distortion in synths may add some mystery to the tracks and I don't have any music theory, and I just have notions about synthesis, mixing and mastering and my creativity, if you use your creativity and build your own story in the tracks then you will start to develop your own style if you want I guess. Do you have some track of yours to share I would like to hear it

Just discovered on synth in Logic Pro much more suitable for oldschool psytrance then Retro Synth, the ES2, it sounds with a bit of dirt but I think it's fault of the reverb and delay quality and it sounds a bit repetitive and loopy I still have to work on that tell me what you guys think? And the drums were made with drum synth that some people say it's not very good, maybe I will replace it with samples later.

It sounds proper, without many elements, but sounds great with those arps and some music theory, now I have a question do you add compression in every element or only kick, bass and lead and in master channel? I updated my track again in my site now sounds more progressive raised the delay and reverb and compressed every elements it sounds better or worse? I'm asking about the sound quality not the arrangement that needs much work I know, The snare is too levelled up I noted that and about the overall sound quality?

As suggested I have changed the kick, the delay and a few more things to try make it sound better, if someone is interested to check it, I have uploaded the new version to the Goa(that now sounds progressive with alien sounds) track in the audio section in my site, thank you all for your opinion. If there are more suggestions just say it

You have an option from Roland the real creator of the classic https://www.roland.com/global/products/tb-03/ and more https://www.roland.com/global/promos/roland_boutique/ they have even releasing vst versions, don't waste all you money :|, about my track the bassline it's getting more full on then Goa I have that perception, another thing some people point out about releasing in the internet non finished work is that can cause bad image, but I'm just a hobbyist, I'm learning a want some opinions to improve and yes some people even talk bad about epic music and epic artists, I can buy some serum and get some template and see some YouTube videos, but I want to learn in my way to sound more creative and original with my own style.

Yep it need a lot more variations to get the track interesting and more elements, I'm trying now to improve the quality of sound experimenting with mixing and mastering, Then I will continuing changing the track, maybe I will add a proper TB-303 Like you can check in the audio section Goa(not in the video) I have added a bass amp effect and it now sounds better, it starts to stand out, now I wanna do the same with the leads and other elements. Thanks for your opinion. That's is exactly what I want to do now, how can I do it adding some distortion effect? I changed the bass, like you can check in the audio section Goa(Track) I have added a bass amp effect and it now sounds better, it starts to stand out, now I wanna do the same with the leads and other elements. Thanks for your tips
