  1. derailing well... yes.... but no. back then (i used these too, a LOT) internet speeds were ridiculous. it took me hours to get a single track. now everyone is pissed off if they d/l at only 1mbit or something now you dont only use it to discover new sounds, etc. but to establish a record collection larger than your average real life cd-shop. (you=anyone) /derailing on topic... i would see why someone would want to only BUY masterpieces. but cinos, you're talking about getting rid of so many cd's you've already bought. and i ask: HAVE U NO COMPASSION? (this question will self-destruct in case you need the cash)

  4. there is great music out there, apart from "psytrance". when goa appeared, all artists drew inspiration, etc by hearing all sorts of music. from rock to disco to early techno. now, imHo, most psytrance artists dont have such broad knowledge of music so they will hear really nice basslines (or any other element) somewhere else and mix what they hear with their style in their new productions. how many young producers are there who listen only to psytrance and psychill for the last 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10 years? i dont know, but i suspect a lot. you might say this is not true. well, it surely is very far from the truth concerning some people. but its true enough for others. we live in the epoch that we have trouble defining what "idm" is. because there is so diverse music in it. with influences from d&B, breakcore, industrial, trip-hop, etc, etc. but there is no trouble whatsoever in defining psytrance. it sounds the same. and its not "the new kind of music, very different from everything else", like goa was. personally, i have real trouble recognising any outside influence within the genre. maybe i'm being negative now, maybe its because i've stopped listening to psy the way i used to.. but i get the feeling psytrance is living in a bubble right now. how is innovation going to happen? (again, i havent heard all psytrance, there are exceptions, please tell me
  5. nice... i went to hear harris spin a few tracks in wunderbar (exarheia - athens) the other day. ideal chilled soundtrack to accompany my cold paulaner. its a pitty this is 500km away. a very good excuse for the bored generation not to show up btw, did any of you salonikioi go to the electronica events at helexpo? i didnt come, for the same reason.

  10. i hear ya. had this discussion with some people who make psy and are very inspired by floyd basically my friend can explain most early goa (esp. hallucinogen - a floyd freak for sure) in terms of pink floyd music.

  15. i've introduced something like 5 people. 2 of them still listen to the music, although they're not thaaaat fond of it. maybe, if the introduction took place in 1996 we'd all be in goa now also, a lot of people have been affected by the chill out music! styles like dub, electronica, prog. house are really popular, at least in my social circle. so the ears are ready for lets say asura.. same people will think this is a masterpiece while hating that absurd boom boom boom music.. my grandma said, while listening to finnish psy: "it feels like you're in a forest. it's nice"

  18. what would you consider "ololiqui - reverse engineering" ? i think it might fall under the prog style, in part or whole. so why not give it a listen?
  19. well.. when i listen to shpongle i recognise the simon p style throughout. its the same with other people. i dont know if raja was posing for simon and gave him inspiration or whatnot... but its difficult to see what his contribution (musicwise) was, except from playing the flute. BUT, i remember a link someone posted (nick inzo?) which detailed raja's involvement in a psy-rock band waaay back.. it seems like he actually has been involved in making good music for a long time, all this contradicting "popular thought". so.... i dunno!

  21. just for the record, i find it weird that in the few times i listened to this album i always skipped the first track - omg. mainly because i find that voice irritating.
