It's a great album..... In 2000, there was Atmos, in 2001 S-range and now in 2002 Matenda ! I think people who fell Matenda's album boring don't really like swedish sound. It's not because it's the same style that 2 or 3 other albums in the history of the music that it's bad !!!! You have to re-listen to this album ! :-) Peace

Matenda - Energy Loader Artist: Matenda Title: Energy Loader Label: Spiral Trax Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. 10'39" Welcome Sunshine 02. 08'24" Adverse Selection 03. 09'04" Creative Destruction 04. 09'02" Energy Loader 05. 08'31" Free Rider 06. 08'17" You Can Run But You ... 07. 09'55" Faros 08. 10'32" Lipo Mare Review: Debut album from Denis Matenda. A swedish guy with croatians parents. After releasing some stuff on various compils, here it is his album on the Gothenburg based label : Spiral Trax. First track, "welcome sunshine" is a typical swedish progressive sound as Atmos or S-Range can do... very nice ! Track 2, "Adverse Selection" is more morning sound but always with this swedish touch plus some Goa flavours...great ! T 3 " Creative Destruction" (at this moment you should be dancing with the smile :-) is a good progressive track, with a groovy and rather fast rythm. Reminds me a bit Klein Aber Doctor. Track 4 , "Energy Loader" is first half, more dark and more minimal than the previous tracks. Then come a morning melody....not the best track of the album. T 5 " Free rider" has nice synthe sounds, very positive and lighty. Track 6, " You can run but you ..." ;-) has less this scando touch, a different track from the others.. T8, "Faros" is a great track..the rythm is not very fast but very powerfull....an hypnotic track ! Last track, " Lipo Mare" is a nice mid-tempo track. If you like Atmos, S-range or Vibrasphere, you will like Matenda ! His album is one of the highlight of the begenning of this year 2002. He can make positive stuff, very lighty or more dark, more minimal. A perfect sound for the dance floor. No doubt scando sounds is one of the best, and congratulations to Spiral Trax label for releasing Matenda album ! Rating : 8,5/10 ( or 9 ?)

V/A - Electronic High Artist: Various Title: Electronic High Label: Solstice Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 06'52" Electric Tease : Let's Rock 02. 08'05" Synthetic : Cosmos 99 03. 08'08" Sonic Fusion : Tokyo 04. 06'31" Etnica : Dominator 2000 05. 07'54" Tripiatrik : Solstice 23 06. 08'54" Eat Static : Holy War 07. 05'28" Genetic : Acid Reign 08. 06'43" Koxbox : Seven Cells 09. 06'25" N-Tropic : Over Dub Review: This is the first release from Solstice, a new japanese label. Solstice organise famous psytrance festivals and parties in Japan. First track is Electronic tease with " let's rock"..a very techno influenced track, you will like it if you like Atomic style or Nitrox album from Etnica. Second Track is Synthetic ( aka Deedrah) with "Cosmos 99"...as usual with synthetic a very strong bass as The Delta could do. A very powerfull track, as good as "the mummy" Track 3 is Sonic Fusion with "Tokyo"..it starts with a japanese sound then a techno repetitive melody...too much techno feeling for me ! I find it quite boring and too comercial. Track 4 is Etnica with " Dominator 2000"...a track that could have been in Nitrox Album....a little bit too minimal, but as usual with Etnica new style, it must be played lound to enjoy. Track 5 is "Solstice23" from Tripiatrik. This is the project from Pap's and Pea from Yumade.. If you like the french minimal sound leaders, you will enjoy. Otherwise you will hate this track....but don't start a flame war here.....this is the Tripiatrik usual style. Track 6 is " Holy War " from Eat Static. An oriental feeling for this psychedelic ambient track in the first half. It could have been a Toires track ! I heard it in a party without knowing it was an Eat Static track...amazing. The second part of the track is more psytrance Hallucinogen style ( !) but always with this oriental touch. Very interesting track because very original. Very psychedelic as Shpongle can be but with the Eat Static own style. Great great track, a must have ! Track 7 is Genetic with " Acid reign". A nice track with a good groovy rythm..and the classical genetic High-Hats !! Track 8 is " Seven cells" from Koxbox. There was aslo a " Six cells " on the Koxbox's " Great Unknown" album. " Seven cells" is a remix from " Six cells"...maybe a little bit more minimal but there is not a lot of change between the 2 ! Anyway, good track. Last track is N-Tropic with " Over dub", a mid-tempo track. Interesting. So, this compilation is very techno influenced as some Atomic compilations can be. Synthetic, Eat Static, Koxbox and N-tropic tracks are the best ones. The rest is not great, but always nice except Sonic Fusion track wich is not good. Rating : 7/10

Padmasana - Padmasana Artist: Padmasana Title: Padmasana Label: Dakini Date: 1999 Track listing: 01. 12'19" Be Where Now 02. 11'08" A Distant Star 03. 18'20" Holistic Resonance Review: Padmasana is Japanese band with Makyo, an already well known name in the ambient world and David Hikari and S.Widi. This album is a trip to Bali island in Indonesia....you will find some traditional asian instruments recorded live at Bali with some beautiful synthetic layers. First track, "be there now" starts with a nice mid-tempo rythm and very sweet synthe pads. Perfect track to wake up ! Very positive and happy. reminds me a bit some Talvin Singh music. Second Track, " A distance star", starts more softly with nice synthe loops, beautiful women vocals. It's like being in a nice dream...so quiet ! In the second half of the track, you will find Asian acoustic instruments..that fits very well with the synthetic layer of the song. Last track, " Holistic resonance " bring you in the Balinese forest the night. All is very sweet, soft and nice. Then noises become sounds that become rythms. What an harmony ! The whole track is flowing like a peacefull river becoming larger and faster... it ends with a night forest ambience recorded live in Bali. This album is very beautiful and very relaxing. A little bit too short..please Dakini Records, release a second part to this ! :-) Rating : 9/10
