we could all do with an apology from you here, hothead -
can't believe i forgot to mention nirvana, that was a huge influence, i've been into grunge for quite a while but can't remember any groups or tracks... all that springs to my mind is 'you know you're right' from nirvana, one of their greatest tracks. still, that Miro song in the first post sums it all up pretty nice. Melancholic/nostalgic ALL the way Squarepusher - Journey to Reedham (7 a.m. mix)

meh different styles, been there done that, only in the odd case out it works (one time i had a fullon mix with a chillout break in the middle) but more than one alternative track to the style i wouldn't go, and yes, crowds only want harder and more the longer the party goes on, somehow i can understand this. you come to a (goa)party to freak out and get rid of the stress and frustration from society, so yes, a heavy discharge has to be present in the form of abominative megalomania psy. I as well (i'm mostly active on the oldschool goa parties here) am mostly not pleased with the tracks other djs play, they just play fullon power goa like Ra and other tracks that never stop. I'm the only one in the belgian scene that would pop in the odd infected mushroom track (i played never never land on an open air party this summer, this was right after a heavy track so my set totally lost power and drive, but the people still seemed to be very entertained (luckily:p) guess i took the right chilled track to put in between. but as soon as it got a bit to the end the pounding retook. not to mention the totally retarded dark scene (worldwide?) here in belgium, there are djs here who play sets from 180 bpm to 200 bpm, totally no ideas or inspiration, just the bpm that counts as 'psychedelic factor'. haha, if i ever hear this at a party i'd first laugh my ass of and then go and offer the djs some beers of own conception!

heh, it'll always be the blues for me! :drama: 0>11 radio music+classical music 11>15 radio music, metallica, iron maiden, machine head, house techno trance hardcore, i discovered it all in these years, by 15 slipknot and the likes+the amazing discovery of jazz music and the interbellum period music (bebop, soul, gypsy etc etc) 15>now discovered goa and many many more such as ambient drone, idm and all those modern offsprings

u coined something like "psychedelic" but then in terms of reproducing the same type of psychedelic trance over and over again! "psy paste" Hail devious!!!

just found a track i haven't heard since ages, i remember when i was 12-13 something i heard it for the first time from the techno tapes from my older brother who used to record live and dj sets from the fuse in brussels broadcasted live on the radio. some of that stuff was really SICK imho, not in terms of brutal dance music but in terms of melancholic and emotional passages, this techno music, its so simple, some beats, percussion and a few leads, so direct. i remember some ken ishii dj set or live set with tracks that were really out of reality with strings like a majestic ascent to heaven or something and there is one killar live set by dave angel in summer '99 that will always remain in my memory, with passages so beautiful you could easily cry the track i'm talking about here really made a big impression on me, the melody is so simple but the feeling is just right, like trance blues, it's not real techno it's cherry moon stuff, so techno with clubtrance feel. stuff like this sticks inside my head for ages, in goa its all not to the point, this track really is. I remember back then i was really thinking that music was the greatest thing around and that i hoped to do something in music one day, not having any clue about music production or anything of the likes yet. man this melancholic tune is so cool :drama: Miro - Purple Moon
