Monastiraki area is the place for hunting no?
-
I had the time of my life in Munich. A particular shop, CD-BÖRSE, advertises itself as Jazz & Classical store but has a basement full of used Goa/Psy CDs. No wonder or rarity in Germany though. The second time of my life I had it in Athens. The third time of my life in London. Loving Drum & Bass, it's obviously a haven. Unfortunately cash wasn't unlimited But I found Cosmosis 1st and 2nd album for 9 UK pounds total Brand new and filed under "bargains" And speaking of Psy/Goa, London shops didn't impress me. Or may be I was in the wrong places? But my purchases where Jungle/D&B mainly.

I really want to know from you got this figure Joske. I have a copy of Implant magazine from mid-1998 with an advert of Sister Ray, a shop in Soho, London, which is still open. This advert is a whole page of psy-goa CDs and vinyl, I mean an incredible merchandise list but probably nothing rare back then. Included in this massive list is also Transdimensional CD selling for £12.99, with the LP selling for £12.49. Now, if this CD was released in mid-1997 and in a time when 1000's of each Goa CD was pressed and sold how could a CD pressed in only 500 copies still be selling a year later in that shop?

What an irony

The Lotus Omega album used to sell for €10-15 or so up to some time ago. This album gained more attention after the Crop Circles CD was released. As soon as there was none for sale someone listed it for €100 and the others followed suit.

Well the topic title was "Classic albums" so one has to agree on what is a classic or not. Accidental Occidentalism is just a compilation not album; we haven't seen compilations being re-released, only a mix by Goa Gil which the original isn't a rarity after all. Chances that most of these albums will be re-released are extremely remote IMO. Remember some time ago there was a rumour Avatar bought the Dragonfly rights? Doesn't seem to have been true. The biggest hope is still always Avatar though; DAT records mission is to release "the unreleased", so at best it will release a "classic" plus a second CD with unreleased. We already saw it happening with BPC. Suntrip released Transdimensional, arguably the most overpriced one back then, but that was only a one time incidence because artist RA works with Suntrip too. Don't want to sound negative but can't imagine anyone in these times venturing up into setting a label purely to release overpriced sought after albums. The licensing headache and the costs far outweigh potential sales. BTW: speaking of (for a change ) of I.F.O. it has been made available digitally. Still, the legality seems unclear according to discogs history.

Can't get the topic. What pre-2000 releases are you talking about? If it's about the first Pleiadians album, the Sunimo album or Accidental Occidentalism compilation I can understand, but if you want to build a decent collection of pre-millennium tracks compilations like Goa-Head, Pulse, Distance To Goa, Destination Goa and Tantrance are very easily accessabile. You can't go wrong with these. Similarly, at least 90% of the most glorious artist albums are still very easily accessable and humbly priced. Astral Projection, Hallucinogen, Total Eclipse and Infected Mushroom to mention very basic 4 are still cheap.

Well guys, these things have been happening in all styles of electronic music since the dawn of it. If you follow other kinds of music you know what I mean. Often it happens that someone buys the license and so he can do whatever he wants with the tracks. If he markets them as "new" I don't think he's breaking any rule or trying to deceive customers - after all when you buy something is up to you to do some research beforehand. The resources are there to use and are free. You can easily check discogs as explained already.

Good music but the MP3's I downloaded from the sendspace link on the UAF website are suddenly cut, or better explained the tracks finish abrubtly. Were the tracks really finalised that way ? -
Not sure Colin, how Cosmosis himself would have known within moments about this. His known account on discogs is inactive; does he has an account here with which he pops in each day ? Hardly.

I can see only a dot were the images are supposed to be. The days before they were visible. Hope it wasn't Zen who removed them

Pete, the images you posted have vanished.

You deleted the thread also on discogs, why?
-
It's simply 1 of those CD's which are over-fancied for some reason. The title maybe ? Or the Doctor Acid and Bell Size Park's tracks which are taken from their (again) futally overwanted and nothing special albums ? Go figure...

Well but Pete, spending a €100+ for a CD and wanting to save on postage by removing jewelcase ? [josephschembri@discogs]
