    V/A - Fahrenheit Project 2

The second project sounds much much better than the first one. I fell in love with most of the tracks immediately. Some thoughts: 1/ Robert Rich - Somnium (intro) - a beatless intro. 5/5 2/ Solar Fields - Electric Fluid - sounds much better than what i heard from him on first compilation. Atmosphere is liquidy and very relaxing. A huge build-up with SF's trademark melody is simply magnificent accompanied by 303's Stunning track and the beginning of the whole compilation. 5/5 3/ Vibrasphere - San Pedro - it starts off with a melody, straight bassline and didge-samples vibrating here and there - awesome. Then guitars follow - not the fast electric ones - but soft and slow ones - the strings only not the riffs. B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. 5/5 4/ Khetzal - Glaciales Lacrimae - the most mesmerizing beginning of all with its trancey pads and echoing percussion - then it all develops along the vortex bass and some beautiful background melody. Khetzal - is a son of trance-spirit 5/5 5/ Nuclear Ramjet - Folding Time (ambient version) - this track was pretty annoying as there was no realisation or deepness as it was in the previous ones - so let it be a coffee-pause-track. 2/5 6/ Aes Dana - Summerlands - starts out with a voice of a tired woman, a soft 4/4 rhythm and dripping sounds enter making this track somewhat interesting. A nice effort but i think his track on the first compilation was way better. 4/5 7/ CHI-AD - When The Effect Came - again voice samples - like a tribal chant, a background effect sounds like a distorted rain, and then we can hear an uplifting melody - wow, it sounds brilliant. Suddenly the melody fades away and the beat changes - and the whole mood of the track changes with it - becoming more dub-punk than etno with 303's on the back. Later both themes mix one into another. Absolutely fantastic and i must say CHI-AD is a very talented person - it sounds complicated and catchy at the same time. I love it. :posford: 5/5 8/ Hol Baumann - Benares - this track entered his 2008 album "Human" which i consider to be one of the best chill albums of the past year. Though it sounds a bit different from an album version - anyway a great track and i like the voice in here very much. 5/5 9/ Cell - Keun Yung - hm... - it sounds really deep with almost invisibile/unhearable 4/4 rhtyhm. Tracks like this need more time to get appreciation from a listener. It's definitely interesting. Journey music - you know 5/5 10/ Mystical Sun - Waters Of Life - minimalistic ambient. It just gets lost among other giants on this compilation. 3/5 11/ Robert Rich - Somnium - not just a beatless outro. Nothing can beat a flute on the rainy misty day. 5/5 Best productions come from Solar Fields, Vibrasphere, Khetzal, CHI-AD, Hol Baumann, Cell and Robert Rich. 9/10
  3. Some of them sound very good and they're not pure oldschool goa of "lost in time" period but it is a natural progression of every artist from that era.

    Eat Static - Epsylon

Eat Static keep bringing their best material. Two of their EPs are fused in this one release. Epsylon and Dionysiac are both dancefloor stompers with the best psy-vibe artists could achieve at that time. Peeow is a great titled track - starts pretty simple but then every thread merges into a beautiful and driving picture of sounds. Lost In Time my favourite track here. Very catchy. 8/10
  5. It is so hard to distinguish 10 faves. 6. Summing up my recent minimal-tech run-through: Sasha - The emFire Collection: Mixed, Unmixed & Remixed http://www.discogs.com/Sasha-The-emFire-Co...release/1307527 The Radio Slave's and The Field's remixes both down- and up- tempo were really great. Deep and hypnotising - just the way i like it. Various - Get Physical Presents: FullBody Workout Vol. 4 http://www.discogs.com/Various-Get-Physica...release/1576828 One of the best compilations. Every track represents the best side of each producer. Practically every track is a bomb. Melodic and pumping. Alter Ego - What's Next?! http://www.discogs.com/Alter-Ego-Whats-Next/release/1370859 A remix album of their "Why Not?" release. You can find here a lot of dancefloor destroyers. :posford: Justus Kohncke - Safe And Sound http://www.discogs.com/Justus-Kohncke-Safe...release/1224981 This is definitely the best album of 2008 in tech-house area. The best melodies and rhythms all the way through. 10/10 IMPS - Bring Out The Imps http://www.discogs.com/IMPS-Bring-Out-The-...release/1500095 A mash-up production of Minilogue and Decoy. Overall an interesting album but not everybody's cup of tea - so beware James T. Cotton - Like No One http://www.discogs.com/James-T-Cotton-Like...release/1237617 One of the best tech albums of 2008 on the harder edge of things - acidic and dark. And yesterday i found out about Polish project Catz n' Dogz and their amazing track "Kaniani". Liking it very much
  7. Oh, yes i am very impressed with the cover did they actually try to do a cover? or thought that unfinished it looks better
  8. Somehow the title of this new album tells me it's going to be a cheezer.
  9. Entheogenic - Without Thought without doubt best track on "Dialogue of the speakers" album
  10. http://www.myspace.com/protocultureonline
  11. Absolutely nothing new in this album. The only remixer that baked the best cake was SHULMAN. Every other track sounds sweet like candy but again nothing new. Remix by Abakus was very out of place IMO. Generally the sound is of high quality, lots of deatils but definitely a pop-charter. "Without thought" was awesome so as remixes from OTT. But Shulman...
  12. DJ Quicksilver - Deep In Motion http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFDz-QvROhI another great choon from the past, i remember hearing it the first time in 1998 and it simply blew me away, it's great to hear it again edit: oh no, nostalgia again Three 'N One - Sin City Brainbug - Nightmare (sinister strings mix)
  13. On the rainy spring day it sounds great too. I like the way it changes styles - sometimes it's almost new age and sometimes gets into synth-pop and after sounds as deep as ambient can be. Some melodies are very catchy. Overall is a very competent work.
  14. Yeeeeee!!!! Money FTW!!! Now you can have as many butt-naked chicks as you want.
  15. "Vinyl is the pain in the ass" Richie Hawtin (source: Slices DVD Magazine)
  16. Digital downloads is where all the industry moves and one day it'll all go strictly digital. Vinyls so as cds deteriorate within time. Personally i'd like to listen to a quality digital version of a track than having an old and dusty vinyl and listen to cracks and noises. In the past i've had tons of cds but then i realised the non-sense of holding them and i sold some and others i just gave to my friends. I kinda managed to appreciate music as a sound only without any material equivalent. So quality wav's and mp3's FTW.
