What music are you listening to right now?
Anoebis replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
and now to Digital Mandala by Fractal Glider... And I forgot how BAD that album was, héhé -
The new Odd Harmonics album... Haven't seen a review, but the samples sound wicked, Scozbor album like...
-
for me: MFG - New Kind of World damn, not one mediocre track... A trip into another dimension straight away!
-
For me the best cd so far must be: V/A - Peace Therapy 2 to make a top 5 I will wait a few more months

Fractal Glider - Parasite album... I forgot how good it was! Specially the second part is mindblowing... -
Maybe you can start with with telling us what style you like, then we may be able to help you, because these days in the trance scene there is no thing like "the best dj", it's al splitted in subgroups and genres, and within those subgroups we can make a "better then others" list I think

Interesting topic... I was thinking the same not long ago when I saw discogs, many scores are way too high there imo... I started to give point myself not long ago, and I do it like this: A release can get 3 possible ratings; / = a not good track, not good enough * = a good track, I am satisfied with it ** = superb track So what does that mean? When I listen to cd I get for instance this result: 1./ 2.* 3.* 4./ 5./ 6.** 7.* 8./ 9./ So this cd gets: 5 stars out of 9... So 5/9 = 0,55 Depending on that score I give following points: >1 = 5/5 0,65-1 = 4/5 0,40 - 0,65 = 3/5 0,20 - 0,40 = 2/5 <0,20 = 1/5 This is how my discogs ratings are made... And that means my average after 200 cds is around 3.22/5, not so much, but fair imo because I give mathematical points to my cds which is 100% objective! But I still have 700 cds to go to listen to EVERY track... So maybe that average score will change a little, but not much... a 5/5 is not SO common, and that's what bothers me sometimes on discogs, 5/5 is given too much... About your point Jon Cocco, I agree, you also don't give an A easy at all, I like that!

Some may have heard this mix, it was for download as well on the psychedelic site but because it was kinda unstable it was removed again, and now it is up again and normally it will be pretty easy to download The mix is called "warming up for some wild party", and that sums it up I guess, a rather downtempo mix, slowly going faster and faster untill the last track which is already the beginning of the party! The tracks are mostly made in the 95-99 era, but some of them (Azriel, Moai, Silent Sphere, Khetzal) are more modern, anyway... Let me know all your opinions! If you want I can place a tracklist later The link: (in the link... right mouse button... Save As...) http://www.psychedelic.be/v2/content/view/59/45/

Woow! Thanks alot for the nice reactions everybody! I was really surprised to read so many good reviews with such a phrenetic fast furious mix... it seems like the mental people still exist even today, great! Some answers to some questions: why so mono, it's because of my turntable, sorry, in a few month it will be stereo, promised! Haelium: the track between 18-25 are in fact 2 mixed tracks, the first is Pleiadians on FOL, the second is the Deviant Species track, Viral Spiral... About Psylent Buddhi, yes, it are tracks from Kasper, Denmark, at that time they were downloadable for free, just as the Imperial Project, I just found them back before this mix and I was astonished by the super high quality! That's why I put them in this mix... Normally I only put unreleaseds in it when the artists agree... but because these were downloadable...

I hope so... And well, it explains why so many djs are so crappy, they don't know their music (or is it because all their music sounds the same they only have to pre-listen one song, héhé)
-
Cosmic Conspiracy! :) For a very low amount, I'm really happy, héhé

for me it's like 5 new cds a month from saikosounds mostly and around 10 cds via other channels (mostly oldies via ebay or something)

I've been listening to psy-trance/Psy-ambient non stop (ok, 90%) for about 8 years now, and I have been to parties at least once every 2 weeks for 6 years... I have a good gf, finishing some good studies and I'm not miserable And I never got bored... Why? Because I love this music by the heart, and I have so many cds by now that I find the variety everybody is talking about within goa trance... None can imagine how much joy it brought i my life! It was the best thing that every happened to me, and as long as the music reflects my soul, makes me smile and feel good I see no reason why I would stop listening to it! I still get goosebumps from it every day... Something I rarely have with different music (in fact, while listening to different music I'm always looking for madness and melodies, whichs fails of course...)

I got a pretty fantastic offer for the whole, so all is gone now except for Transient 2... Sorry for the ones that didn't get hold of a cd...
-
well, I prefer, as this is my pocket money for my trip to Twisted London! But if you have an extreme nice offer, I may think of trading as well
-
It seems like you are right, it isn't rare at all, a well... The others are at least and it's not because you find something for a few euros it isn't rare, I bought Paradise Connection for 1€, and a friend of mine found D5 - Transdimensional for 5€...
-

The first 4 tracks of the Ka Sol album *shameless self promotion* but also the album of Ency....gea or something, a very weird, chemical name, Macedonian artist but damn good melodic dark music... (when I am at home I can search for the name...) Otherwise: - Scatterbrain 10/10 - Kluster first album 9.5/10 - UX (well duh) - Electric Forest - Promon 10/10 (I ADORE that album, some more forest melodies)
-
héhé, leave some of the old school stuff for us you shark! :D ps: check your mail
-
Makyo! Even Solar Fields is pretty danceable at times for me...
-
It's the awesome - Toi Doi - Replicant track from the cd Techologic... mindblowing, head banging goa trance!
-
I was once deeply fucked with a trade... I traded Truth of Communication AND air born for BPC - Blue Planet... Guess what, I never recieved BPC... after lots of mails he said there was a mistake bla bla bla and he would send the cds back, I never saw a cd back The guy where I bought it of was: Greg Senpai... anyone else had a bad trade with him? I never had problems with broken cds luckely enough, but I had shattered boxes from the postman once in a while, luckely the cds were always fine
-
For me: Dreamweaver - Lord of Illusions... Never understood why it got so little attention, it's one of the best goa trance albums ever made for me... Lately: Peace Therapy 2: what a MINDBLOWING release, not 1 single mediocre track, great flow, superb melodies and sensitive feelings... A total classic for me already
-
Well, now that I am searching for new ways in progressive-land, I can start digging some deeper... A cd I totally adore is Vangelis - 1492, powerfull, dramatic, deep, sensitive... I know this might be synth-pop, or modern classical or simply ethnic ambient with vocals... Dunno, and whatever, what is sure is that I can't find this type of music within the psychedelic ambient niche, and well, I love it, so anybody that knows any more cds of Vangelis in that style or groups that make such music? ps: so no psychedelic ambient needed, I am fully aware of what's happening in there and stuff as Solar Fields, Solar Quest and Bluetech I adore as well
