Actually, on Universo Parallelo in Brasil, I played in front of many people, not sure if it were 10.000, but several 1000 for sure and I opened there with On another festival in Belgium with all kinds of electronic music (called Once Upon a Festival) I played 1 time in front of 5000 people, and I also still remember my opener... Even if the kick is there already the first minute, I think the real intro is the first 3 minutes, before the track really starts

I was wondering, is your daily life linked with goa/psy trance in any way? You have friends that talk about new releases, parties,... you know many goa heads in real life and do other stuff with them too or not,...? In my case, I'm linked really much with the goa-scene... I think around 75% of my friends are or were linked with the goa-scene. Some of them are among my best friends, and the music & parties means for them, what it means for me. Probably there is the big "connection". Luckely I have some non goa-friends too of course but around 25% only I think...

I think the dark side gets some attention already... Blackstarrfinale like stuff, Anjuna Records, some DAT Records,... And more will be coming (we will release Shakta soon & a KOB album in the future too) But ok, we are more focused on morning stuff for sure As for the evolution of goa, more opinions? Good or bad? (as I don't want this to be blabla topic nr 35 with old vs new goa)

Fantastic tracks ruined by mastering/mixing.
Anoebis replied to Penzoline's topic in General Psytrance
That's simply nitpicking. You know what I mean And... Adrenalin Drum was not goa. When we released filteria (nov 2004) Tranceform Records released its last music already half a year before. Kagdila was probably the only other label, sometimes releasing goa. So specially for you I will make an addition: "There were 2 other goa releases in a whole year" -
After some other topics here, where you have the typical old vs new discussions, I was wondering what the general idea about it is. Should goa-trance stay exactly the same as in 96-98 or should there be a constant evolution? So, in my opinion. The main thing is the music of course. And the musical structure (psychedelic 4/4 dance music with melodies & acid sounds) should stay the same for sure. But, as the world and the public is constantly changing, I think it is logic that the music is changing and evolving too. if you listen to modern goa-releases it is true there are some differences compared to 96. The biggest imo is the bigger emphasis on melodies (this is luckely changing a little) and the sound quality/mastering which is more modern. This is logic of course, as the public changed, and they are mostly used to Full On and Progressive on parties. So, I think in the end, the evolution is/was always there, and it was so slow, that the difference is only clear a few years. Because, if you compare a modern Suntrip cd with most melodic goa cds from the 90s, there is a sound difference for sure. (take Ra for example). So conclusion. I think it is good this way, as we prove to be a scene that is alive (!!) and like this new, young people will discover the music and fall in love with it. If goa-trance was pure static, I think extinction was the only possible outcome.

@ Djuna: well, the thing is, I am not 20 anymore, in a time where we were the only goa-freaks left in the world (luckely). When we started suntrip, there was NO other goa label left. So, it's logical we had to look to the past etc... In the last 5 years, a lot changed. And with that change, also my view on the scene. Back then, my view on the scene was Belgium. Now it is global. Also, the growth of the label had a serious influence, and a dynamic label needs to adapt somehow to it's surrounding. As said. One thing is sure for me. The music, and more particularely goa-trance, is my "mission". But, to bring this music to a serious audience on big festivals, you need to adapt a little to what is happening today. Not too much of course, and you know I still play enough 90s music in between, but a little. YES. Compare Filteria 2004 and today. I think the sound difference is clear and huge. That is the unstoppable evolution I'm talking about. And I'm glad we managed to keep goa-trance alive, adapted to today's standards! (with the clear important thing, that goa-trance is STILL goa-trance) Writing notes and "music knowledge" is not necessary to be a good artist... There are MANY famous examples of guitarists and classical music guys who didn't know a shit about notes and stuff... They just had a musical hearing and made the most amazing compositions. I also know of some famous respected classic goa guys, they are unawhere of that... -
10 minutes later I was back in my safe haven Ultimae temple (for 12 more hours )

Well, the Belgian case I mean... you have some people with a big mouth on several fora. If they "like" something, chances are big, it becomes a hype in Belgium, if they dislike, the opposite can happen. This is the example for the bad. Ah well...
-
It's not If I had to show someone who doesn't know goa-trance: what is goa-trance, I will probably give him Transdimensional or TransStellar That is for me like the DEFINITION of goa-trance! And on the dancefloor it is the ultimate bomb... Second Phaze is ultimate morning floating spiralling goa It's soo weird how tastes can deffer... about Artifact303, I love it, for sure, but well, that album proves me that a "(negative) hype" between some people can actually stop a release from being popular in a scene...

Radi, in the afternoon, there will be ambient on main stage, so it's easy to meet in front of the stage -
It's always curious to see how the mechanism of love/don't love works. And i'm always wondering what influences it A good example for me is Artifact303. In the world, TONS of great feedback, in Belgium everyone said it is mediocre/poor etc... I never managed to even get him booked here, except when I did it myself How can a country influence taste? Or is it the "hype" factor, or people talking to eachother,... It's curious Many of the names written I CAN understand (Filteria being too loud, too much climaxes), E-Mantra (too psychedelic/subtle) although the albums of these artists were always winners on psynews "best of" and generally feedback wise. So probably this topic just attracts the "non lovers". For me the nr.1 for sure: UX (too loud/Screamy, never liked it, it's like rock-trance)
