How would you rate the last 10 years of Goa Trance music
Anoebis replied to Richpa's topic in General Psytrance
Very good, but there is still too much mediocre stuff out there imo. Of course you cant release onlly great stuff as a label, but there is a generic highly melodic formula in some modern goa-trance I tend to dislike because it is rather unoriginal. We noticed with our latest promos, good stuff for sure, but a lot of stuff who ends up in the bin after 1 listen. On the other hand, there is clearly a big revival, which makes me happy of course, but we have to stay critical. And we only have 1 big star, which is Filteria. Some are growing like E-Mantra, but well... We need more, MUCH more music and professional artists with great music to grow even more and to reach everybody... I have the feeling only half of the work has been so far... So, for the future I hope there will be more different kinds of releases, more acidic/darkish as well All goa-styles... Suntrip will always focus on the more melodic/morning stuff of course but that doesn't mean I don't like the other side I do believe, in total, the goa lovers had a lot to like last 10 years And that's the main thing. As for classics... This will sound very ego, but for me 10 releases of Suntrip more or less are "classic" (like Khetzal, Arcana, Nemesis, Daze, Crossing Mind,... so many to name) Other too like Live in Athens, Mind Rewind, Call of Goa,... -
How the mighty have fallen. Pick the worst fall.

The question is... Since when, there are a lot of groups who's second or third album is much better compared to their debut imo -
Its always bad to start with the best, as the rest will sound dull but Touchdown is great, the one before too, the Stuck in the Oven is less imo

This is a message to all artists! In 1 week (the 15th of feb) the deadline for our 10 years Suntrip compilation ends... It's a tripple cd, 1 with goa-trance and 1 with ambient! So, if you have great goa-trance & ambient tracks... Don't forget to send them to us! info@suntriprecords.com is the way to reach us!

For me Cosmosis... his old music is among the best EVER, his new stuff is unbearable for me -
I wish Maybe 20% is sober Anyway, interesting topic. In my opinion it is more or less like this (and to make things clear, I believe the drugs influenced the music) Progressive = main drug = cocaine, more ego influenced, trained bodies & cocktails... More clubby vibe... Hands in the air during a climax like in clubs Full On = main drug = MDMA/XTC, more euphoric, happy, strong beats,... To be honest, the atmosphere during this kind of goa is kinda fun imo. people dance harder and enjoy themselves mostly on an open maner. Dark = main drug = speed/lsd, the high tech stuff etc has a really negative vibe imo. People are closed, wear things on their head to cover their face etc... more "closed" and not a community feeling. More agressive and less fun imo. Goa = main drugs = LSD/mushrooms, atmosphere is mostly more euphoric , people are dancing together, big smiles, we are all one idea, lots of hippies. (negative side, it is too idealistic, almost fake)

Yeah, I guess so But it is a LOT of work (again), so we'll see about that The Sakura is all music licensed by me or labels who are very close to me, so that was no big deal For other mixes, we need time, and guess what we don't have enough? TIME Now let's first concentrate on the 10 years compilation tripple cd AND the Shakta & Ra album
-
To be honest, there is 1 very important argument in my opinion to reprint Mind Rewind 1. It was a release without a commercial idea behind it. All the profit was for a good cause. So how can you say, not repint, and the good cause will get less money because of that? This is a pure win win situation in case of reprinting! More people happy, more money for the good cause! Who can be against that? If a commercial label does limited prints, it is different I guess, as it's a way to sell stuff faster and to make something more rare/wanted. But that doesn't apply in this case... Also, I don't like the fact some of the people that worked on it, kept 5 albums aside in their cellar, and sell them once in a while for 100€. But ok
-
Actually, all 10 are "sold out", BUT, this is because many people buy and say "I will pay by bank transfer" and 80% never pais... So they will be available again in 3 weeks... if you really want one, let me know I can fix something

Derango album, Procs, Kluster first album, Ukalen, Buddhas first 2 albums, Attoya first album, Ka Sol (all albums)! And some compilations like "more than real", "Sanatonic Audio", Yggdrasounds 1
-
Depending. The "real" Suntrip releases which are spreaded allover the distribution channels 1000 (but we'll go to 700 after the Ra cd and the compilation), and the limited prints are 300 or 500.
-
Well, 50 more which will be available via discogs... but it has probably to do with it indeed... still

Interesting question... First of all, the reason why we released the Sakura mix, was indeed more out of promotional purpose... (hence the price) but once we were working on it we realised the feedback was more then originally expected... because of that we included some "unique" tracks in it, so it became even more interesting for everyone The most "shocking" about the mix, is that it sold better then E-Mantra the first 2 days after it was released! (actually, it was sold out almost immediately) So this means, there is clearly people that are interested in this. I, myself, like mixes a lot. Like said here before there are 1000 of mixes allover the place, but only few of them have a good story/mixing/quality. Because of that I only check the ones I KNOW I will like. Maybe limited prints of the best are interesting... After this successtory we were thinking we can maybe ask the Suntrip djs to make a good mix, and release it as limited mix-cd prints on Suntrip. Like a series. For instance, Ine makes one, next is Stevo, next is Lord Flames,... Only problem: you need to have the rights of all the music, and that is less easy as people think, but ok, that's our problem

He was right! (but that sais more about the trance scene than about the music )

E-Mantra - Nemesis (Suntrip Records) - jan 2014

Thanks for the reviews please put them in the review section too And if you like, please, buy the music... It's very necessary to have more like this! -
What do you think of the trajectory of Shpongle's output?
Anoebis replied to acid-brain's topic in General Psytrance
Downhill, the first album is FANTASTIC, a milestone, the second is super nice, the third was still good, since then only 2 tracks on each album is really good imo... -
+1, the worst I heard on a festival in my LIFE
-
That's the question, what will be next? Facebook will stay big for the next decade, I'm pretty sure about it... Simply because others, like google+, have nothing "new" to propose... And Like Draeke said: it's about money imo. They don't want free promotion, if you pay, they are happy
