  1. nono, moonwalkers are fluoro backdrops
  2. I agree fully with this... A lap top is not bad for dj-ing if WAV files from original cds are getting played... altough I think it is easier, is it the pc that does the beatmatching for you or not?
  3. Only 2 remarks... it's not only about the audience, but also about the music, the artists and the labels... because without them working with good material... no folks and audience second remark: for you dj-ing is mathematics on a computer, for me it's a form of art... i always look at it as a "collage" (or patchwork), which means you take different pieces of art (the tracks) and you make a new thing (a mix) out of it, that is your expression... But to make good art you need days and months and years for practicing... You have to listen each track 5 times to understand mood, and with what it fits... you have to know the technique to mix perfectly and when you manage to do that... You may be able to create a perfect artwork for people once in a while (because sometimes artwork fails as well)! This is UNTHINKABLE with a PC, you don't even need skills, my grandmam can do it...
  4. So here we go with this interview... before falling in bed >> Are the sales of Suntrip's releases going well? Well, because we didn't had any expectations when we started suntrip, we can only say yes and compared to other labels it seems like we are a decent medium sized label with a good crowd behind us, we sell enough to survive and print new cds, so we are going well >> Are you dissapointed by the sales so far? see above... not really... Sometimes we have dissapointing periods, but that's mostly because of a bad release date given by the distributor... For instance releases from june-august does not sell really during these months... (hippies travelling around, and get back home broke) But out of this period no dissapointments, again, because we had no real expectations >> Did you except that more Goa fans would pick up Suntrip's cds? Well, not really... In Belgium all goa fans have at least 1 (and mostly much more) goa cds, so I have the feeling quiet alot of real goa lovers that are still in the scene have at least 1 or some cds original... But a broader audience in the future is possible of course The 10th cd will have an ambient side, and that side will be more easy to get into for people that are not only into goa trance Also, in the past with ka Sol we reached a more dark loving audience, but only few ones it seems. >> Are you surprised by the sales so far? Are they bigger than you expected? Well, to be honest we were surprised in the beginning that for instance Apsara sold so well compared to really big labels that only sold double of us... so back then the sales were definately bigger than expected... but now we always sell what we thought, so that surprise is gone >> Are the Suntrip's releases popular only to old Goa lovers or there are new Psyheads that indroduce theirselves to Goa with your cds? I know lots of new goa heads of 16-20 years that found out about old school via Suntrip, so it's popular with a small part of the new generation for sure... but I don't have a clue how many % of our clientele is "new" in the scene or not... >> How ppl around the world regard your label? As an exciting Goa revival or as a label out of dated? It depends... Many big labels looked at us as a "outdated" label when we started for sure, but after 2-3 years they saw this was not just a resurrection of the past... We are trying to build on something new... And we feel now while slowly compiling suncd10 that bigger labels have respect for us and like what we are doing, even if it is not their style... Also working together with more known names helps of course (Dimension 5, Ra, Aes Dana, Solar Fields,... more to come) >> How old artists feel about your label? Do they support it? Do they think it's a label that releases ''dead''music? Do they care? Do they know that Suntrip exists? (I'm talking about the old, famous artists that produce full on or progressive now). Some guys like D5 and Chi-ad for instance support us for sure, but that are probably the only known ones... We know Astral Projection said they liked what we are doing... But many others like Etnica, Deedrah/Transwave,... Think we are releasing dead music... They think goa trance is the past and they don't think of remaking this music... EVER. But they do know we exist (at least all the ones mentioned above here) >> Did the Dimension 5 reissue sell well? Well, not yet fully as expected because of a bad release date, and some distribution problems at saikosounds, but I guess this autumn it will reach our goals... For sure with the DImension 5 live act (for the first time in 10 years) coming up >> only have one simple question... RA'S NEW ALBUM DATE OF RELEASE... ? Honest? I don't know anymore. He is moving to Sardinia, and he's busy with moving, marrying instead of making music... but he promised us his album (which is half ready...) so I guess it will still happen one day for sure! >> I'm curious about Suntrip's goal and future vision of the goa trance scene Our goal? Promote good melodic goa trance, with a modern touch... Release music I absolutely love, both goa trance and ambient in fact... and specially... And that's the ream goal... Make people happy with the music! When we released a cd I always hope people will enjoy it when sitting outside in nature, with a discman... and dream away, sitting in the sunshine! That's my goal >>how they feel about the small goa revival of the past 3 years that is still growing. It's nice to see and feel there is something moving again! This means there is a future afterall! But let's be honest, not all "new school" is good quality yet... Everyone is able to work with a pc... So everyone is able to make music... But some are very talented for sure, and will get released for sure! Only a pitty we are probably the only label releasing this music on cd, mastered etc (except for some exceptions twice a year) >>How do teaching and goa trance labels mix for you? Hard; coming home tired, make my lessons, eat, continue lessons, work for suntrip... Sleep... And in the weekends, the same combined with girlfriend and dj-ing... i'll be glad when I'm used to work as a teacher, so I don't have to make so much preparations! Ok, that's it any more questions? Shoot!

    Asura - Life²

The first is absolutely brilliant! The rest of the album I haven't heard much because I keep repeating the first track sounds very Vangelis, melancholic-movie like Soon a longer review, but the rest of the cd was very good for sure, altough I would swear I could hear Solar Fields influences here and there! But as said before here... Ultimae never fails 5/5 again
  6. sorry dudes, only finished now, and I'm off to bed first, tomorrow I will answer, promised!

  9. This weekend I'll take my time to type a nice long reply, but too much questions for a fast answer
  10. Woow, nice and a nice price as well? About the cd you posted, probably it's this version, no? http://www.discogs.com/release/157391
  11. I know I know and except of that our taste is pretty damn similar Still, I can't believe, listen to it over and over and over untill you like it!
  12. I can not believe... Live is for sure in my top 5 ever...
  13. Electric Universe - Morning Star... Thé proof Full On could be good actually
  14. Bingo, in real life he was actually cool... but ah well, aftewards... About Max Lanfranconi, he is thé biggest drug head I ever met... serious I've met other drug addicted artists, but not like him... Bleh Also, I met Erez back in 2000 in the backstage of a Belgian party, he was a very nice guy, we had a long and nice chat (I remember afterwards I was like WOW, I talked with HIM, it seems like I have been a groupie at least once :posford: ), while Amit was kinda grumpy it seemed to me...
  15. my favourite: San Pedro for chill and Echo plantation for uptempo
  16. yes, his best track I heard of him so far not genius yet imo... I'm sure he can still improve
  17. Well, not a hard choice at all for me... Everything from Juno Reactor, their old trance sounds so bad!? Only their chill is nice imo...
  18. Actually it's a very hard choice to say which one is the best... I agree with what the others said here... All of the classic series have fantastic compilations between them... Distance to Goa 1-7 Destination Goa 1-6 Goa Head 1-8 Tantrance 1-7 Pulse 1-7 My favourite from each series: Distance to Goa: 4 & 5 Destination Goa: 2 & 3 Goa Head: 3 & 6 Tantrance: 4 & 6 Pulse:1 & 3
  19. I met tons on parties and via Suntrip of course, and actually, like what was said here before... It are only humans Lots of very nice people between them, some even became friends! The most positive ones (in no particular order): Ka-Sol The Muses Rapt Khetzal Indidginus & Oood back then on the psynews summer launch (2002) Silicon Sound Nolax Solar Quest Troll Scientists Filteria And the negative ones: Max Lanfranconi (Etnica) LB
  20. Actually I did, and he is remaking some of the tracks as he wasn't fully satisfied with some of them... He wants to release it around the winter, he'll probably print it on his own, so maybe 300 copies or so... but of course it will be announced here
  21. Electromagnetic The Second Room Rain
  22. hehe, welcome on psynews, after 3 pages the main point is always sex... Too much testosteron here
  23. Lunar Asylum - Moondog is my track of the day whaaaa :clapping:
  24. well, for some reason that more raw acidic style is a gone, no promo's whatsoever in that direction (let's say, in the old British style), but maybe the future will bring some new music in this direction, who knows? a "night" old school acidic compilation would be cool for sure one day
  25. Aeon - Transe Modulaire Asura - Life² Nada Masala vol.2 Trancentral Eight
