Why does no one in the US appreciate GOOD electronic music?
exotic replied to Malachyte's topic in General Psytrance
Lets be honest coz they're too gangsta and ghetto for electronic. Also arent Ocelot and Mubali from the U.S ? ... oh i guess you arent into darkpsy ! -
Amygdala – Modus Operandi
exotic replied to Penzoline's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Thanks for posting this! I had no idea about Amygdala. Very nice release . I like the fact that it is orginal and psychedelic at the same time. -
You could give Mindwave - Concept of freedom a try , might go down really well , the melodies are simple and effective when in high spirits and otherwise too. Protoculture is a good bet as he has opened out to a wider audience ... his latest album is a mash up of hands in the air euro with a bit of psy. give it a spin before hand to see if it could fit though ... it does get a bit cheesy sometimes. Shiva Chandra's "The beauty of noise" has some good psyhouse numbers. some tracks are really good like "your mind" and "music therapy" .. Sideffect pretty much has given you a playlist with a good mix of clubby psy prog that is bound to touch the psy side of people .... Have fun

New infected mushroom ? I would say vibrasphere and carbon based lifeforms . two most accessible bands to non psy people.

I was hoping for a more eventful doomsday , when instead of the black hole in the center of the galaxy sucking the life out us, day will suddenly turn to night , the sky red and there will be a spectacle like one never seen before, a natural lsd trip when everyone will be in awe of what they see in the sky , God will appear and say " fuck you stupid humans , you ruined all that i gave you. Carbon di oxide production increases unabated because of your greed, the rich become richer and the poor poorer. You have no compassion for your less fortunate brethren , Here you fools , take this and let me save you before the inevitable " And he will hurl a big ball of fire at earth .. the poor and the intellectuals ( read psynewsers ) will be transported to a different dimension (la la land with unlimited supply of magic mushrooms and pussy) and obviously some on this planet (the rich) will survive the apocalypse and there will be zombie situation like in the Walking dead ... What a bummer , back to boring life

Yea I find it a bit strange myself too. Did everyone here start with metal first and then move on to psytrance ? well for most i guess it would have panned out that way.. it seems like that from all the posts... im the only exception I guess. good or bad i dont know ...

Was quite disappointed with his latest but yes he is a legend . I was amazed when i discovered those earlier albums , hands down the most psychedelic music i had ever heard .

Interesting indeed. In the documentary which i saw they blamed Marilyn manson for the shootout in Columbine high school. wonder if he can actually be blamed? even though it was later proved that those kids were not his fans it would make for a good debate whether can music/vidoes/videogames actually lead people to commit such drastic acts ?

India, slayer was here a month back and then guns and roses last week. its a pity only Axl came along with some new band members, i didnt go being a huge fan of slash. I wish i had got into metal the way some people here were before they got into psytrance. i used to listen to pet shop boys , madonna , chicane and michael jackson although i was aware of nirvana , iron maiden but never really heard them with the ear that i now hear heavy metal and rock. btw i got the judas albums you recommeded, really cool. They were on the softer/lighter side with their first few albums it seems.

Surely gonna get them both, im already a fan!!! Would love to explore more , i just cannot believe that i haven't these guys before .

Was at a friends place last night and I met a hard core rock fan, tattooed all over , nice guy , not aggro like some metal fans i know. He had come for the Slayer concert and hasnt returned to his home town coz where i stay is the hub of the rock /heavy metal scene, He showed me a documentary called "Heavy" , four episodes about the origin of metal starting with bands like Black Sabbath , WASP , twisted sister , Judas priest and then going onto Motley Crue , Van Halen and stuff. I have to say that i have been pretty ignorant about rock and he kept pulling my leg about being a retarded electronic music fan, i mean after watching the documentary i thought to myself "Not bad at all, that's pretty bad ass" This morning I downloaded British Steel by Judas priest which is playing right now and i have to admit this is damn awesome !!! The max i heard was Iron maiden and some Black Sabbath ... I just wanted to know any metal fans here and what is your opinion about PSY vs Metal , i know apples and oranges but as its common knowledge that metal has the most loyal and dedicated fan base . I mean Judas has 39 million plays on last.fm , i dont know any psy artist that has so many plays ...

Tech-house more "trancing" than psychedelic and goa?
exotic replied to Procyon's topic in Other Electronica
It has some elements of tech house (combination of tecnho and house ) , not all of it just psyprog or techouse obviously , a combination of both. Regarding the bassline i know what you referring to , i hate that kind of techno/commerical which does back and forth instead of progressing. the artists i mentioned dont have that so maybe we do have a different take on what techouse is. Im referring to progressive techouse while you're talking about the old minimal detroit style tech house. -

Tech-house more "trancing" than psychedelic and goa?
exotic replied to Procyon's topic in Other Electronica
Yes some tech house is really good and can have a much more "trancing" effect as you put it. Its slower , groovier and less hectic than most of psychedelic music not to mention much more suited to indoor gigs than psychedelic trance. I used to listen to DJ Slater's sets from tribal vision and they used to rock. I wish i had the track list for one his sets, one of the grooviest sets ive heard. He also mixed some psy which went really well with the tech house stuff. Dnox & beckers, Brisker & Magitman and some of Ducas tracks are what I would call a hybrid crossover between psychedelic prog and tech house. Boris Brejcha is regarded as one of the best djs in the techno scene. He plays a mix of minimal , techno and tech house. Maybe you could check him out.
