Hi everyone. Let me start by honestly admitting the fact I'm not the best with nationalities of the producers so maybe there's a bunch of great Dutch producers, even ones I like, but just didn't know their origin simple as that. I've been wondering how come Holland is not a big place psytrance wise - I can only think a few people who did goa in the 90s, for example. They've got massive electronic scene that's common knowledge, but what I gather, and excuse my snobbiness, most dominant styles are these rave-y, dentist-appointment-at-the-club forms of music such as hardstyle/gabber/whatnot. How's the scene in Holland if there's any Dutch people reading this? I'm wondering Belgium being such a big country for goa trance, how come sun doesn't shine over the fence... (or does it?)

+1 It's a very good album, the melody structures are in fact what makes this release stand out. I listened to it a lot of times and really can only wonder what the fuss is with the mastering.
-
We agree to disagree on its use then. I've never used it on this forum and there's been no problems. I do, however, agree with your view of being polite and yes, something such as "I reckon/I find..." at the start of sentence sounds reasonable (better than "big letters IMO"). There's a lot of people on this forum, stating their views in a "factual manner" but once you understand musical preferences are always unique and tied to a person's subject, then, at that context, you can see it's harmless to voice your opinion boldly.

A good, old school-edged album with a lot of analog hardware in use. I know these guys have built a decent studio and invested quite a lot of their times to this project. For that, I'm thankful and seriously appreciate anyone with a little 90s twist to their story. Couple tracks have very distinct Transwave flavour a la 96, so it's a bit of a time machine album. Nothing wrong with that. I've gone through listening to this album as a whole a few times now, and in terms of composition find it ok - there's nothing groundbreaking or jaw-dropping, but on the other hand all tracks are listenable. I don't regard this as a classic to be, for it doesn't excel in any area. Still, a release worth investigating.

That abbreviation is useless unless you want to/need to emphasize the personal aspect in the point of view you're having; basically one can write an opinion e.g. Filteria's music is the best new school out there just like that, even though it's written in factual manner it's easy to see being just an opinion.
-
Although never a huge fan, I've always wanted to give Filteria a proper chance when coming out with a new album. I do agree with the opinion here that he's definitely improved on each consecutive album, obviously in terms of production but also as a musician, to some extent. Still, I'm bound to say he's always sounded a bit random with his melodies and pulled off harmonious, remembable hooks only a couple times in a satisfying fashion (the climax of birds lingua franca for example). So perhaps the honest thing to say is, I just think differently to Filteria as to what kind of melodies sound good or he lacks the ear to distinguish an average melody from a great one.

Sorry to hear that mate. I'm always a bit dissapointed when a release I've been looking for is released as a CDr - I skip buying them without a second thought... it's almost the same if I'd burn the disc myself.

Etnica - Mystical Appearance In Goa Such a sweet old school tune...

Hi fellow space ranger warriors. I've been thinking for a long time to do a DJ mix with some tracks close to my heart. There's a lot of excellent producers these days I'm glad to say and I had to use a couple days for the selection of this mix, actually. The unsung goa hero of Finland, Intriga, I've included as a bonus some of you'll like it surely. Here's the tracklist: 1. Spiritual - Ride The Snake (Elysium Rmx) (Hypnotic LFO Room 2014) 2. Antares - Aurora (Suntrip Records 2008) 3. Artifact303 - Levitation Device (Cronomi Records 2009) 4. Galactic Mantra - Gate Of Light Spirits (ACPrecorp 2012) 5. Ephedra - Crispy Biscuits (Goa Madness Records 2014) 6. Sirius - Not From Here (Suntrip Records 2008) 7. Quijan - Old Truth (Not On Label 2015) 8. K.U.R.O. - Red Zombie v. 2 (Psyristor Trax 2012) 9. Trinodia - Hunger For E.S.P. (Goa Records 2013) BONUS: 10. Intriga - Stuff Of Legends (Unreleased) https://soundcloud.com/sab-kuch-milegator/my-vision-of-neo-goa

The cover is absolutely horrible on that one, and the music's a bit so-so. Could've been better compilation in many ways, I agree.

Koxbox's U-Turn no? I remember having eagerly waited for it, and although it contained a couple nice techno-ish tracks, as an album it was definitely a dissapointment and ultimately proved me the golden Koxbox sound was a lot to do with Ian Ion and Peter Candy.

What music are you listening to right now?

That's a solid track, Desysko. Thanks for posting... -
Nothing except he has the cd, tracks are mastered... I don't know how many copies thou. I got the picture that Kalle is now quite uninterested in goa trance and is involved in different genres these days.
-
The promo exists and Kalle has some copies I'm sure... we talked about this when he came to play at our retro goa party last summer.

Slide's Unstable is excellent piece of dark goa. Just purchased it not too long ago (I sold a copy years ago don't know why) and it's definitely stuff I'd like to play at parties.

1) My first gig... I can't remember the year now, but was 16 years old and borrowed my friend's paper to see Eat Static. They were still performing together back then. Crazy show! 2) The first pure old school goa trance party me and mates threw back in 2011... it was located in Helsinki on a small "island" (maybe 50m x 50m so really small) and around 150-200 people came there. The location was magical, the music was all 90s retro goa trance so any need to say more? Everybody smiling... even the cops who arrived to check the situation seemed to like the music hehe. 3) Is probably still to come. ;-)

Both tracks are a skip for me. It's just the usual bandwagon music a lot of people are churning out these days.

Yeah, I found it later it's called: Psy Phy 6 - Gecko Echo

Some tracks are born normal, some are born.... special.

I think it might be not so easy to answer? There's a lot of the kind that you might think "I don't like this" but it's not necessarily bad, just forgettable. Well, I was just recording one DAT tape late in the night, this track starts to play and... I started laughing it just sounds like every little thing done wrong.

Alright, if you say that then I'll grant you the benefit of a doubt and believe your word. What happened to those copies, however, remains a mystery. -

Is there another place to order this than Anjuna Records bandcamp/Discogs? I feel saddened to have lost taste in this label, but giving the fact I provided 2 tracks for this compilation (Total Eclipse + Tandu) I don't think it was too much to ask for the label to send me one copy free of charge - which I did and the label said they would (2 times) but nothing happened.
