I'll try to put a 96 Kbps version of the "Psychedelic Sparks" Tracks on this site anyway (to let you have an idea of their style) ... just need time to do that :-)

!!!!!! I Also think the Mushies cover is AWESOME ! Really makes you fill the mushroom effect ) When I see it and I listen to Tracks like the Gathering this makes me think of several mushrooms with legs (us) walking like in a military march behind 2 big mushrooms (Erez & Duvdev) around the world )

This comp can be resumed in 2 words : original, crazy. But I think that's what Exogenic label tries to make us discover in each new release. I also got the Haltya album and it also was original and crazy. Of course here you have more variety as we're talking of a compilation. Why original ? Simply cause most of the Tracks here use samples of instruments you're not used to listen in psytrance stuff. Sometimes jazzy, sometimes groovy, lots of styles are mixed with psychedelic sounds. Track 1 contains a very fast & psychedelic crazy melody, with a not too loud bass & battery in background. The snares are more present to your ear than the kick actually, and I think it's better for this Track. Track 2 contains more snare & crazy sounds breaks, not as fast as the first one. On this Track the sounds themselves make the melody, but you never hear lots of sounds at the same time as in a GMS Track for example, that's more scando-oriented. Pretty nice track, but nothing outstanding. Track 3 contains more spacey sounds, with lots of high-pitched samples, as vinyl scratches you hear in rap but sound manipulated to be even more high-pitched. Very crazy tune, maybe a little too crazy sometimes. Track 4 has a louder kick, still with high-pitched sounds, claps & few vocal samples ? the sounds in the last 3 minutes make you think you're playing to an old arcade video game while listening to psytrance ? I like it :-) Track 5 is one of the craziest ones. Very psychedelic (as Track 1), few samples that seem to come from cartoons, not bad but not long enough & still with a little lack of variety imho. Track 6 starts with guitar, seems you're hearing a classic rock intro. The groove that follows makes the whole thing sound very nice. Then a soft kick starts, later in the Track you hear a voice sample you generally are used to hear in more commercial techno tracks, and a jazzy melody then appears, and a flute to finish ? the whole thing still keeps a psychedelic rhythm & pretty fast melodies, but that's not usual psytrance, for sure. One of my favourites one here, as it's very original and I like when different music styles are present in a same Track, that gives it more depth. Track 7 (my favourite) has a " Blues Brothers " style ? yes, you're wondering how a psytrance Track can sound like that, but it really does ) You can hear a trumpet, a flute in background, a very distorted guitar, an harmonica (or sthing like that), an electronic keyboard in the " Doors " style accompanying, and sometimes a man speaking ? that's really original & still fast & psychedelic. Really nice Track imho, but, of course, you have not do dislike " Blues Brothers " style to like it :-) Track 8 is less original than the 2 previous ones, but still has a nice melody. The kick is irregular, the sounds very fast and more low-pitched. There are tribal drums too at the middle of the Track ? original too, not bad, but very fast. The ending melody also makes you think to old video game musics. Track 9 ? nice bassline & kick but ? I don't like the main sounds chosen, don't think they well suit the bassline and ? lack of originality & work ? really sad cause the bassline is very nice. Track 10 seems to start old-school & psychedelic at the beginning, then becomes much too fast ? that ruins all ? some visitors talked about the future of psytrance that might be at 180 BPM, I really don't hope it will ? you suddenly have a nice slow violin melody, and then the fast line starting again ? some tribal sounds in background too, but the melody is really much too fast. Track 11, from the Faggotts, is not for me ? I don't know the Faggotts style that much, but I don't like this Track, it sounds too crazy too. Very high-pitched sounds, with an even faster melody than the previous Track. Then some hard rock style guitar melody, still very fast. This guitar melody is quite nice, but what I don't like in this Track is this "Everybody grooves to the music" sample, which directly comes from a commercial dance song but still has been sound manipulated too sound crazy, a little like in some Infected Mushroom Tracks ? and this too fast rhythm. Overall an irregular compilation, with some really good tunes and some much too crazy ones ? Rating : 5.5/10 (remember a 5.5/10 for me is the same as a 7/10 for many people here, I rarely put notes over 7/10)

500 KB of source code ! I didn't imagine it was so big (cause I'm sure this will certainly exceed 1 Mb) ! That is around 15000 lines ! Hopefully for us Mars is like "Lucky Luke" for programming as he's the programmer of a famous demo-making group :-)

To clarify things : the Tracks on the CD won't be MP3 quality at all, they will be remastered by INPSYDE MEDIA (Valerio even told me he projects to remaster them in the best mastering studio of Italy) About thenext contest Tracks quality, that will probably be 96 Kbps. Enough to have an opinion on the Track, not enough to satisfy with the MP3s & don't buy the CD. I don't know if the contest thing will continue if releases stop, cause the aim was to make people participating be signed & release their stuff to be widely distributed (-> become known on the scene) and earn some money for their work, so there would be no aim anymore ...

How can it be possible ? ) For me that's "Asterope", "Maia" and "Time Dilation"

Hehe I'm really not sure we'll make some money on that you know :-) But the real VERY INTERESTING thing with this release (and I hope future ones for the next contests) is that it permits ANYONE who produces music with his home studio (wherever he lives) to become SIGNED on a psytrance label & earn some money for his hard work.

Tatsu : yes there are 3 melodic (not old-school), 2 ambient, 3 psychedelic & 2 more minimal Tracks. We tried to put as much variety as possible according to visitors votes & label agreement in this 10 Tracks final selection :-)

INPSYDE MEDIA, the italian label who is going to release it (as well as the Promon album), is really not sure that's a good idea to propose all Tracks at high MP3 quality on this site cause that will probably affect the sales as everyone here already have the possibility to get them for free (even if MP3 quality is not as good as original quality) What do you think about that ? Will you buy the comp even if you already got the MP3 Tracks here ? What would you do in our place ?

Yes any styles are counted in this contest :-) There was around 10-15 ambient Tracks in the last one, and 5 more tribal ones. Well I personally have a complete different opinion about the rules a good comp has to follow : imho a good comp should be like a good party : -minimal at the beginning, progressively going to -psychedelic, progressively going to -melodic, to prepare the transition to -ambient, to conclude the comp on a softer note :-) In case of there are 2 CDs, the last Track of CD1 should be psychedelic ambient, not ambient, in order to prepare the next trip (CD 2) through a little break of BPM That's the rules I tried to follow with the "Psychedelic Sparks" Tracklisting :-) I think there will probably be around 2 CD of winners for the next contest too, then the label will choose his favourites in these winners and sell 1 CD only, as for the previous contest.

Will be from February 1 to April 1, so ... few days remaining before the beginning ;-)

Just to say you that there are lots of chances to be a release of "Psychedelic Sparks", but 1 CD only. This CD will contain the Tracks the label who wants to release it will have chosen. Sorry for the other winners who won't be in this Tracklisting, we'll talk about you in the package as well, and will indicate where people can download your MP3 Track (in the contest section) in this same package. On a general way the future releases of the future contests have lots of chances to be 1 CD only too, and should be made by the same label (if the first release works well in sales, of course, and we hope it will). I can also say you that this label is about to release a debut album of PROMON, one of the artists who won the contest :-) But other labels can contact the other winners & release their Track in their own comp, that doesn't mean we forgot the idea to make all the winner Tracks be released :-) You won't know more for the moment ;-)
