beatless and bpm is not the same thing. there is always a timecode, no? An ambient without any kind of beat, just floating sounds, might have a bpm of lets say 100 bpm and a 4/3 beat? I mean, every piece of classical pianowork that I know has a timecode... (That I know of, go flame me if I am wrong hehe) The question should maybe be re-formed... or something. There are some Pete Namlook (and others of course) tracks completely without any beat... it still follows a beat per minute "agenda"

125-135 no faster, no slower for my taste of dance music (if you want to see me dance that is, which you prolly dont lol). 140-146 for psy if I make it. 142 is my FAV bpm for psy

I think the problem (Or not maybe the problem) is that many people that have not experienced a good dj (in both ways) does not know better than just listening to the music and not the mixes, but when there is a flow both music and mixing wise, the experience can not get any better. I like how DJ Anti/Sven Vath/pr0fane ( ) and a lot more of course can achieve this. I am of course also from a techno background from ground up, so I am very very used to very very technical djs from the very beginning. Maybe that is what makes me such a critic today, cause I dont settle for some shitty dj that has never been able to mix 2 records together eventho they are the same fucking bpm. I say: BOYCOTT THE CRAP!

+1 Nextgen Depends totally. Some tracks just would be dull if they were longer than they are, cause the story has been told within the short time. And of course vice versa. Beatless tracks for me is but I still like that there is rhythm... ie. bubbling synths or something a bassline...

Both. A dj with good tracks that trainwrecks is just as bad as a dj with shitty tracks but good dj skills.

i really can not understand the hype around this release either. i mean, there has to be like super many copies still left. I remember selling like 2 of it in my shop.

This album is one of those who ALWAYS travel with me where ever I go. I can always find a space for any of the tracks in any of my psy sets. For me it is one of the most perfected albums when it comes to mixing diffrent styles. (As said in that other thread hehe). Back when it came out, I gave it 11/10, and my feelings have only grown so it will have to stay at 11/10

Make your own, I did, I started with a massive IKEA one, Extended it, and bough some plywood to make it even bigger If you want, I can make a drawing plan for you for a nice desk, and you just do it yourself.
