like I said, its crap to you, to others it is not. the world would hardly be a better place without rap, and I mean, DEATH METAL!! Comon!! Catch my drift? the only music I TRULY dont understand is this phenomena called regaton (or however you spell it, I can REALLY REALLY not understand it haha, but I guess that is the kind of "rap" you are talking about

surprisingly here in Spain I have met a lot of people that understand when you say you compose electronic music. I think its their vocabulary, they just dont USE fancy new words hehe. I have met the "Americanized" (you know, the ones that use english slang and so on in their language, Spanglish) Spaniard as well, and he would refer to it as "being a dj" but if you explain, no, i am not spinning 2 disks, im actually using instruments (be they virtual or not) then they understand. What makes YOU feel pretentious is that people dont accept new forms of music, and new methods of music. However, what on earth do they know if they never have composed themselves? If someone told me I am not a musician, or a composer, cause he didnt understand my music, then I would just walk away, its not worth taking up that discussion. Or no? Sound Designer sounds so wrong though, cause it would imply you design a sound, not a track? Music Designer? But still, why label it, just go with the flow and COMPOSE what comes into your mind!

Komponist is the German word for Composer.

i think I read somewhere that Mozart called himself "Komponist" and "Capellmeister"

nah, only reading your first intitial post, and the others following before replying. anyways, composer yes. Cause I compose or write music, with the aid of a computer. I am going to take piano lessons (already done some online, but I feel I need a teacher actually). I also want to learn how to write notes (my system is based on keys). I think in the end we are all Composers of some kind, and yeah, electronic music is an art form of its own, it is music nevertheless. No? Listening to some of your music (you per) I would say you are also a Composer, or well, if you prefer Producer. My initial post was not to disagree, it was a question why we feel the urge to label ourselves so urgently (like daniel). I think you read into it a little bit too much, though. And of course, if you treat me like a kid with your reply, I am going to satisfy you with behaving like one Of course, you will always have people saying "Ahh so you are a dj?"... cause they just don not understand what you are doing/creating. But in those situations, you just have to keep the "electronic" part out in the discussion, and they will think of you as a musician or composer. It is really hard to explain to some people what you are doing, though. I agree! Are you a composer?
