  1. Novation has released a new version of the Bass Station. Interesting, I thought they'd left analog behind. It seems like it will be much the same in sound, but adds new features like a suboscillator, sequencer, arpeggiator, and a second 'acid' (ie. 303-type) filter. Plus USB. http://global.novationmusic.com/hardware-synths/bass-station-ii
  2. Oh man, that's terrible! Did you know him personally Anoebis?
  3. Except in the US, where we have to wait until June for that.
  4. I've never met the guy, but I've observed his actions for a while now on Psynews, and now this stuff. I know a lot of people like to point to the spectre of drugs to explain such behavior, and sure sometimes that is the explanation, but a lot of times people who don't have experience with drugs think drugs are the explanation for all bad things done by people who take drugs. That isn't necessarily the case. Oftentimes people of a certain sort are inclined toward drugs, and sometimes these people can go overboard like this. It's a shame, really, if he's received support over the years but continues to act like this. I know people in my personal life like that. As for myself, I only partly lay the blame on the individual; we say he's acting crazy because society defines what crazy is, but we could just as easily define things differently. Who knows, it could be something serious like schizophrenia, but it could also be just a runaway ego. I hate to say anything bad about the guy when I like his music. I think the only review I've ever here done was his Liquid Jungle EP "High Toxicity". I don't like all his music but I respect how much he puts into it, and I really like some of it. Regardless, there's a point where things get out of hand.
  5. I've been listening to Etnica Live in Athens today. It's totally awesome and left me very discouraged about my own musical abilities.
  6. Talpa maybe? It leans toward fullon and/or dark, but is melodic and awesome. I'm speaking of "The Path", which is the only one I'm familiar with.
  7. I don't know that any one would be better than another specifically for goa. Step sequencers are pretty straightforward and simple things. I think most available these days are modular, but MFB makes a desktop one that's not too expensive.
  8. Huh. I've had the X-Dream Best Of for a while now, and never noticed until now that "Out Here We Are Stoned" isn't an X-Dream original.
  9. Yeah, there have been tons of spots in movies, not just new but from all eras, that I would have liked to sample, but the background music gets in the way too much!
  10. Just finished and submitted a school project. I think it was mediocre at best and the report I wrote for it was surely dismal. Hopefully I'll do as well on the final as I did on the midterm to make up for it. I also just saw an email from my other teacher with my final grade. He said my project was 'good', but the report 'lacking', and I only got 75% on it. Still got an A for the class though. I don't like writing reports. Unfortunately I foresee more in my future at this school.
  11. No, it's not an iTunes problem, but the automatic level shifting feature in iTunes is not a good way to try solving the problem.

    SCANDI90'S

Oh. It's weird to me a record label wouldn't make it easy to hear their releases by setting up a website.
  13. In my experience that feature in iTunes is a complete fail, and makes things sound worse.

    SCANDI90'S

I seem to be missing something here - meaning a way to listen to samples! The Bandcamp link in the announcement post has nothing, and the Soundloud link only has a mix of Flight 604. Where do I check this out?

    Science!

This is a neat little video: http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2013/03/this-is-what-happens-when-you-run-water-through-a-24hz-sine-wave/
  16. That's funny - I'm in the middle of making a beat detection algorithm myself, for one of my classes, it just happens to be tailored to a particular type of medical signal and I have no idea how to code anything for VST or any other kind of audio related standard.
  17. Oops, I just realized this thread is in the General Psytrance forum and I'm taking it off topic. Sorry!
  18. Actually I'm only familiar with two albums, and I like them both: Eternal - 1995 Warkult - 2004 Eternal has a more old-school death metal feel, Warkult a more modern feel. The friend who introduced me to them said they really only have a few truly good albums but I've yet to determine that for myself. This is my favorite song from Warkult:
  19. Lately I've been all over Malevolent Creation when it comes to metal.
