It's kind of unreasonable to expect young people to be serious all the time.

FM is a bitch. I never get what I'm trying for.

Korg Recreates the MS-20
Veracohr replied to Veracohr's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
It should be true to the original. The whole idea is that it's exactly the same circuit other than the addition of MIDI and USB. Moog came out with a new one too, called the Sub Phatty. It sounds pretty interesting. -
I actually like analog more than digital. It can be more difficult, but that just makes it interesting to me!

Korg Recreates the MS-20

True, but I would just use it as a sound module. I wouldn't play the actual keys. -
Korg Recreates the MS-20

I hope they keep it around for a while. I don't think I'll be able to afford it anytime soon, but the price is great for a legendary synth! -
I may be a nerd, but I don't get colds!

Korg has released a new synth, the MS-20 Mini: http://www.korg.com/MS20mini Faithful recreation of the original MS-20, by the original designers, but a little smaller and with MIDI/USB. US street price $600.

The class I'm taking now is a new creation this year. It's called "Linear Systems and Digital Signal Processing". Apparently they took what used to be two different classes, "Signals and Systems" and "Digital Signal Processing" and mashed them into one.

Wow. I like my school. I first used Matlab in a "Engineering Programming" class, which was basically an introduction to Matlab and Labview. The next term I wasn't required to use Matlab, but it was suggested, in a circuit analysis class, and I found it very useful to help me with the Laplace/transfer function calculations. Then there's DSP this term. I quite like Matlab! I don't know if I'll ever use it in what I want to eventually do, but I think it's a great program!

I still buy CD's, then I immediately rip them to WAV (for listening to from the computer) and MP3 (for the iPod). I stream my music from a network drive. I don't bother backing up the music that came from CD's. If the drive crashed and it was lost, I could just re-rip from the CD. I do of course back up the downloaded music. In the car I still listen to CD's. In fact, I listen to them in an old Discman connected to my car's cassette player through a cassette adapter. Super high-tech!

Nope, undergrad. It's my second time around in school.

I use Matlab for school. This term I'm using it in a Digital Signal Processing class.

I still don't understand how that translates into a strong Australian dollar making things expensive for technosomy. Economics is one of those things for which I happily bury my head in the sand. Thinking about money period just ruins my day.
-
The guy I sit next to at work works with customers in central & south America, and he's always telling stories about how difficult it is to export things to Brazil and how expensive they are there once they finally make it through. I'm not sure I can really speak about the big picture here in the US. Food prices continue to rise but nothing huge, and inflation is normal. Gasoline prices fluctuate a lot, but I think it's generally accepted that the prices here are quite a bit lower than many other places in the world. I've worked at the same company for about 8 years so I've been lucky enough not to have to deal with the job market. I think if I didn't have a job, I might have a much more negative view of things. I know people who have had a hard time finding jobs, and I know on the occasions over the last few years when my company had job openings, they received hundreds of resumes. I don't understand a lot of economics. Doesn't "strong dollar" mean things would be good? Because I swear when I read news articles about the economy in one country or another, they always use the term "weak [currency]" to mean a weak economy.

Old school sounding GOA from recent years?
Veracohr replied to trancedanne's topic in General Psytrance
I second this. -
Well I'm at work and have nothing to do. I'm limited in my ability to entertain myself until work ends.

Thank you sir, for my next song title! I find this album just awesome! I so love Crossing Mind's swirling-melody style and key changes and the sort-of-chaotic noises floating all around at the same time. It's great when I want some goa but not in the mood for any of the various neo-goa artists that can start to sound too similar after a while; Crossing Mind is definitely unique in this! I've loved The Holographic Paradigm since the songs were dredged from the dark recesses of the internet, and I love The Inner Shift!

This album is pretty good on its own, but I got it the same time as Mindsphere, and I find the two fairly interchangeable, with Mindsphere having a slight bit of an edge ahead. Good songs for going in a mix, or in a compilation like the one on Shaltu, but listening to the whole album they start to smear together for me and nothing stands out.

I'm so bored.

I watched this recently. Pretty different from the book. Less focus on the actual clinical trial and more on general psychedelic topics.

Bots/crawlers? Quoting seems to work fine for me in FF.
