No, we just chat every day to coordinate our meals.

117GB, but that's misleading because most of my CD's exist in both WAV and MP3 format on my drive. WAV for listening from the computer and MP3 for the iPod. And some of it is my own. Some of it is stuff I've had for a while and don't listen to anymore. I also have CD's and records that aren't on my hard drive.

I don't play them myself. In fact, I was highly disappointed that Diablo 3 was online-only because I was looking forward to it. But I can see why people would like them. They're large and involved and the inclusion of human interaction adds a new dimension to the old human-computer gaming structure. But for myself, I don't play games much, and when I do I typically don't want to interact with other people.

Do you drink coffee or anything else with caffeine? I used to take up to 2 hours to fall asleep, and I consumed a lot of caffeine at the time. I stopped caffeine for almost 10 years, and during that time I got to where I could generally fall asleep in 20 minutes or so. When I started drinking coffee again, it started taking me longer to fall asleep again.

I don't think your sample is very close, but it might be along the right track - a mix of different sounds rather than coming from a single source. It's odd though, it sounds very cohesive, like it comes from a single source, I just don't know what. Then again I'm only familiar with a limited range of synths.

Good question where that came from! I can't seem to reproduce it. I highly doubt it's a sample of a real kick drum. To get a real kick drum to sound that tight, with no resonance, you have to damp it a lot, which not only reduces the low end, it shortens the decay time. That sound doesn't match up with a sampled kick drum. And that's not even considering the lack of acoustic noise and reverberation. I've recorded enough real kick drums to be pretty sure this isn't one. I could be wrong but I doubt it. It has a very electronic decay sound. I've tried three different virtual analog softsynths and can't reproduce it. Maybe it came from a ROMpler and was constructed from something more complicated than a simple analog/VA structure? If using a synth whose filter goes into self-oscillation at maximum resonance (or a software synth that models this behavior), what you're doing there is producing a sine wave. In a hardware synth that does this, the noise doesn't even need to be present, the filter will oscillate on it's own. So you might as well just start with a sine wave.

Neither. He used to be Psynews spam king.

It depends on what is meant by "quality". Gear is high quality these days, but not everyone is great at mixing, even if they can write good music. A lot of people these days also don't have much sense of arrangement and how it affects the end product. It's called "masking".

Neurogen: The New Reger! I usually do this: - Drag myself to bed a couple hours too late. - Experience several violent twitches of my body. - Bat my cat away a few times. - Have anxiety attack. - Complain to myself about my back. - Wake up too late and rush to work.

Hmm. Well, OK.

Hey healium, have you heard Talpa - The Path from 2011? It's neither neo-goa nor darkpsy.

Huh, I didn't realize all those peeps were French. Also, I thought Oforia was Russian.

Israel for quality, largely from AP. UK for quantity of good stuff. France as a runner-up. I'm not always completely aware of where artists are from.

How we review, old and new combined...
Veracohr replied to Sideffect...'s topic in General Psytrance
I think short reviews are fine as long as they say something substantive, not just "this is good" or "this sucks balls". I don't read reviews much, but when I want to read some comments to get an idea of a release, I usually skip over the long initial posts and go for shorter comments in the responses. I don't have the patience, I'm usually just looking for a quick nudge in one direction or the other, and if I decide to take the time to listen myself I'll make up my own mind. -
Except Led Zeppelin kept going after the first couple awesome albums. Posford didn't (as far as trance goes).

Hold your breath until it's released!

It's not ignorant or insulting to anyone to say a CD costs more than I want to pay for it.

I totally agree, ReDrum is awesome! I used to use Reason but don't anymore. For that matter, the samplers are great too!

It's part social, part "find new music based on what you already listen to", part music wiki. Personally I don't really use it, I just let it keep track of my listening habits for my amusement.

Voting was open for 2 months or something like that. Ample time for Psynewsers to get around to it. We just don't have a enough regulars who would bother to vote. It's not like voting was cut off before a bunch of people voted.
