Live Performance Act in Goa Trance Genre
Veracohr replied to Goa Travellers's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
That's one of the unique things about Live. It's called the "Session View", and is intended for loops. Live also has an "Arrangement View", which is laid out like Cubase and other DAW's.- 12 replies

How's the Dark Energy? I've considered getting one of those. -
Behind the music - conceptualism in Goa trance
Veracohr replied to Richpa's topic in General Psytrance
It could have something to do with the move away from albums. Psytrance is still clinging tenaciously to the album format (thankfully IMO), but much the general public buys in singles these days. And even if someone gets an album, it might very well end up split among several different playlists on a person's iPod. Overall there's less of a focus on albums these days, and I imagine that carries over to artists and their naming conventions. I agree, though, that conceptual albums are cool and I'd like to see more. I strongly hope people don't start politicizing psytrance. -
Sound Card & Studio Monitors
Veracohr replied to _--Psytech--_'s topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
What's up with the weird font background color? I haven't used either of those interfaces so I can't really recommend one, but I can give some points to consider: - M-Audio has been making audio interfaces for a while, Native Instruments not as long. M-Audio has a reputation for good products in their price range, Native Instruments I have no idea what their reputation (for audio interfaces) is. - Those seem like two fairly different products. They have different input options - do you want a certain amount of inputs to record external sources like hardware synths? Or do you only use software and just need the outputs? Also, the Native Instruments comes with various software the M-Audio doesn't. That could be something to consider. As for monitors, I always like to recommend ADAM Audio, because I love mine so much. Although, in your price range, they only have one option, and they're pretty small and don't extend to a very low frequency. There are probably many fine options in your price range, check Yamaha, KRK, JBL, Tannoy, Alesis. I've heard surprisingly good things about the Behringer Truth monitors. Realistically, most monitors in your price range will be decent enough that the sound coming from them will suffer far more from acoustic problems in the room than the quality of the monitor. I don't think you'll find monitors that have their connections anywhere but the back. However, ideally your monitors should be angled in so that the point directly at your head. When you do this, you may squeeze out a little extra room for the cables on the back. -
BlackStarrFinale - Is pause no (extended version)

I like each different section, but they don't seem to fit together all that well, like it's different songs stuck together. -

Is buying via Discogs with Paypal the only way? Also: are these new songs or older unreleased? They sound very old school. -
I remixed an old song of mine "Labyrinth" and made it more acidy.

I was quite pleased too! But I'm inclined to like anything Joss Whedon anyway.

Works fine for me in Firefox in both the IP.Board and Deviant 3 themes. Although I'm a couple versions of FF back.

Finally they've unveiled the new D5 material
Veracohr replied to Penzoline's topic in General Psytrance
I actually thought the 303 sounded out of place. But it was a live set, so perhaps that had something to do with it.- 58 replies

I've been trying to figure that out myself since I got my x0xbox up and running. It's not as easy as it seems like it should be, but in concept it's nothing special. Accented 303 notes with echo is pretty much it. Just have to get it right. I think the key is having an accented note with non-accented notes on either side. So it kind of jumps out of the other notes like a single 'bubble', then the echo stretches it out into more 'bubbles'.

That article is much longer than I can bring myself to read at the moment, but... I just saw some video about this on Netflix the other day and started to watch it. It quickly got into some behind the scenes stuff that was boring, but at the beginning it showed the arena where it was held, and...holy shit that was a lot of people. I would have freaked out from claustrophobia. While I only watched a few minutes, it seemed like the whole deal was a textbook example of taking a phenomenon long since past its golden era, sanitizing it, diluting it, and reselling it to the sheeple in a nice manufactured off-the-shelf package. I look at the pictures of those girls in those costumes and wonder if they have any idea where the whole notion of silly rave costumes comes from.

My point was that with mainstream music, there's a history of critical review that's just not there with psy. So there's likely to be more favorable reviews.
