I finished a song for the first time in a long time. It's midtempo, psychedelic but not trance. It was meant to be conceptual originally, but at some point I more or less abandoned the original plan for it. http://soundcloud.co...mentines-voyage

Nice song.

Also: Jon The Dentist – The Simirillion

With all the megabuzz over Prometheus lately, I have a feeling it's going to disappoint. Trailers look good, but too much hype pretty much always points toward bad.

Wow, it's like a flood of E-Mantra lately!

^ There's definitely a difference between samples like that, which are just kinda cool by themselves and are stuck into a song, and samples used sort of like an instrument, as in the "Healing Magic" way. A really great voice sample used well as an instrument is just awesome!

Yes, unfortunately I've seen it.

Your favourite tracks from these 20 classic artists/groups

OK, a fair amount of these opinions are based on pretty limited exposure. I haven't answered for those that I haven't heard enough of: 1. Astral Projection - Utopia 2. MFG - Shape the Future (Goa Vibes 2 version) 3. Transwave - Ulysses Voyage No. 2 4. Etnica - 5. Total Eclipse - 6. Hallucinogen - Orphic Thrench 7. Koxbox - Life Is... 8. Pleiadians - Asterope 9. Shakta 10. X-Dream - Our Own Happiness (303 edit) 11. Prana - 12. MWNN - Teleport 13. Psychaos 14. GNOTR - 15. Infected Mushroom - Drop Out (I know it has dumb vocals, but it's a good song otherwise) 16. Electric Universe - One Love 17. Chi-A.D. - Astral Warrior 18. The Infinity Project - Uforica 19. Cosmosis - Spores From Space 20. Oforia - Substance -
Why would you be embarrassed about liking that one? It's a killer song!

I just noticed the "Insights" thing. That's kinda neat, it shows statistics on activity relating to each post.

Interesting samples. I'm not sure what to think of it, it's kind of odd. Good groove at times. -

BIONIC - In On The Outside EP :: BOOM! Records

Hmm...the melodies aren't bad, but overall kind of formulaic. Is it just me or do the last two songs have the same bass line? -
More than one hard drive.

I think it's a one of a kind controller hacked together from multiple sources. The page Drosophila linked says this:

Probably saw. Any regular waveform, low-passed low enough and with a steep enough slope (like the common 4-pole), approaches a sine wave. So it can be a little hard to tell when it's low-passed that much. Honestly I don't use snares that much, and when I do I'm rarely happy with them. I just don't have good samples and I have a tough time synthesizing good sounding ones with my drum synth, MicroTonic.

Yeah, a lot of soldiers say things like that. For some of them it's the reason they joined the military, but personally I think for a lot of others, it's an attitude that is developed in them intentionally during training. It must be easier to get people to put their lives at risk if they think they're doing it for a good reason.

Imba, here's the thing: Our votes count, but in a weird way. The "Electoral College" is supposed to be a proportional system whereby the weight of a state's vote depends on its population. Theoretically the distribution of electoral votes in the Presidential election is supposed to represent the distribution of individual votes across the country. Also, the President is not an autocratic leader, so no s/he can't start or stop any war or peace efforts they want. Kind of. The President can initiate military action for something like 30 days, after which it has to be approved by Congress, but otherwise most things have to be a joint presidential-congressional decision. And we have only two serious contenders of political parties in the US, and those parties are the ones who determine the eventual nominee for their party. So in that regard we the dirty masses have limited power over who becomes President. We're presented with a couple choices, and that's pretty much it. Still, even with the mountain of bureaucracy between the individual voter and the results of federal elections, many people stick with it in the hopes that change can happen over time. That can be hard considering we have a large geographic area, and many different micro-cultures within it which may vote differently. In my own state of Oregon, a majority of the population leans slightly leftward but is concentrated in a small portion of the state, while the majority of the state geographically leans the other direction, so we are considered a left-leaning state. Believe me that the rest of the state is pretty unhappy about that. You can't change anything if you do nothing.

Personally I sequence the song the way I want it and add effects in the mix. What you're describing sounds maybe like a way of introducing a break in a live setting to a song that doesn't have it. Not that you couldn't do it that way when writing, but seems to me like it would be a cumbersome way of doing it.
