  1. I pretty much get dumb stares. ".....what?....."
  2. Yeah, it was a few years ago. I've noticed your superior payment options now.
  3. I go with the psytrance-as-umbrella-genre terminology, and all of the above being sub-genres. And psytrance (as a whole) being a sub-genre of trance. I don't think I consider trance a subgenre of techno, it's been around long enough and moved too far away. I definitely have an idea in my mind of how 'goa' is different than other kinds of 'psytrance'. It's not a clear and concise difference, but there's a certain feel to a song determined by arrangement, rhythm, scale, etc. that tells me to call it 'goa' over any other label. Whether it's old or new.

    Ender's Game

I made the mistake of clicking on the 'Entertainment' section of CNN.com, and somehow amidst what was basically an online version of People magazine I noticed the word "Ender's". It turned out to be a brief article mentioning some of the actors who have signed on so far (movie due in about a year). I'm pretty disappointed in the choices: Ender - Asa Butterfield - this is the only one I saw that more or less fits my personal image: Colonel Graff - Harrison Ford - too old and friendly Petra Arkanian - Hailee Steinfeld - right look I suppose, but too old. She's supposed to be about 9 I think, at least at the beginning: Valentine - Abigail Breslin - supposed to be about 11 at the beginning? I don't know how recent this picture is, but the girl is 15 now: "Ender's Game" is one of my favorite books, I hate that I'm already expecting to hate the movie. And now that I think about it, I want to know who's playing Bean. Bean is a more important character than Petra anyway.
  5. And step outside the electronic music scene, and you get the people who think all of it, including techno, is cheesey as hell and laughable. In this day and age with so many different styles of music and the ability to share with people all over the world, it's kind of silly to be elitest about it. There's nothing that is 'cool' that isn't 'uncool' to someone else.
  6. I usually try to order more than one CD at a time to save overall on shipping costs, and they're rarely the same label. I ordered direct from Suntrip once and had to do a wire transfer, couldn't use a card. That was a pain in the ass I don't want to do again.
  7. Oh yeah, I saw those. Sanctum really was terrible, but looked great visually. I liked Super 8.
  8. Yes, once, when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, our forefathers acquired music on strange, circular objects.
  9. 2011 was pretty forgettable. Nothing comes to memory when I try to think of movies I saw in the theater. I watch a lot of movies, but not necessarily new releases. I did see Sucker Punch, and thought it was fun, but nothing super. Guess I didn't realize it came out in 2011.
  10. I voted Saikosounds, but it's about 70/30 Saiko/Psyshop. I generally prefer Saiko, although both take too long to get to me and I wish there were a store that ships from a closer location. I think I bought one or two things from Beatspace. I even found a goa compilation at a local store once not long ago, although it isn't the best one. And I've found some good used goa vinyl at a local vinyl/DJ store.
  11. The riff at 1:20 is just awesome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cg2HaluWUBA
  12. I'd suggest working on music writing before worrying about having the best synths. You have something already? What sort of techniques are you asking for? We can help more if you narrow it down.
  13. You think so? I think we're more likely to get in a huge argument over it. The thing about goa trance, or any electronic music really, is that it's just not as immediately catchy as pop music. Regardless of how good a goa song is, something like "Every Breath You Take" is simple, has a catchy and easily remembered melody, and by virtue of having vocals is more widely liked.
  14. I'd guess it's Armin van Buuren since his name is all throughout the video, and it sounds like his music. I don't know the song though.
  15. In the first one it starts at 2:00. Also the one that starts about 2:30 adds to it. Basically I thought all the leads were a bit too loud. During the breaks that don't have leads, the mix sounds nicely balanced. In the second one, the synth that starts at 0:56, the one at 2:30, the one at 3:43, pretty much all the aggressive sounding synths.
  16. I try to be well-rounded, but overall I like goa more and don't listen to fullon or dark stuff much.
  17. Pretty good overall. I like the night one best. But both have a lead sound that I think is too loud and somewhat overpowers the rest of the track.
  18. Out of nowhere I just started feeling restless and irritated. Been watching movies & shows online for a few hours. Maybe I'm just irritated at having to go back to work tomorrow after having a week off.
  19. Probably going to a party here in my hometown. Nothing special, probably mostly dubstep & house & techno. Not sure if there will be any psy there, but at least it's something to do.
  20. Not bad sounds, but they were all pretty similar.
  21. Wow, I didn't know you could use root symbol like that on this forum software!
