Don't you love the never-ending cycle of computer hardware and software updates? About a year ago I got a new computer which rendered both my old audio interface and my old UAD card useless, so I got a Universal Audio Apollo which has UAD embedded. Yay! Except then I couldn't very easily use the UAD plugins in Ableton Live 7 because the GUI's wouldn't show up, only Live's native controls for plugins. No matter, I thought, I only use Live for part of my process anyway. I use Digital Performer for the last part including mixing, which is where the UAD plugins really come in handy. Still, not having those available in Live bugged me, so I finally just recently paid for the update to Live 9. But of course that meant that my Absynth 4 and Pro-53 no longer worked because they're 32-bit plugins and Live 9 is 64 bit. Score one for Digital Performer, which can use 32-bit and 64-bit plugins at the same time! So now I'm paying for an upgrade to Absynth 5 and accepting the fact that I can't use Pro-53 anymore within Live. I guess that's OK, I can do pretty much the same sounds in Massive. But unfortunately my creative process has been interrupted by the need to first search for the issue, and now to download 2.27GB of Absynth 5 over my slow internet connection. This shit never ends does it? Totally makes me want to go all-hardware.

I just finished school. A mere 8 years after starting. Soon I will be the proud owner of one shiny new Bachelors degree in Electronic Engineering Technology. What now?

Your modular synth of choice?
Veracohr replied to Goa Travellers's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
I don't have a choice. My brother has given me a Christmas present of an entry-level system from Synthesizers.com. I get a new module every month. So far I only have the case, power supply, and power switch module. I'll have the whole thing by the end of this year. -
The harsh reality... Why Psytrance has become shit
Veracohr replied to Anoebis's topic in General Psytrance
I haven't been to very many parties on average since about 15 years ago, but I think I've experienced what you describe. I always assumed it was just personal, that it was ME who changed and not something around me. But my personality is such that I always assume there's something wrong with ME before I look elsewhere. -
Please report posts that need to be taken care of.

If you think most of the posts here are derogatory toward psytrance I think you're either reading a selective bit of posts or just getting the wrong impression. Why would people come here if not to talk about the music they like? Granted, there are a couple bad apples who come back periodically just to troll, but I think most people here are fans. Also, a lot of people here are quite passionate about some particular sub-genre, and this typically breeds passionate dislike of other sub-genres. It doesn't mean they don't like psy in general, it just means they have strong opinions.

Deleted my post because I'm an idiot and can't read properly.

Sitting in my car in front of my apartment locked out of it because the two people who have my keys are not responding to me.

First Song 2016 (Hardware produced)

Sounds good! -
Don't be! Universal Nation is possibly the best trance song ever written in my opinion, and I love the Reactivate series!

I voted "Physical & Download" because I was physical only for the last 10 years since I got into psy, but I'm now weaning myself off of CDs. I still feel like I would prefer them, but I know there's no point, plus the shipping from the other side of the world sucks. Side note: I find it a little funny that at the same time I started moving away from physical media entirely, I met and starting dating a girl whose circle of friends is kind of "vinyl or nothing!"

Of course I wasn't speaking for everyone, I just meant myself. I like plenty of emotional music, that stuff just doesn't do it for me.

I suppose, since it's an important piece of the puzzle, that I'd better add one with the computer in the shot:

Did it go somewhere? I thought there was always some version of it on the market.

Not even a little. But that Soilwork song sounds like it has some Machine Head influence, especially from their fifth album "Through the Ashes of Empires". I used to listen to them a lot, especially the first two albums, but pretty much don't listen to them anymore. From that fifth album (there's a glitch in the audio at the beginning): And one each from the first two albums:

Wow, Machine Head is still around?

A friend of mine is a paramedic and he tells me stories sometimes of bad calls he's been on. I said once that it's weird he sees all these things in the same city where I live, yet I (and most other people) never see such things. He replied that if I had any idea of the kind of stuff that happened to people around me every day I'd be horrified.

About to go to the symphony.

Interesting, I thought I remembered seeing the album offered for sale on Chi-A.D.'s website many years ago as a download, so I've always assumed it was mastered, but maybe just not released on a label. If I listened to any samples at the time I don't remember, so I really have no idea how it sounds.

Are you getting a specific error message or something?

I went back and looked through this whole topic, and just couldn't help myself: Please don't be mad at me Imba!
