I spend time here because there's no one in my 3D life I can talk to about psy. It's pointless for me to try to promote psy music to my friends. Well, there's one that likes some of it.

Ah, yes, of course. Slipped my mind. I'd assume most people have a pair of headphones at least, even if they're not very good. I recommend proper monitors but some people use quality headphones solely.

Greetings Ids! First you should clarify if you want to DJ or produce. You'll need different stuff depending on which it is. Assuming you want to produce new music: in general, you'll need synthesizers/samplers, MIDI sequencing and audio editing/mixing. There's lots of free software synthesizers, and lots of good ones that aren't free. Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) which combine MIDI and audio are not as free. There's a couple that are free/cheap, but the more popular ones cost a bit. Cubase and Ableton Live are both quite popular, but aren't cheap. Personally I love hardware synths, but they're not cheap either. At the least you'll probably want a MIDI controller to control software synths. Some people do without and do everything with their mouse, but I suggest a controller.

I've had the Psynews Another Demention compilation on my iPod for a while now. I'd downloaded it at some point but hadn't gotten around to really listening to it. There's some good stuff and some not so good stuff, but I really love the song "Tataria" by Vax. I found a few mostly empty Discogs entries for that name. Anyone know if this artist had any proper releases?

The only reason Myspace still exists is that, even though the price keeps going down, everyone who buys it has spent WAY too much money to just kill it. Give it a few years and some kid in his mom's basement will spend $5 for the site. The fall of Myspace was due to their decision to let people put any goddamned thing they wanted on it. With the insane animated gifs that froze any computer not created directly by the hand of god.
