  1. Try this: http://www.reverbnation.com/mortalengines Steppin Stone - More industrial Sugar Skull - More melodic Solar Plexus - More percussive & glitchy The Martian Pasture - More drone/texture
  2. Pretty interesting. Can't say it's my kind of thing but the production is good.
  3. I suppose, I don't think starfish have teeth. Do they?
  4. New music. It's been a while: Taste of Life 139bpm
  5. I would disagree with that comment. The music has no inherent ability to make people feel any particular way, it all depends on the listener. Someone who is spiritually inclined may have spiritual feelings listening to music that was created by non-spiritual people, and vice versa.
  6. I'll try to remember to listen when I get home, but I like the cover concept!
  7. I'm probably not the best one to answer that, I'm not very good at the whole "eastern" feel myself. A quick search suggests trying harmonic minor, "Hungarian minor", or pentatonic scales. You can of course try Asian or Arabic tunings, but how easy it is to use those probably depends on what kind of song you're making. The more tonal layers you have the harder it would be to get those tunings to fit. As a page said that I found in my search, "Traditional eastern music is strictly monophonic, which means that it uses only melodies, and it can easily support the inclusion of intensely dissonant microtonal intervals."
  8. Don't confuse scales and tunings. Most "eastern" sounding scales you hear are done on standard 12-tone equal temperament tuning. I'd be surprised if more than a few obscure songs used actual alternate tunings.
  9. Some of us are producers here, but since the production forum isn't very busy, it may not seem so. Please post something so we can have something to talk about there!
  10. Are you serious? There's some GREAT psytrance out right now! Over the past few years it's just been getting better & better! I like Hallucinogen, "Twisted" more than the rest, I just think that if someone has to be CONVINCED to make an album, it won't be very good. He's obviously heavily invested in Shpongle, I'm sure if he wanted to make new trance he would.
  11. I think #4 "Mental Escape" is probably my favorite! I like the liquid, phasey leads.
  12. If he wasn't planning on it in the first place, as stated, and only did it because he was talked into it by some fans, it probably wouldn't turn out that great.
  13. And to make up for my off-topicness... Listening to the samples now. Sounds good! Nice spooky vibe going on.
  14. As an even more off-topic comment, the network/computer administrator at MY work officially requested NOBODY at the company use IE because of recent vulnerabilities that were brought to light.
  15. Seamoon's suggestion sounds like it might work. I'm gonna give that a try myself when I get home just for kicks. As a point of interest, this wouldn't really work properly in the analog realm without undue effort because the phase shift caused by the low-pass filter would cause it to be not exactly 180 degrees out of phase. Another possible option would be to use a multi-band compressor, but I'm not aware of any multi-band compressors with side chaining. Just out of curiosity, why do you only want the low end to duck? It would be easier to just do it on the whole kick drum. Is there a lot of high end in the kick you really need to keep?
  16. I like this cover, and generally dislike the typical super busy, ultra-mega-blast of 10,000 colors covers. I like the simplicity, I think it would portray an ambient album nicely. Although I don't like the font. Now I just need to check out the samples.
  17. Yeah! Boy, these came a lot quicker from Psyshop than they do from Saiko.
  18. Not exactly note-for-note, true, but it only took me half a second to think "hey, that's that Pink Floyd song!"
  19. I kind of hate to throw a negative comment in here, but that bassline (at about 3:00, 5:00 & 6:00) is a total rip off of the synth line in Pink Floyd's "On The Run".
  20. That's what I thought he did - that's a "cover" to me. A "remix" is using the original audio files and re-mixing them.
  21. Not sure what you mean by that. Good video though!
