  1. OK, I wasn't sure when I posted before, but now that I'm at home on my own computer, I can see that xACT does indeed do CD extraction. I use xACT for FLAC conversion, but it also has LAME MP3 and and a bunch of other things I know nothing about. But give it a shot if you really don't want to use iTunes.
  2. Is there an issue using iTunes? Converting CD's to WAV or AIFF files doesn't involve any algorithms - it just reads PCM data from the CD and saves it in a file format. iTunes wouldn't be a factor in quality. I do this all the time with iTunes.
  3. That's just what I was thinking when I watched that video - that the melody was too understated compared to the remix.
  4. Just wondering, is this the original? I've only heard the Pleiadians Remix, and Filteria's cover. I think I like the Pleidians Remix a little better.
  5. Really? I found it entirely pedestrian.
  6. If by "customized, limited edition", you mean priced more than a normal vinyl pressing, then no. But I WOULD buy a reasonably-priced album on vinyl as long as it sounded good. Best if it were specifically mastered for vinyl, not just the same mix run through an RIAA filter.
  7. Completely by chance today I discovered the movie the sample at the beginning of "Saikol" comes from. It's called "Darkness Falls", kind of a cheesy horror movie about an evil tooth fairy.
  8. No, without sadface. I've learned to like it more than I did at first, but it doesn't hold anything special for me. I do like it enough to buy a re-released one if it's a reasonable price, but it's not like it'll be an extra Christmas for me.
  9. 1. While the intro sounds cool, it's kind of long for a trance song. 2. Speed it up a little. Not a lot, this is definitely good as a slower-tempo song, but it wants to be faster. It told me. 3. The bass sounds weird, like it originally had more high end but got unintentionally filtered by something, and only lightly filtered at that. 4. Unless you have some personal affinity for DMT, try some different samples. This is maybe just my personal opinion, but I get tired of hearing samples in psy and goa of McKenna or other people talking about DMT, LSD, all of that stuff, as if to say "see, people talking about psychedelics makes this track psychedelic!" Terence McKenna alone is an absolute treasure trove of awesome samples that don't even have anything to do directly with psychedelic substances.
  10. Very subtly misleading - at first I thought it said Oliver Lieb, and I thought "Oh Em Gee! Oliver Lieb has come to our humble portion of the interwebz?" But I was wrong. And I cried. And then I got better. And had a cookie.
  11. The samples sound good, except "Terminal Fantasy" sounded kind of distorted to me. I tried to compare to the unmastered MP3, and while I can tell it has an overall gritty, dirty sound, I can't really decide if the distortion I hear in the mastered sample is present in the unmastered one. Anyone else notice this?
  12. This is a total guess on my part, but I'd say it looks like an original drawing that was trying to imitate a native American (maybe Mayan) style.
  13. Wow, what a polar opposite opinion to mine. I've been playing this album a lot since I got it, and I don't hesitate to say it will be my favorite of this year, even with the year only half over. Every song on it "gets me".
  14. Oh yeah, you're right! That was funny! The break is just a little more than 30 seconds after that sample, and I think is actually the next song. Not entirely sure though.
  15. There's some crazy ass shit in there! Funny thing happened - there's about a half measure break at 1:02:11, and just at that moment, perfectly as if it was part of the song, Thunderbird piped up with my incoming email notification sound: "Mail, motherfucker!"
  16. I haven't heard this compilation, but I find it funny that there's a cardboard box in my home that says "Fresh-cut vegetables" on it and every time I look at it I think of this release.
  17. I don't care much for the spooky sort of noise pads in the background, but there's some good parts. I like the lead that comes in around 4:07, you should expand on that.
  18. It's pretty good, although I think the bassline could be more interesting. Overall it's well written and has a good feel.
  19. Not necessarily a bad comment, just normal genre evolution.
  20. That's a decent melody, but I actually preferred the rather non-melodic part from 7:15 til the end.
