How do you think it became a 'theme' of any sort in the first place, if it did not have at least some validity to it? Human experience is incredibly varied and is influenced by a wide range of things. Just because you have not experienced something does not make it less real or authentic. The opinions and reactions you have to the things in your life are shaped and filtered by the culture you live in, your personal history, your personal psychology and your personal biochemistry. Two people having the same 'objective' experience will relate to it in different ways, to a greater or lesser degree. Is person A's perception of that experience not 'real' just because the majority of people relate better to person B's perception of that experience? From person C's standpoint, the experience is the same for both person A and person B, right? So if someone has a personally meaningful experience that affects their life for any length of time, why does the validity of that experience depend on whether it was endogenously or exogenously induced? It doesn't. It is your perception and integration of your experiences that determines the validity of your experiences, not where the experiences originate from. Also: "mind expansion" is one of those terms that is uselessly vague and undefinable, and therefore shouldn't be used, especially by people who haven't had the experiences that are supposedly described by the term "mind expansion". And lastly: to use the term "drugs" in the way you have infers either a complete ignorance of psychoactive substances or a willful acceptance of societal convention which lumps all psychoactive chemicals under yet another uselessly vague term, and hence a willful denial of the inherent difference of experience these substances induce. To use one term to identify substances as experientially different as heroin, cocaine and LSD is laughable.

Oops, I didn't see that before I voted "Other" because I wanted to choose that. I don't only like goa, but it's definitely far over the others. I guess progressive. What would some examples of "psychedelic techno" be?
-
It's not the psychedelics, it's the person. Plenty of people do psychedelics for fun and have no "mind expansion" experiences. Things like that come from the way a person perceives their experiences and integrates them into their lives.

So where is this CD now, 18 months later?

What music are you listening to right now?
Veracohr replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
Taiga This is a short classical guitar song I got the music for about 12 or 13 years ago in a high school guitar class. I love it. I didn't put much effort into the recording, and my playing leaves something to be desired, but it's a wonderful song. -
What soft synth to buy?
Veracohr replied to murphythecat's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Personally I would recommend Native Instruments' Massive. It can do analog as well as weird stuff, and there are lots of funky free plugins if you want really funky stuff. I'm not sure if they still have this package, but I got Native Instruments' "Komplete Synths" bundle, which had Massive, FM8, Pro-53 and Absynth. You can do just about everything you want with those 4. -

Are you kidding? Did they actually remove the ability to program the sound??? I would die of old age before I made it through 4 billions presets looking for the right one. -
I've heard good things. Let us know!

I didn't find much useful there. Just mention of a Roland JD-800 and a Waldorf Q.

live drumcircle recording
Veracohr replied to needle ninja's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Indeed, it does sound pretty good! Where was it recorded? I'd love to hear a binaural recording of a drum circle. -

Organization is overrated. A real man should never have any idea where the CD he is looking for actually is.

Does anybody happen to know or know where to find what synths the Crop Circles guys used on Tetrahedron? I suppose it would be a mix of whatever Etnica/Pleiadians and Lotus Omega used, but what would that be? I was listening to Tetrahedron and heard a bass sound I really liked, and wondered what synth it is from. Probably something stupidly common, but since I don't know...

You can hear some short samples on iTunes and Juno. Check out "Rendezvous in Outerspace". Have you heard the "Unreleased" album? It's similar to Into Deep, but a little less moody sounding. Also very good.

I have some downloads, and honestly, to me it feels like I don't really "have" the music if I don't have a physical medium. Like it doesn't count. I'm not really a collector of anything, so I don't have the "collector" personality, but with music it just doesn't seem right if I don't have a CD or record.

Cosmosis - Fumbling for the Funky Frequency
Veracohr replied to a topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
There's some cool sounds and whatnot in there...if only it weren't on top of annoying fullon basslines. I'm not super-familiar with older Cosmosis, but I've heard some, and this is disappointing. -

Omni or stereo? -
live drumcircle recording
Veracohr replied to needle ninja's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Not a big drum circle, but one of 4 people. If it's truly a circle, an omni right in the center would be best in my opinion. Drum circles have a loose, wild feel probably not best served by close miking the drums. -

Looking for a ocean surf with seagulls sample
Veracohr replied to Kai-Q's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
I've got a total of perhaps an hour of recordings from the Oregon coast. Not may birds in there, but there is at least one, which I used myself. They're not the best because they have some low-end rumble from the wind, but I can send them to you if you want. Two different locations for some variation. -
You've got a point there. I thing TNG was the best, and I was a teen in the 90's. I never really saw Voyager or DS9 much, but I think Voyager was all right and I hated the little I saw of DS9. I was into Enterprise when it first started, but it petered out pretty quickly. First Contact is my favorite movie, although I liked the new one a lot too. Obviously, I voted Star Trek. I don't dislike Star Wars (at least not the old ones anyway), but I like Star Trek better.
