That was a good movie, but I didn't find it particularly funny overall. It left me with some slightly weird feelings.

Recording guitars/vocals ect

Ah, yes. The POD is an amp simulator/modeler, intended for recording guitars direct without the crappy sound. It does have a preamp in it, but it's not really considered a "guitar preamp" specifically. -

Absolutely. If you are running a guitar preamp straight into a DAW without an amp simulator, it won't sound that good. Have a listen to the album recording of Nirvana's "Territorial Pissings". That guitar was a mix of direct and amped signals, and sounds thin (but not as thin as if it were direct only). But the better approach would be to get a full amp head and cabinet, or power amp and cabinet to complete your preamp. Or borrow or rent one. What kind of preamp do you have? -

Do you not have an amp, just a preamp? If that's all you have, then go out of the preamp into one of the 1/4" unbalanced inputs. -

I've never used Cubase, but there isn't any reason it shouldn't work. Tons of people use it for audio recording. You didn't mention a microphone; what do you have? Also what audio interface do you have? And what kind of sound are you trying to get? -
Best Full On I have heard in a looooooong time!

That is some pretty good stuff. I'm not sure how I feel about the increasing number of full-on artists I've heard lately that are challenging my disdain of full-on. -
That was a weird movie. Good, but weird. Hell yeah! :posford: I love that movie! Last couple movies I watched: Beerfest Movie by Broken Lizard, who brought you Supertroopers. Two brothers attempt to bring their grandfather's ashes to the family resting place in Germany during Oktoberfest, and end up in a rivalry with a German branch of the family centered around a secret annual beer-drinking competition. 9/10 - It's funny as hell, it's got gratuitous nudity, and a cameo at the end by Willie Nelson. What could be better? (Well, Supertroopers is, but just by a little.) Terminator 3 Do I really need to describe it? Everyone knows the Terminator premise. 5/10 - Could have scored higher if it weren't for the ridiculous things thrown in here and there. Arnie putting on star-shaped sunglasses? Blatant references to the franchise's popularity with a spinoff on the now-famous "I'll be back" line? It's kind of corny at times, but when I was watching it the other day, I thought about the pending continuation of the series, and I thought that the idea has lots of possibilities for future stories. I just hope the people involved in the future try not to be silly with it. Terminator and silly don't belong together. Office Space Another one everyone should now. Three co-workers who hate their jobs attempt to embezzle money from the company and fail miserably. 10/10 - An absolute comedic classic. It was funny as hell when I first saw it, long before I ever actually worked in an office. Now it's even funnier.

Will Ferrell is slapstick comedy. Black humor is like the recent movie "Burn After Reading" with Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Frances McDormand and John Malkovich. Which is an awesome movie, by the way.

Reduce it to 48kHz? What's it at now? How big is it if you leave the files at 24 bit, 44.1kHz?

If anyone is still interested in this idea, I now have Live for potentially more compatibility with others.

Do you ever find yourself repeatedly doing things in your creation of music that you wish you didn't? Things that just sort of seem to happen, even when you try to tell yourself not to do them? I have a problem of making things too subtle and mellow. I enjoy some progressivey stuff, but usually what really gets my excitement going when listening to music is aggressive, prominent parts, sounds and production values. Not necessarily abrasive, like I find a lot of full on and darkpsy to be, but things that refuse to sit on the back burner. Parts of songs that say "Here I am, and you're going to pay attention to me!". However, when I try to incorporate those kinds of values into my own music, I inevitably find them too overt, like I'm trying too hard, and I retreat into more subtle sounds. This of course is completely in tune with my personality, but you would think that if I really enjoy aggressive sounds, I would be able to use them in my own music without it feeling wrong and out of place.

I remember that story. At face value, I think it sounds more reasonable than individual lawsuits. Who knows how it will be in practice, but at least it's a possibility for a more reasonable attitude. It won't do any more or any less to curb file sharing, and no solution I've heard yet has any chance of changing certain people's sense of entitlement that leads to the "I deserve to get as much free shit as I can" attitude.

Good idea!

I just got this album today, and it blew me away! I like different kinds of goa: killargh tracks and grooving progressive tracks and weird psychedelic tracks, as long as it is full of beautiful feeling. I don't think I've been as moved by hearing a goa album for the first time since I first heard Chi-A.D.'s "Virtual Spirit" (which admittedly wasn't that long ago). Actually, I think I generally prefer goa with a bit more impact; this album is somewhat smoother than my usual favorites, but I just thought it was so good. I suspect it will quickly shoot to the top of my favorite list. I definitely have to check out "To Sirius"!

I just got it today. I haven't been "in the know" about it for years like a lot of people, so only just recently did I learn of it's legendary status. And like most things that are incredibly hyped, it didn't entirely live up to the hype for me. It was good, though. I give it a solid B. I got it in the same mailing as Ra's 9th, and in my opinion 9th blew away Tetrahedron.

Tell me the music isn't as stupid is the cover. :wank: I just got these in the mail today: Crop Circles: Tetrahedron Ra: 9th How do you get images from Discogs to post? Every time I try, they just don't show up. Yet the ridiculous cover above is from Discogs, although I don't know where the image is from since the URL is different and it's not even the same image (the main one on Discogs isn't as yellow).

Realistically, there's only so many melodies one can create in any given tonal system, so it shouldn't be strange that people may come up with similar melodies. Especially within the same genre of music. I was playing guitar once and came up with a chord progression I thought was pretty nice. I jammed on it a while, but eventually I realized it was "Glycerine" by Bush, so I put down the guitar and walked away.
