I don't think it's dead. It's just past it's peak, and is settling into a niche. http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=46011 It will only die if people keep saying and believing so.

Are you kidding? Tool has been redoing the same few songs for three albums now. They were good writers once, but they have not evolved for years.

money is not an isuee.......
Veracohr replied to zodiland's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Yeah, that's what I said. And it's nonsense. Just because it's the "industry standard" doesn't mean it's better. It's the industry standard because it came early. -
Perhaps I'm wrong, but I believe Daze is talking about one of those monitors that has speakers on the sides. Hence, "connecting it through the screen".

Industry standard is nonsense. It's only the most widely used because it was the first DAW that became popular. It's a matter of chance, not quality. Use whatever you find is best suited for your purposes. For a long time, ProTools was trailing the pack in MIDI implementation, though I think it's better now. -
Yup, that would be my guess. There's also the possibility that the design of the speaker setup in the monitor accentuated the low end, but most likely it was a smiley-face EQ curve. But the question is: is what you're hearing now actually lacking in low end, or is it normal, and only seems lacking relative to how it sounded previously? Super boosted bass is the norm in a lot of listening systems these days, but that's not necessarily how the producer intended it to sound.

It's awesome! I would buy this album, if you offered it on CD.

No, it's a reference to Star Trek. M-Class planets are planets capable of sustaining humanoid civilizations. Thanks for listening.

Have a listen to my newest song, "M-Class": http://www.veracohr.com/audio/M_Class.mp3 http://www.veracohr.com/audio/M_Class.ogg I seem to have this inability to create goa songs, despite my desire to. This is one of those songs that started out as an attempt at goa, and ended up being notgoa. Let me know what you think. I might make some minor mix changes in the future, and I might replace a 303 sound that I'm not too happy about, but I've been working on this song for a long time and it hasn't seen the light of day yet, so I thought I'd get some opinions on it.

That's what I updated from, I skipped a couple generations--2.72 to 5.1

Please PM me your address and the time of day you're most likely to not be home.

Well, it's not exactly gear, but I recently updated to Digital Performer 5:

I've noticed that my songs seem to be in a faster tempo when I'm off to the side of the monitors than when I'm sitting in front of them. But I don't work on music first thing in the morning, so I haven't noticed any such thing.

What music are you listening to right now?
Veracohr replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
Wow, this is a really long thread! Right now I'm listening to X-Dream "5th Dimension", thanks to my new "The Best 1991-2001"! -

While the parts on micing instruments may not be applicable to electronic music, everything else is universal. -
Well, not today, but a couple days ago I got Infected Mushroom's "The Gathering" and X-Dream "The Best 1991-2001". I have to say, I'm floored by the X-Dream comp. I'm so glad I got it! There's a few songs I haven't heard yet, but I think my favorite is "Our Own Happiness (303 Edit/Unreleased)". Not that I don't like "The Gathering" also, but the X-Dream one outshines it by far.

Haven't read it myself, but I hear good things about this one: Bruce Swedien - Make Mine Music As well as this one: Moses Avalon - Confessions of a Record Producer: How to Survive the Scams and Shams of the Music Business -
How many of you are part of the MCPS/STIM..
Veracohr replied to NEMO.BOFH's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
You talking to me or someone else? FYI: here's the RIAA list of members: http://www.riaa.com/about/members/default.asp There's individual artists on there. -

No. If anyone ever decided my music was worth releasing or using for something, there is no way I would allow it if it required association with the RIAA. I also refuse to give my money to a member of the RIAA. When I want to buy a CD, I check the RIAA's website to see if the label is a member. If it is, I don't buy it, or I buy it used. I will not give money to an organization that sues it's own customers. http://www.boycott-riaa.com -
It's kind of like the movie "Speed", where if the bus goes less than 50mph, it explodes. Well, if I don't make music often enough, I will explode. Actually, it's just that music is my whole life. And a lot of feelings I have I can't articulate into words, but they're ripe for musical expression. If I didn't make music, I would just fester.

The only other one available did sound cool from the samples I listened to, but the Best of had the type of songs I wanted right now. I'll probably get the other one somewhere down the road.

On its way from Saiko Sounds: X-Dream "The Best of 1991-2001" Infected Mushroom "The Gathering" Eventually, I'll catch up to some of you people. There's just so much to get!

FYI, that's allegoric, not metaphoric.

I listened to about 2/3 of it, but didn't have time to finish it yet. It's pretty good, but seems a little lacking at parts. I don't know if just didn't finish it, or perhaps his inspiration for the style gave out and that's why he didn't release it.
