Green nuns of the revolution - Ring of fire - Best full on e

I love Atomic Armadillo, that track makes me go nuts every time i hear it. I just get a huge grin on my face and start flailing around like a madman All their music was pretty awesome though. -
At least there's still some good chill I don't like the "new style" generally. I like melodies, not random sound effects. Hearing the same bassline repeat over and over with some wierd noises just doesnt work for me. I like music that's....well musical. Most new psy just gives me a headache.

Another one bites the dust

It's one of the best albums i've heard this year so far (not that thats saying much), it's fantastic. Looks like i'm not the only person who thinks so

Entheogenic - Golden Cap - CHILLCD005

Thanks for the link. Can't wait to hear this album -
lol man, calm down. Don't get me wrong there have been some good chill releases, but it just seems like there's a lot more crap to sift through. Bluetechs elementary particles was honestly one of the best chill albums ive heard, and capsula's latest album was quite good. Other than that though, theres hasnt been much good chill IMO. The new shulman was good, but half the cd is remixes. Maybe i just missed some good stuff on compilations, i havent heard very many comps lately. I suppose if i compared it to other genres of music, psy is doing quite well, most types of music it's 99.9% bad, at least with psy it's like 90%.

Yeah, when i said "new" chillout i didn't really mean the last couple years. The last couple years have been shit overall for both psy-trance and "psy-chill". I find it hard to differentiate between "psychill" and other types of chill anyway. It's all pretty psychadelic to me I'm getting more and more into ambient stuff too lately. The new Biosphere is just incredible.

Indeed, this is what dark trance should be. This just feels so evil. I normally don't even like "dark-psy", but this album is just great. I definately recommend this to anyone, even if you're not into dark-psy necessarily.

This is a no brainer really. 'Old' Psy by far. New chillout is really great though.
-
Wow, that stream is great, thanks!

The new Shulman album has some nice ethnic sounding tracks, although it has too many non-original (remixes) for my tastes. My favorite non-psy ethnic music is Ravi Shankar (indian) and Moktar-Al-Said (Middle eastern, not sure exactly where from).
-
This is just a guess, and im probably completely wrong but here goes: Psy/Goa - 15% Chill - 20% Metal - 15% 60's/70's rock (mostly psychedlic stuff) - 20% Punk (mostly dead kennedys) - 5% Popish music (bands people have heard of ) - 5% Rap - 5% Classical/Sound tracks - 10% (this includes classic middle-eastern/indian stuff) Other stuff 5% (mostly really old jazz from the 30s/40s and some instrumental guitar)

This thread got me thinking, and I actually don't think i've heard a good non-psy song this year so far

Those albums that you can play to your non

My friends seem to hate anything without lyrics and a 4/4 kick, because it's too "repetative" The funny thing is a lot of them like the White Stripes, which has got to be about the most simple and repetative music ive ever heard. -
Hey, i was just wondering if any of you guys knew of any cool/interesting sounding scales that are fun to play around with. Obviously we shouldn't necessarily just stick to scales and make cookie-cutter music, but i think scales are at least a good starting point for melodies. So, have you guys found any particular scales/modes that sound good to you? If so post them here. I personally think the Byzantine scale sounds pretty nice. Here's a link to it, it's for guitar, but it's easy to convert it: http://jguitar.com/scalelisting?scale=Byzantine Here's an easier one, i made: Byzantine

Maybe they dont have such step mountains, and that somehow effects their music choice?

ahaha. He sounds like he's retarded I really don't understand how anyone could like that crap...I mean, i would think this a joke if i didn't know better...it's THAT bad.

I have the Sennheiser HD280pros. They work great for producing and listening both. They are very clear/crisp and allow you to hear every little sound in the music. They also have the perfect amount of bass, they don't overdo it like some headphones. I couldn't ask for a better pair of headphones, especially for $90-$100. I don't really know about DJing though. The only real downside is their looks, but if you're buying headphones for looks, i think you have the wrong idea...

My new pumping goa trance...
travbrad1001 replied to afgin's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Wow, great track! I really hope you get on a compilation, this is MUCH better than 99% of the stuff being released nowadays. I'm a big fan of goa, and this is probably the best song i've heard all year. Seriously top notch stuff. Keep up the good work! -
I had heard a few euro-trance artists before I got into psy, although it tended to be the really floaty/chilled-out type stuff. Man With No Name was one of the "eurotrance" artists actually. I asked on some forum if there was any trance that wasn't so boring/simplistic, and I got TONS of recommendations for progressive euro-trance but i didn't really care for it. Then one person recommended I check out psy-trance and recommended I check out Hallucinogen - LSD. The rest, as they say, is history I do like some other electronic music though, my favorites being Aphex Twin/AFX and Amon Tobin

WOW, this album is fantastic. I love all the tracks, with OMG being my favorite. This is Shulman's finest album yet in my opinion, even if there are a couple remixes. The tracks don't flow together that great, but that doesn't make the music any less amazing. This is definately the best album i've heard so far this year, and it's going to be difficult for anything to top it. The album is just so chilled out, yet very psychedelic at the same time. Some chill-out isn't really that trippy, but this has heaps of psychedelia mixed in with a perfect chilled-out ethnic atmosphere. The music is just so incredibly soothing. If i had to describe it in one word i would say "bliss". This is the most emotion I have felt from any music in a long time.

I expect it to be full-on, i just hope it's some of that rare full-on that's actually good

Hey, at least radi is entertaining
