Well, looks like you've done it. You clicked this thread, tempted to see a cat, or maybe two cats, or perhaps you were feeling lucky enough to spot a dozen cats. Well, why don't you just post your own cat, a friends cat, some cat on the internet, a cat in a tree, a cat on a cat, not a cat inside a cat, and why not a sleeping cat or a laughing cat or a cat driving a car into a brick wall pissing off the owner because insurance does not cover cats driving things into walls? Yes, welcome to the cat thread, where all cat related things will be intensified. I will start with my friends low resolution cat, Sandy, a very talkative shedding feline with a liking for pineapples and cars.

If you could punch one celebrity in the face...

That Trance2MoveU guy sure does rustle up my trousers. I'd like to show him a fair fight in pistol etiquette! By golly, a slight dash in the nose wouldn't serve enough justice for such treacherous sins. -
WOW ^ ^ ^ What in the world. One day, one day I will be in the middle of that...

OH MAN, I wish I could see Derango live. He is the very first darkpsy/forest producer I have ever listened to, and I can easily tell his performance will be a trip into another dimension. I have no way of getting out there... It's thousands of miles away from me :C As for the psytrance scene where I am, I am the one trying to bring psychedelic artwork to the dance floor. I am buying a large white tarp, hanging it on the ceiling, and putting white duck tape on the dance floor with a lot of black lights, then getting two projects and streaming 720p Eectric Sheep fractal animations on the bottom and on the top for people to dance in. Now I need some glowing palm trees, Huluhoop dancers, and poi everywhere lol. (And $2000 for the setup)

I have been studying the evolution of electronic music and its culture for about eight years now. From what I know about Goa, 1994 - Now, the evolution of the genre is similar to the evolution of every other electronic genre. Simply put, people have access to more technology. Because of this, the psytrance sounds of today are much more diverse. Goa, however, strives on being nostalgic, simple, and engulfing. The whole "NeoGoa" movement, I feel, is attempting to bring back that vision and improve upon it. The famous album "Twisted," for example, is considered one of the best Goa albums to date, likely because it is often considered the first. It brought forth a new set of theory that really blew people away. The mastering, however, wasn't necessarily all that fantastic. There are many areas I think could be improved upon, earning the personal score of the album a 9/10. Now, we could reproduce it, and make it sound even better. There are people who will suggest the oldschool sounds are better than the newschool sounds as well. It is all a matter of taste and how you grew up on it.

Can you find the first post you ever made at psynews?
FatKidWitAJetPak replied to Ormion's topic in Off Topic
I left my house yesterday, attempting to reveal the dark, seemingly hidden secrets of my past. It all started with a single thread, challenging me to go forth and find the very first post I had made on Psynews. As the pixels reflected off of my large framed glasses, I pushed them against my forehead and made a satisfying snort. It was time for a journey. Through treacherous mountains, the scorning bellowing of tribes echoed throughout the desert as I searched so desperately to find my beginnings. The sun screamed down upon my face, forcing me to throw drop after drop of sweat down onto the sandy ground below. I battered my head with my fist, regretting the decision I had made. Why had I gone on this pilgrimage into the unknown? I didn't even know where to start. As the sun slowly set behind the wet caverns of my homeland, I sat silently against an uncomfortable rock. I was hungry for pizza rolls, and I would have been eating them if it weren't for my rash mistake leaving the comfort of my home out of sheer boredom. I made conversation with a cactus next to me, realized I was talking to a cactus, and simply said "fuck". I rudely left the cactus in the middle of my philosophical conundrum and decided it was best to turn back and face the penalty of being home after supper. Then again, I wasn't quite sure if my step father noticed my absence. He was likely stuck in yet another dramatic climax from one of his Norwegian soap operas, or perhaps he was attempting to poorly hand write an apology letter to my mother who ran off with a model, whom had a taste for many fancy cheeses. I remember the smell of those cheeses. They drenched the bland wall paper of our house with horrible smells, as if another plane of existence was being summoned from the sheer terror of Limburger. As I pondered bio-mechanical warfare possibilities with mozzarella, I looked up for a rare moment and realized I had no idea where I was. This was common, and usually I was not startled by any stretch of the imagination, but at this particular moment I was greeted by the drool from a large, grey monster with three hundred teeth, fifty-eight arms, and a giant nose. Its growl shattered my heart and made the single tiny hair on my chest stand straight up. I immediately realized my interpretation of this mythical creature was an exaggeration, but couldn't help but utter some strange phenomenon from deep within my bowels. Yes, I shit myself. Embarrassed, I apologized to the wolf. He replied with another growl. I wasn't certain what to say next, as I had never actually conversed with a wolf. I am sure my school had a lesson or two on the subject, but my addiction to funny looking cats on the internet demolished my teachers dreams of me ever paying attention to such content. I decided it was best to reach out my hand for a gentlemen-like shake. The wolf apparently did not appreciate the gesture, as he clawed at my arms with extreme force. Not only had I never spoken to a wolf, but I had never fought one either, so I made the most logical decision anyone would. Flailing my arms wildly like some autistic eagle, I jumped into a nearby hole. I was lucky enough to learn at that moment wolfs don't like holes, since he didn't jump in with me. I placed a small, imaginary victory trophy on a dusty shelf inside my head. Discoveries had always pleased me. As I fell down the strange pit, I waved the animal goodbye. Perhaps he would give me another chance someday and we could go on a nice date to Olive Garden. I could meet his family, discuss politics over a nice glass of brandy, and forget about the worlds troubles sitting next to a warm fire upon vinyl furniture. I then made it a goal to study wolf culture and courtesy to avoid future conflict. I wondered if wolfs even liked vinyl. At least, I am sure that would have been my next thought if it werent for the surprising thump of a stone against my head. Moments later, I slowly leaned up as my head throbbed in pain. The world spun in all directions as blood trickled down my face. I looked at my watch, hoping to see the time, but I discovered I had no watch. How odd. Well, I guess that did make sense. After all I had a serious disliking for arm decorations. I dotted down a note next to my virtual trophy cabinet to consider buying a watch at some point. I stood up and looked above me. I had fallen quite a ways and was certainly not climbing back up. It was dark, but the glow of my cracked iPhone slightly lit the apparent underground maze. I continued walking, looking for an exit of some sorts. After a few hours of getting absolutely nowhere, I made a loud moan of annoyance and sat down. The cave was barren, cold, and extremely boring. There was nowhere else to go, and I was definitely lost. Staring at the ground in depression, I came to the conclusion that not only had I not found my first post on Psynews, I had gotten myself stranded in an abyss soon to be my grave. There was nothing else left to do but to sit and wait for death to come. Hours passed. "Where the hell is he??" I thought. Life was becoming extremely tedious and I was quite ready for it to end by the deathly touch of the grim reaper. I was sure he was a busy man, but I personally felt my situation to be a little bit more important than most. Finally, a shadowy figure approached. "Well it's about damn time you showed up," I said. The beast reached out his arm, and I prepared for the worst. "WOW!" it screamed as it placed a large, sweaty hand on my shoulder. Startled, I stared into the glossy eyes of an odd looking dwarf-sized man. "Your the first person to come here in AGES!" he stated. Confused, I asked him a very serious question. "What the fuck are you talking about". He smiled eagerly. "You, you are in my house! Welcome!". I had no idea who would call such a dreadful place their "house", but then I thought back to my home and didn't see much a difference. I guessed it could easily be a house. "Come, I want to show you something," he said. Without a choice, I followed the random character into the darkness for a number of minutes until we stopped at a dead end. He fiddled with the wall for a moment and flicked an oddly placed light switch. Hidden amongst the underground pit was a cozy, well-lit room with a bricked fire place, tasteful carpet, and vinyl chairs. He begged for me to have a seat, and I gladly did so. We talked for an hour or so about my journey while sharing a glass of fine wine. He nodded his head in excitement and turned on a computer on a desk. He actually had an account on Psynews! This man, living all alone deep inside an abandoned crevice in the earth was on one of my favorite forums! As we shared psytrance tales, he revealed to me that his username was "radi6404". We talked for hours, in fact I am sitting next to him right now. He is such a fine gentleman with a great taste for music and culture. You know, even though I went through a lot today, an awful lot, after all of that I think it was worth it. We listened to some great tunes, played chutes and ladders, and roasted a delicious chicken. Then we cuddled. I learned a lot today, and I must thank the poster for inspiring me to go on such an incredible journey. Alas, I was never able to find my first post… but at least I was able to find my first friend. -

Hey thanks!!! I would love to come to North Carolina... I would have to plan a month in advanced or so since I work Full Time. I will definitely message you and you can be my almighty psychedelic guide. Here was the lineup for the event. There were a lot of people from Anomalistic Records. -
crying samples in trance and ambient
FatKidWitAJetPak replied to radi6404's topic in General Psytrance
This album constantly makes me cry, because it is an expression of raw, untainted emotion in its purest form. It reminds me of the world inside my head, the world that no one ever can see until I show them. This is why I make ambient music, because I feel it is the only way I can show just how I feel. Sigur Ros does a wonderful job at combining the talents of their beautiful compositions with the artistic expressions of many worlds. There are multiple perspectives in their music, each with a different story. They decided to play the album "Valtari" all across the globe, on top of smoky African volcanoes, inside icy caverns in Antarctica, through grassy hills of New Zealand, and hundreds of other places. In these places, they presented a series of animations and movies created by hundreds of volunteers who shared their visions with the world. This is one of them, and it definitely makes me cry. -

Here is another poster: (one of my favorites) -
My first Psytrance music festival was one of the greatest experiences of my life!! There was a huge and diversified culture, tons of intricate glowing artwork, and some of the best music I have ever listened to. I met a lot of incredible people, camped for two nights in the middle of the forest, and discovered new horizons. I will DEFINITELY be going to more! Thank you so much Atrium Obscurum, you guys are incredible. Here in Arkansas, it is VERY rare to come across such delicacies. I have never heard this kind of stuff in person... It was so amazing. Check out the video I made about the event here: If you are anywhere near Texas, they throw one at least once a year and I highly recommend it. I also bought some psytrance gear for decorating my walls.

Also... anyone ever play this incredible game? Geometry wars. Really awesome arcade style game, one of my favorites. Lots of colors and drum n bass.

Any Psytrance Lovers From The United States?

Hey there, how much for Derango - Tumult?

At first, I thought you were talking about Troll N Roll Records. I was really excited, because I have not heard anything from them in a long time. Then I realized I read it incorrectly. Awwww mann. Well, thank for the review! I see artists tone down things from time to time, but it is hard to know if they are doing it out of fear of being judged or simply out of interest. I really love the album artwork by the way.

Any Astral Projection Lovers From The United States?
FatKidWitAJetPak replied to Richpa's topic in General Psytrance
Astral Projection was the very first Psytrance group I discovered, back in 2009. I downloaded a torrent online (uhoh!!!) containing 20 "Best" psytrance artists. This was a HUGE journey for me, as I had never even heard of Goa before. I listened to the entire Astral Projection discography and noted the difference in styles from the 90s into the 2000s. They definitely get a bit more full-on as time progresses, but I REALLY enjoy it. In the beginnings, when I first heard Astral Projection, I thought all Psytrance was like that. Then I realized, after listening to the other 20 artists discographies (S.U.N. Project, Etnica, Black and White, Xerox and Illumination and more) Astral Projection has a very defined mark. This mark still engulfs me to this day. It is certainly very simplistic at points, often called repetitive, and too heavy for some folks, but for me I enjoy sitting back to the journey. I drive a lot listening to Astral Projection. It is quite the trip! And seriously... the oldschool sounds of 90s psytrance has an extreme uniqueness to it. I can not quite put my finger on it. -
Ah man!!! Peace be with you brother... Dissapear into space, but you will never vanish from my heart!

I woke up this morning, staring elegantly at the sunlight pouring through the shimmering green leaves of my oak tree and thought to myself "what a beautiful day". I took a shower, put on my favorite pair of underwear, and made myself some breakfast. Afterwards, it was time for one thing. The internet. So here I am. On the internet. Browsing around on Psynews pondering topics questioning the universe of psychedelic trance. My step-sister suddenly texted me, just a few moments ago, interrupting my infatuation of colorful pixels on some random image thread. She asked, "know of any good music I can listen to bro". So, of course I said, "Yeah check out some psytrance on Ektoplazm". I realized that was a stupid thing to say, because she responded with "what the hell is psytrance". Then it hit me. Here in the middle of nowhere Arkansas, where the most familiar sound is a cow mooing in pain from a hot piece of iron branding her thighs, no body knows what Psytrance is. Hell, they barely know anything outside the realms of Country, Rock, and gangsta smashing rap. Well, ok, maybe I am being stereotypical. Maybe Im an egotistical asshat who thinks he has discovered more than everyone around him. Maybe. All I know is most of this "psychedelic trance" business takes place on the other side of the world where cars fly and buildings tower into space. (or so I have heard, from the internet, where everything is true) SO here is my question... is there anybody here that listens to Psytrance in the United States? What about from the South? Am I all alone in the middle of this giant green field where the only thing to accompany the baselines from my Darkpsy are the apple trees? This post may or may not be a large exaggeration of my life, other than the fact that literally no one around me ever listens to Psytrance, or any electronic music for that matter.

Brand new Shpongle just released!
FatKidWitAJetPak replied to Lemmiwinks's topic in General Psytrance
When I first heard Hallucinogen, I didn't get it. It really didn't sound all that appealing. Then I listened to it at a party on a big speaker system and witnessed energy like never before. It took me a month or so, but I finally started liking it and now I can't get enough. I DJ with it all the time and the crowd just goes nuts. The sound is so progressive and pure. It's the first of it's kind. There are definitely more advanced and much better albums out there (I am speaking of Twisted) but looking back, it was fucking incredible. This is coming from a 21 year old, so I never grew up with it. I just opened my mind and thought "whats the big deal". I can't really explain it. It just hit me, kabam, and I fell in love. -
I have respected Infected Mushroom and ALWAYS will. Every one of their albums sound different from one another, and I personally feel they bring new ideas and innovation into electronic music. They may not innovate as much as they use to, but their performance still stands strong... In fact, I consider them to be some of the best performers in the world. There comes a time when producing perfect content every album becomes improbable, and I do not think of them any less when I hear a new album that doesn't match the original Infected Mushroom expectation. They are making money, and they deserve it. It is extremley difficult to make a career out of producing music. There are many rules you have to bend and let go of in order to get into that mindset. I mean damn, as long as they never become egotistical skrillex-like asshats that think "WAH WOH WOBBLE WOBBLE OH MY GOD WAAHHHOOOOORUMPH" sounds good, then I'm perfectly alright with whatever they do.
