O Lucky Man. "Revolution is the opiate of the intellectuals"

Y'all need this in your ears: https://www.discogs.com/Infinity-Project-The-Infinity-Project-EP/master/9696 Proto psy, very proto, but so smooth and trippy.

Psychedelia =! psytrance tho. Dude, early Laurie Spiegel is DOPE. So is Elaine Radigue, if you have enough patience.

That depends on the males. I think that record collecting, interest in electronics, synthesizers ect. are things that men are encouraged to pursue much, much more than women. So if you're female, it can be intimidating to join a group of hardcore music enthusiasts, especially if the music is electronic. Also, if a group starts out as mostly men, it's probably going to stay that way unless some serious attempt is made to mix things up. There's an interesting article I read recently about women in geek circles, not specifically music related but I think a lot of its points apply here: http://www.doctornerdlove.com/2016/02/geek-behaviors-that-turn-women-off/

astralprojection, which track are you talking about?

Wavin Electronic is my jam. Hypnotic mind massaging spaciness. It makes me want to sell my worldly possessions, move to a commune in Freiburg and grow turnips. Back on topic: Syrinx - Tremolo Heaven Hypercycle - Hypercycle HMI - Allan Hills Thorsten Minning - Jungle Space Proton - Brainfusion pt. 1 Esion - Biologic Evolution Pyxis - Messala Mos Fet - Supersonic Wind Vincent - Induction Ritual Ariane - Objectif Mercury Anoid - Stardancer

Just to throw in some lesser known artists, I've never heard a duff track from Polyploid or Taika-Kim.

That's the sound of a DAT grinding its gears. Just think of it as adding authentic grit to the track. IIRC Anahata had a similar glitch on that CD.

I love their original three albums. Hypnorhythm is probably their strongest but they all have their spine chilling moments. Transwave tracks had drama. That's something goa needs more of.

Mystical Experiences is probably my favorite album to come out of the goa scene. At least favorite non-dance album. I like TIP's dance tracks too... they paved the way for a trippier, tweakier, more soundscape driven psy. What's amazing to me is that their style seemed to come out of nowhere (from the darkness? )...'Hyperactive' is from 1991, and it predicted how British trance would develop to a downright scary extent...

Edited. You might be interested in the books 'Storming Heaven: LSD and the American Dream' by Jay Stevens, and 'Weird Scenes Inside The Canyon' by David McGowan. Not about Manson specifically, but they go into the "dark side" of hippie culture and the hippie's relationship with government and intel agencies.

What do you think of this track? I know, mastering sucks, but putting that aside for now. I think there is serious potential here. One of the new producers I'm watching most anxiously. Give me more dark-melodic goa like this please

Maybe my favorite "proggy" psytrance album. Though it's more spacy than proggy.

"Come down off your spaceship, Charles" I think he was a crank. Occasionally an interesting crank, but a lot of dictators and cult leaders could be called interesting cranks too. I have a lot more sympathy for Sharon Tate who was killed by the Manson followers. And Roman Polanski, who had to lose his family once to the Nazis and again to the Manson family. (It's another topic, but I don't condemn Polanski, because I can't imagine living through all that he did and not having some lasting psychological damage. He's also directed some of the most implicitly feminist movies ever made, which doesn't excuse his raping a girl but suggests that at least part of him knows better.)

Style of Future Sound of London?
Blair Thaumic replied to Goa Travellers's topic in Other Electronica
Ambient techno. At least that's what I've always called it. -
Somewhere in the middle of the trance ocean lies a lost island, where the grooves that don't fit in anywhere else can be found. On this island, strange percussion-loving creatures frolic to a sound that can be heard from the rocky beaches to the deepest jungle. All attempts to locate it on a map have been stymied by its neither-here-nor-there-ness, and the travellers that have returned from its shores tell wildly implausible tales. Some tell of a nostalgic Goan feeling in the air; others of a psychedelia that recalls the eclectic spirit of the late 90s, when experimentation and rule breaking was the norm. To be sure, the story always has a beginning, middle, and end; but its meaning will be different for each person who hears it. Such is the effect of a stay on the Island of Misfit Grooves... Tracklist: 1. New Born - Hiding 2. Ankrosado - Morning Glory 3. Veasna - Warp 4. Wakavanha - Space to Be 5. Hypnic Lab - Drunky Knight & Shiny Courtesans 6. Yakui Bass Camp - Cyber Razor Cut 7. ADU - Stage of Illusions 8. Ruby Plexus - Finding Balance 9. Wakavanha - Dying to Blossom 10. Calm City - Into Your Dreams Compiled by Blair Thaumic Mastering by Colin OOOD Artwork by Bimshwel Download it here: https://thaumicrecords.bandcamp.com/album/island-of-misfit-grooves All proceeds from this album will go to support animal protection and food security in the developing world through our chosen charity, A Well-Fed World. Clive Barker - Imajica Read this over the last week and a half (all 800+ pages, jeez) Not a big fan of fantasy but I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Psychedelia, theology, light amounts of science fiction and a bit of horror. If you like Michael Moorcock's Elric books or the later PKD (Valis trilogy in particular) you'll like this too.
