  1. I feel so ashamed... I've had the first three Shpongle albums but only really listened to the first one which I love a lot. I finally decided after having them for a year to give the other two a proper listen, and man do I love this stuff so much. This track is definitely a favorite of mine. I love how the first half or so is a bit melacholic, calming, and a bit nostaglic (or at least for me) and then it turns into a more upbeat as it goes toward the end. Hearing this live must be awesome.
  2. Seems very interesting. Of course I'm no philosopher/scientist/guru/chooseyourperson, but it sounded nice to hear if anything else even if it may be lots of bs.
  3. If I remember correctly from interviews and what I've read, what eventually became trance (trance as in general, not all the specifics) was known as Trance Dance.
  4. I saw the review for that module. It seems like a total monster. I would love if I had a friend who was into modular stuff so that I could check it out. I think a local synth store may have it but I doubt they have it out of the box to play around with.
  5. Obviously the simple reason is that folks did some drugs and God came to them and showed them his kind of music which folks have been trying emulate that heavenly sound ever since now known as Goa and everything else.
  6. Hmm, this sounds very interesting. Can't wait to see the results.
  7. I really like this. It sort of has that old goa vibe to it.
  8. Oh man, I cannot wait for that album to come quicker!
  9. Now that you guys mention it, I realized I could have promoted it on some sites where I know folks would definitely would have been interested in this. I'll try to keep it in mind next time.
  10. Well, I'm pretty much out of high school and moving onto college. I would say that I regret some things but I don't tend to focus on it too much since I don't see a point on focusing on it and would rather focus on the present and what I can do for now (and for the future). Besides, I get easily nostalgic and depressed when I think too much about the past but then I remember how bad some of my friends were and makes me glad that I left them.
  11. Luckily what I do for now is related to the construction of houses so I don't usually overstep it at work. Just do what I need to and listen to some trance or whatever else. Luckily I don't have annoying co-workers or anything like that. The worse I've endured is some bad jokes from co-workers but that's it.
  12. Oh ya I agree that it is a blessing to be in the modern world despite of the many problems that still exist and will exist in the future. So much music that I haven't been able to find in the past due to lack of technology or whatever else.
  13. Well guys it's now updated here: http://thedancemusicguide.com/psychedelic-trance Two other folks and I tried and hope that it represents some of the stuff relatively fine.
  14. I am liking this remix or at least the parts that are shown.
  15. Oh ya, forgot about that series. I'll definitely check out. Thanks for reminding me!
  16. So first before you do anything, check this link: http://thedancemusicguide.com/ What is this site? Well since Ishkur hasn't updated his in some time (though I heard rumors that he is currently building a new updated site but whatever), a guy I know started this site for stuff that is after 2000. It's not meant to be an extremely extensive site with lots of description but more of a showcase of different styles and the songs from each style over the past 14-15 years. So the guy who is in charge of the site and he asked me (and a few others) to help him out. As you can already guess he is asking for help in the psy-trance portion. While for now he is planning to put it under the trance section, he said he might consider making its own section since it is a huge genre with diverse styles. So what am I asking? Well if you look at the site you will notice how it is split into different years such as 2000-2003, 2004-2007, 2008-2011, 2012-2014. My problem is that I have a lot more Goa and other stuff than other styles like dark psy (which I enjoy some but not as much as the other stuff). What are 14 tracks you guys think can best represent these time periods. I have my own list of stuff but I wanted to check out and see if there's more stuff out there that is good. I try to keep a balance between Goa, Full On, Dark, some Progressive, and just Psytrance that doesn't really fit under these styles. Thanks for your help (if you do help)!
  17. A lot of good (and bad) comments here, I have to agree with John. I make music first for myself, if other folks like it that's great if not then oh well. Also Radi, why not take this from a more positive viewpoint (if that's the right word). Take advice from folks, see what you can do about your music, and mature from the whole process.
  18. We should limit the votes to either 303 or 604 every year. But it is a shame about the amount of votes, but glad I participated this year. Also thanks for all the work! Not even surprised about the top 10, but it is justified. Glad to see there's still a good amount of stuff I haven't listened to yet, this definitely means that I got a lot more fun and music to get through.
  19. Well progressive actually varies a lot depending on the year and artist. Especially when you start listening to normal progressive trance, which also has a lot of variances. While there a good amount of not so great artist in the style, I love progressive so much, it has lots of good melodies and atmospheres.
  20. Well Radi, I'm sorry to say this but you are foolish to think that. Think about it, the original track was a Goa track so of course the remix would most likely still be similar to it with John's own twist to it. Second, John is well known to be a progressive trance artist which should ring any bells that it most likely wont be the same as the remix or even some of his other works since progressive is a very style. But whatever, I don't really care. This is something not worth fighting about.
  21. I was worried that this wasn't going to be very terrible, but I found that I like it. It may not be the greatest thing in the world, but it's listenable which is a good thing.
  22. Umm radi.... Mahadeva is Goa while this is more progressive. There's no point at all in comparing them.
  23. Wow, you guys are in for a treat then. I love most of his works.
