One thing that bothers me is why so many videos of any electronic music usually has a picture of some lady? Is the scene dominated that much by males, that we have to have pictures of females to satisfy ourselves?

I honestly can't stand trap music. Ya I do agree that there are some interesting sounds but that's where it ends for me. The music style reminds me of drunkards head banging and moshing. But the 2nd song you posted wasn't that bad. But man I do hate those air horns. Eh, maybe I'm just bias and have a dislike for stuff that gets really mainstream and commercial.

Roland new Aira: Tr-8 and TB-3
desysko replied to desysko's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
We have a bunch of cheap (well compared to other vintage stuff) Roland gear in the US, especially the Juno series. I think the touchscreen is pretty interesting but that said, I still prefer to get the x0xb0x. I'm waiting to see if my local synth store will have a supply of some of the gear, but the tr-8 seems interesting, I know that some folks really dislike it how you can't sample, I think that's a legitimate complaint/. I currently use Drumazon for 909 sounds (and it ain't that bad either). I can't some problems with the vst, like I'm not sure whether I can export the patterns into midi, because honestly it is a pain to have program with the keyboard. -
What music are you listening to right now?
desysko replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
Quite a nice song. I really love the chill atmosphere. -
You know what that means? Music Time!

Well looks like with the current weather, I ain't going nowhere tomorrow. Gotta love the Midwest and all the snow that we get. I shoveled to snow earlier and it was only 1-2 inches but 4 hours later (that is now) it is already 5-7 inches and still snowing until tomorrow. Hopefully classes are canceled, need more time to write up a short paper on some art artifacts and how it applies to the history of that region.

Wow! You can really see the progress from the first one to the second to the third one. The second one looks pretty interesting, but I still think the 3rd one is the best.

How would you rate the last 10 years of Goa Trance music
desysko replied to Richpa's topic in General Psytrance
Ya, one thing that I noticed about the normal trance (when I say normal I'm referring to trance that isn't psy/goa) is that it has taken some influences from the Goa/psy scene. Well it always has been there with some of the uplifting trance songs and some of the tech-trance stuff, but it really has shown up a lot more recently especially with the rise of popularity from JOOf, Bryan Kearney, Askew, Angry Man, and all the other trance djs and producers. I have to say that I am a bit happy about it. I don't mind having more psy in the everyday trance. -
I've only listened to the first song so far, but I am enjoying it very much. Awesome.

Great list. Loving that background of the image.

Ya so true about everything. I know that when I do whatever work I do, whether it is painting, music related, speech, etc, I like it when I get information of what the other person wants and is aiming for. I have to say that Filteria's album cover is one of the most beautiful ones I've seen. I just love it so much. It's perfectly balanced and sends a clear message. I also liked Crossing Mind's The Inner Shift. Love how it is all jagged and broken like a piece of glass.

I've finally listened to this today on my speakers while driving since that's when I have the most free time to listen. It was interesting. I like the atmosphere of the songs. One thing I have to say about E-mantra's stuff is that his stuff can be a bit hard to listen to for the first time. It takes several listens to understand more and more of the songs, especially with all the chaos going around (but in a good way), sort of like Cosmic Dimension's album. That album took a while to grow properly on me. I will have to give it a couple more times to listen to, but I would recommend this album.

Very great read. Thanks for typing all of that. I agree a whole lot when you mentioned the thing about lots of colours and terrible fonts. Bothers me when I can barely make out what's going on the cover because I'll be honest and say that I do sometimes judge albums based on the cover. It is interesting I'll definitely check it out, but if it is just terrible or something way out there then I may not. One thing I love is when the Artist have pamphlets or lots of writing on their album covers. It is interesting to read what they have to say, sometimes it helps create the mood of the album like one of Son Kite's album where there were I think 5 pages of writing describing their back story and the album or LOUD's Free From Conceptual Thoughts. Thanks again.

Man, that is some awesome art. Not that I ever plan on doing graphic designing, but I have a question. How do you do all of that art? I find it interesting to read how some folks do it.

A bit late, but I freaked out when I discovered that from another friend. Loved the t.v. special they had. I've heard that the original tv series wasn't not that great... and the same for the films. Oh well, the manga is always good whenever Muira updates it after 6-12 months.

Thanks for the link! Hmm...it's chillout. Not that I have anything against it, but I already have lots of it. (sigh) I guess I'll have to check it out since the cover is so nice.

So have you guys heard the news? I know that not all folks here are hardware freaks, but this seems somewhat interesting to me. The Tr-8 doesn't sound that bad actually, considering it is a virtual analog. For those who haven't kept up, the Tr-8 is drum machine that is suppose to emulate the 808 and the 909. But the thing that really bothers me is the Tb-3. If you haven't guessed already, it is suppose to emulate the 303 and also contains non 303 sounds. It doesn't sound that bad also, but the problem for me is how good is it actually. I've been planning to buy the x0xb0x and use that but man, considering the price of the tb-3 and some of the features, I am tempted to consider buying one. But I really liked the x0xb0x. Argh, why does this have to happen? Here's a link of some demos of the two synths: http://plus.pointblanklondon.com/first-look-roland-aira-tr-8-tb-3/

Come from Slavic background, my family is from the USSR. Ya, Christianity and a communist totalitarian government don't mix well. I had a my period of exploration of the world and such and eventually officially calling myself a Christian since last year. No, not one of those republicans who call themselves Christians and the support warring in other countries and etc. Along with that I'm a go along with the idea of voluntarism, so don't expect me to support the government enforcing my ideals on you or others. If I did happen to meet any of you, I think we would be good friends regardless.

Man that is very pleasing to my eyes. What album is that?

desysko replied to Richpa's topic in General Psytrance
I was never part of the original scene, but from I have listened from the old and the new. I welcome the new. I do have to agree that there is a lot of bright songs out there, never a bad thing. But we could use some darker stuff like some of the others have mentioned. Maybe we'll eventually see a turn toward darker stuff? And then a decline in goa and a revival in Full On? And the the cycle starts all over again? -
Yea, you can never go wrong with Hybrid. Great songs, great group.

How the mighty have fallen. Pick the worst fall.
desysko replied to Ormion's topic in General Psytrance
I never really liked space tribe that much to be honest. Or at least the several songs that I've listened to. The voice samples ruined the songs for me. Just what I think about him. -
Thanks for the suggestions guys, will check them out. I like the idea of tweaking live while the song is recording, can be lots of fun. But from my experience, you have to keep track of what you're doing otherwise you'll end up 1 hour later tweaking and messing around a lot and very into the zone, haha.

Oxygene is always a great thing to listen to. Can't get tired of it. -
Hmm, sounds pretty nice. It's pretty cool that they have a contest every once in a while.
