  1. I find seeing my psychologst really helps, talking to someone neutral and getting professional opinions. Mostly it's jut learning triggers, avoiding them, and if they can't be avoided controlling the symptoms. I'm experiencing it now as I'm about to go back to studying one day a week & putting my son in childcare for a day for the first time. I get very angry/frustrated easily at these times at my son & wife so I also sometime just leave the room for a period of time to things through. My big problem is that due to experience in life I unconsciously avoid dealing with emotions & try not to feel them. This then turns in to anxiety & OCD. Anyway. Nice to hear others experience it various forms & I wish us all well. Don't be afraid to ask for & seek pro help. It works. I just refuse to go on meds.
  2. Not at all. Even back in the 90's when I ran gigs it was with ppl I saw only for preparation & then at the gigs as most lived 2-3 hours away in the countryside or interstate. Most my local friends were in to raves with uplifting trance, schranz & house. I like these as well & DJ'd lots of Detroit style techno on vinyl. Now I'm older & don't do parties or go, to hard with kids and also it sets my anxiety off. I listen sometimes at home but mostly just ambient & IDM now. Most my friends now are in to pop or post-rock stuff. Some are big in to hip-hop which I love the beats/music but hate the vocals and lyrics. Hence why I'm enjoying this forum quite a lot.
  3. Oh if we're gonna list them all the my major ones are: Front 242 Frontline assembly Throbbig gristle Pink Floyd ColdPlay (great concerts, not a fan of their music at home) Nirvana Soundgarden Pearl Jam Fear Factory Mayhem Slayer Napalm Death Metallica Marduk Sepultura Pantera (3 times) Aborym Rotting Christ Greenday Opeth Behemoth Meshuggah Cannibal Corpse AC/DC Rolling Stones Jimmy Barnes/Cold Chisel Dimmu Borgir Cradle Of Filth NIN Marilyn Manson Rage Against The Machine Ice-T Ice Cube NWA Body Count Cypress Hill Dead Kennedy's And loads more popular & underground. Oh I got paid in the 90's to infiltrate & report on some nations socialist/neo nazi gigs/groups at that time. Absolutely horrifying experience. When I eventually got caught out I had some serious reconstructive surgery after they kicked my skull in . Luckily the info I had help the bring them down!
  4. A new bedside table for the missus. http://m.retrojan.com.au/frederick-side-table-light-natural-red.html
  5. I must apologise as my typing/writing style is a bit confusiing at times. By this point i had moved off topic quite a lot and was talking about how i find it sad that the ability to sell the music sometimes comes first over the quality of music. It was very off topic & I apolgise for that.
  6. Actually it is. Now I've run 3-4 professional venues, worked as a CEO for 2 punk/metal labels as well as having worked back stage for a number of international bands (actually work on the last tour of a international Aussie rock legend band last time they were here, just as a bit of a roadie during their Melbourne stint). Also with a USA pop punk band before they huge in the mid-late 90's. I can tell you there is a huge difference between music made by people who have actual musical knowledge & those that don't. Now this isn't what this thread is about but after 25+ years in the music industry, I can tell you clearly that I have seen many instances where sadly marketing & hype have been used to hide musical failings when those who actually made great music were not "marketable" & fell to the wayside. It happened/happens in this scene as well. I know many wonderful Goa/Psy musicians from the 90's that made AP, Transwave, Etnica etc. sound rubbish but were deemed unmarketable and so these ppl moved on to scenes that they could get work in such as house/techno or songwriting/session work. I can also tell a number of artists on Suntrip for example that obviously have wonderful technical knowledge that makes their "music" sound great but structurally/melodically are rubbish. I'm not a troll, I'm being honest. I know because when I ran & labels I did exactly the same thing. Sign up & market what sells, even if the music isn't great. I even put together bands to play other peoples music because the original musician wasn't marketable. It's how the industry ran & runs.
  7. Explains a lot about the E-Rection remix. It works pretty well but to me it seemed like it lacked a certain something to be amazing, and I suspect that somethig was actual formal musical knowledge. It's something I notice for sure in electronic music in gener, those who actually know what they re doing musical vs those with just the technical knowledge!
  8. Btw enjoy it with your kids. Paul, drummer of Cannibal Corpse, was photographed looking very embarrassed with his daughter & her friends at a 1D concert last year
  9. 1995 - Fear Factory on their Demanufacture tour. Slayer was second, same year.
  10. Why hallucinogen & AP? Their styles are way too different. Now Elysium & Simon P together I think would be get pleasant, maybe with some of the acid of GNOTR to launch it in to hyperspace & Raja Ram to add some TIP madness.
  11. Victorian yes. Don't know exact details. An old ex-friends (lost touch over time) family farm out bush somewhere. We used to throw small parties every weekend mostly invite only. Then Sundays another friend owned a cafe in Collingwood where I ran a Sunday midday-midnight chill out/non-4x4 event. I used to play sets using my parents old classical, 70's psychedelia & movie soundtrack vinyls. Each dj got 3 hours. It was fun for a few years. Then I moved to Japan for 3-4 years.
  12. Abkut $51,000AUD. We've been saving for 4 years for a car, but still needed to take a $15K loan from the bank as well. That's for the fuel model, to go diesel was $54K which I couldn't justify as we also have a $10K bill for concreting our driveway and footpath. At least I'll be comfy & have 9 Bose speakers to play music on when no. 2 won't sleep & I've gotta drive all night
  13. Interesting that it's my fav Elysium. I remember hearing it for the first time out in the Aussie bush in '98 at around 3am just mildly dosed enough to have some very pleasant fractal hallucinations & lose myself in that track. It was followed by Sandman End Of The World which just melted my mind so perfectly!
  14. Budget is tight but got me the Bowmore Legend single malt scotch on sale today. http://www.awardrobeofwhisky.com/bottle/bowmore-legend-main_image.jpg
  15. Oh yeah and Astral Projection. Except for Mahadeva & Powergen all their stuff just bores the hell out of me for now.
  16. Suntrip. I'm sorry but 98% of their releases (I own on cd) I just get bored of halfway through. Blacklight Moments is the only release I thoroughly enjoy. On the other hand I find Sita & Timewarp to be the exact opposite. Pure listenable quality with more than enough variety to keep one interested. Also have to say in the Chillout side of things I find Aleph Zero to be extremely predictable & cheesey except for Shulman and Ooze reissue.
  17. The thing is that I couldn't really care less. If I don't like the music or the way it sounds I won't listen or buy it. It's more interesting to see how defensive Suntrip get over this. They even say it's a minor number of fans saying they don't like the mastering yet they take it so offensively. If they are so balky with their sound then why get so worked up? If you are happy with your products then negative criticism of any kind should be digested, taken on board & then either used positively in the future or else forgotten like water off a ducks back.
  18. With our second child on the way it's time to upgrade our car so bought this yesterday http://www.mazda.com.au/cars/mazda-cx-5/ . In case you're wondering we went with the Akera model. Our old car was 14 years old and starting to fall apart.
  19. Nice review. i agreed with some of what you said, and I do note that from previous reviews from T2MU you don't always enjoy lenghtier tracks of 10 minute or more. This music reminds me much more of wht was referred to as rave" in the 90's at the gigs I dj'd at. It was more a mix of styles and I can hear in these tracks more than just goa or psy. It's wonderful music, but I really need to almost prepare my mind and ears to listent o it. It doesn't just flow like so much else in this genre. It's an intensive experience but it is laid out as a wonderful journey when in the right mood. IMO it's not my fav release from DAT, but I don't enjoy the BPC release t all so this for me is still one of the better releases. Keep up the good work DAT & here's hoping you can influence other still for a reissue of MR1 please!!
  20. aaaah Mubali. Yes I forgot. I saw hime at a gig near Fukuoka in japan in 2006. The day before the gig I had been hit by a speeding car and broke my lower left leg. So no daning for me. but as the special Gaijin guest of the promoeter (he used me to sll more ticket, Japan). Anyway by the time I met Greg I was sooooo drunk on free beer & whisky I could hardly talk but sobered up, hung out for the night & went on stage for his live gig. So much fun, so nice a guy. Just makes deep funky twisted forest tunes. I was invited to the hills at sunrise to drink special orange juice but by then I'd tried dancing on my broken leg and was in agony so went to a hospital for pain killers & to have it reset
  21. Yes I'm very excited to see where TIP goes, Martian Arts deserve a CD album release. Some very modular like psychedelic swirls in their sound.

    Heavy metal.

Actually I do know a band looking for some great synth work to be added to their music. Was kind of wondering if any Goa acts would be keen to give it a try as the bad have so far loved the Timewarp & Sita CDs when I have them playing in the studio between recording sessions.

    Heavy metal.

Not much with synths. Fear Factory are not prog but they do have some great industrial and almost trance like sounds on their Demanufacture album. Most synths are overly cheesey and found more in th epower metal scene. It's fune if you want some light hearted tunes about battling dragons or drinking too much on a Saturday night. I can tell you now that unless it's industrial metal, synths are still pretty heavily frowned upon in the scene. hence why in the mix down and mastering phases any synths are usually puhed to the bottom of the mix. Even live musician on horns & strings are often lost in the mix. Behemoth are prime idiot examples for this. Such wonderfully complex music they make but no respect for their mix down. Sad really as it would add much more depth to their music.
  24. Love it. it sounds like it's straight out from the 90's. Sounds like ppl just having fun making th emusic without aiming to make it for the dancefloor or to be overly commercial. Got this one to give it a try but will definitely be purchasing all their works for sure. Really fun music for a change.
  25. I do think a big problem with this scene and elecetronic music in general now is that labels market it for DJs more than listening, so you lose the unique sound of the artist because it's aimed more for the big sound system. I was at a mate's warehouse last night and played some old Goa vs newer Goa on his outdoor PA system. The older stuff didn't sound great on the system but of course the newer stuff sounded amazing. Yet when I listen to older Goa on my headphones or car stereo it sounds great, where as I find a lot of the newer stuff intolerable on headphones. Interesting how the sound design has changed to fit with the market.
