  1. All the Pantera albums are the remastered reissues. It makes a huge difference. The drums & the bass guitar sound so much deeper.
  2. Will those who pre-ordered the CD get their chance to download via Bandcamp on the 7th of this month? I'm heading over to play a dj set in Malaysia in 4 days & would love to have chance to listen & incorporate some of this!
  3. "Did not certainly" would read better as "certainly did not". Not picking a fight, just for your future reference (I used to teach English, it's a bad habit). I'd not call this dark psy, more an introverted psychedelic trip. I don't know much else like it & the darker side of early Goa/Psy has been discussed many times. I have always found the Le Lotus Bleu Remix on tantrance to be a very introverted trip both on & off certain substances.
  4. So is the downtempo going to be unmixed? I mean it just makes it easier to add tracks to playlists & to dj mix. If ppl want it mixed any one can do it simply using a free basic audio editing program in less than a minute themselves...
  5. Not sure how many of you were aware but Gio is also a film critic for the Japan Times http://www.japantimes.co.jp/author/int-giovanni_fazio/
  6. Love the samples. Has some very nice psychedelic sounding moments which I gather are from the modular gear!!
  7. Can't wait to get the singles! Very keen to get the vinyl, hoping the budget allows for it in time, damn the speeding fine I got today!!
  8. I definitely agree that mastering is misunderstood by most musicians & the general public. Actually i think what ruined it was the introduction of showing who mastered a release on album covers in this scene as a part of the main information. Where I look at older releases it wasn'y such a prominant feature. From my experience it works best if both the artist & technician can be together for the mastering, it;s extremely hard often to explain how you want the sound to be in types words or over the telephone. I've been involved a few times i mastering some local extreme metal bands, and it's one of the hardest genres I think to get the music to breathe as there is so much distortion & it's very easy to make it sound like mindless mud. The album I always look at is Fear Factory's Demanufacture. The way they actuall get alll of the instruments to breathe is amazing, including the samples & synths. The story goes that Dino Cazares was furious at the way the first engineer was making it sound so he was eventually banned from partaking in the mastering sessions. After it was finished he trashed the effort and asked I think Rhys Fulber from Frontline Assemble to master it and again was banned from the sessions. Finally I think he was happy with that version but tweaked it a bit more himself and as i always believe it is the artist who knows how the final product should sound, as it is an amazing album to this day! I find most psychedelic trance in the 90's has a very nice organic feel to it, I often wonder whether much was done mastering wise back in those days. Currently Tim Schuldt is my favourite for a lot of the reissues coming out. He made the Sandman "Starfinder" on Tribal Encore really shince compared to the original. The first time I heard it recently on a proper PA system it just really melted my mind in a great way with no alcohol or other influences.
  9. have never heard his music much except I think for a track on Pulse 2 or something. I'll get this for sure. I'm not a huge fan of Suntrip albums, sorry but I find modern Goa/Psy albums get repetitive to my ear so prefer compilations. But I must say I have enjoyed the Crossing Mind & Dimension 5 albums, and will get this and the Shakta one for sure Keep up the great work & lots of positive vibes from Oz.

Hehe believe me we definitely have our moments fighting etc. especially when my anxiety gets out of control but luckily i have found a good therapist who is helping a lot. We had a big argument recently over dinner, and we never usually argue in front of my son, he was so shocked at our raised voices he just burst in to tears. It made us realise how selfish it is to argue in front of him so now if disagree on something we wait until he is asleep for the night. He spoils us though, he hardly cries. He sleeps all through the night (8pm-8am). He eats well and he is happy to play by himself without needing much attention. He also loves to put on my headphones & spend a good half our playing with my Moog synthersizer lol. It's amazing how much perspective you gain on what is and isn't important in life. i do miss lots of things like say being able to go see amovie whenever or being able to buy music/clothes/music gear etc. whenever I wanted. Now my wife is finally pregnant with no. 2 (last year she had a miscarriage which was very hard for her & me) and so far all is good. Finally I have the excuse to upgrade our crummy old car to something modern & comfortable. I can;t listen to much of the KDD type psy trance any more but I imagine if you translated a day in the life of a 2 year old kid in to pure sound it would be like one of his tracks lol. So intense & stimulated. Anyway, enough blabblng on, I better clean the place a bit before my wife gets home from work lol.
  11. I definitely think Children by Robert Miles could have had a very nice psychedelic remix. That track to this day still gets me emotionally but it lacks a bit in it's basic sound. So basically this thread is asking for what tracks we would like remixed? I reckon Astral Projection around the time of Another World album could have made it amazing.

    V/A - Pulse 3

Thanks, it'll have to wait as it's currently in storage. Might just wait until i get more cash & buy a nother copy via discogs to compare
  13. Thanks for the heads up mate. Yeah I've never been a huge fan of samples in music except when I'm in the mood for house tunes (I know, but house is what I was brought up on before I found Goa). I've loved their first two compilations which says a lot as I'm not a big fan of this modern Goa/Psy sound. I have all the Suntrip & Neogoa label compilations but find the artist albums too much to take as most tracks end up getting a bit same-same. Next on my list to try are the 2 compilations on Timewarp/Ovnimoon. The covers intrigue me.
  14. Really have been enjoying this a lot thanks to all involved. Any new on repressing the first one please?

    V/A - Pulse 3

digipak. It's like all the other volumes. One thing I did notice was that the barcode on the spine was like a big piece of white paper. Usuall or at least on Vol. 2 whichis next to me the code is just printed over theactual cover, no white patch. It really annoys me as I love the first 5 volumes & being a bit OCD I hate only having 1,2,4 & 5 that are listenable.

    V/A - Pulse 3

I bought this second hand last year as mine had been lost over time. Anyway, it looks original with proper case & printed CDs but when I play it the volume just seems really low compared to other Pulse compilations. It's really disappointing .& hard to listen to let alone use as a dj. Anyone notice this or did I get sent a perfect fake?
  17. Seeing the world as a place of pure magic. Now I just take too much for granted. My son is helping me rediscover the world a bit, but even the magic of music has disappeared a bit which is sad.

I like the way that old school Goa & Psy actually really does sound retro. I like salami & jam sandwiches. I like the hearing my son wake up & call out "Dad" until he hears me coming and then when I open his door he goes "Hi Dad" with a beaming smile and arms outstretched for cuddles. He 22 months old. I like falling asleep at night knowing that next to me is the woman of my dreams whom I've shared 16 years of my 34 years with, and a little boy who is the combination of our love sleeps not far away gathering his energy to explore a world that's so amazing the next day. I like that in this day and age my wife an I are lucky enough to be in a position where we can afford for me to be a full time stay at home parent.
  19. Yeah my wife's family is originally from there so over the last 16 years have been there lots. First time take our 2 year old boy though. An old friend from the 90's Goa days is having his 60th & rented a club for the night, asked me to do 4am-8am slot of old school stuff. Taking all my DAT, DAT Mafia, Anjuna Records & Zion604 figure I'll be able it do a nice set of the more acid night stuff leading in to melodic morning style and maybe even doing a little bit of the early prog sound to finish it off. Hoping I've got room for my laptop to record the set although I might recreate in Ableton back in the studio anyway.
  20. Ordered! And it should arrive in time for my trip to Malaysia. I'm doing a 4 hour retro Goa/Psy set at an old friends birthday party in Penang
  21. Despite it's plastic build the TR-8 sounds great. Not overly impressed with the fx & scatter but I've already got some nice reverb, delay & distortion pedals. It sounds really nice & for the price can't ask more. When it's updated with 606 & 707 I don't think there's any reason to invest in pricier anolog emulations. Already got my TR-8 on order. Might get the Akai Rythmn Wolf when it comes as well to up the drum arsenal. These two for live techno gigs will be awesome.
  22. Steve Roach has reissued a 30th anniversary edition of Structure From Silence. It features the original album remastered in 2014 as well as two extra CDs made to flow with the original in 2013. http://www.steveroach.com/store/store.php?item=514
