i have this edition: https://www.discogs.com/Biosphere-Patashnik/release/234007 this one is also very unique: https://www.discogs.com/Hia-Biosphere-Polar-Sequences/release/640(but cd and digital only) Recorded live in Tromsø, Northern Norway, October 95. 'Tromsø, 70 degrees north, in the Arctic region, in the middle of the most active northern lights zone. In summer time, land of the midnight sun. In winter, total darkness. In October 1995, as part of the annual Polar Music Festival, Geir Jenssen of Biosphere and Bobby Bird of The Higher Intelligence Agency, were commissioned by Nor Concerts to collaborate together on a musical project to take place in Geir's home town of Tromsø, Norway. The brief was for them to perform three concerts, using sounds sourced from the area as the basis of the music - the machinery of the local mountain cable lift, the snow, the ice etc… The performances from which this recording is taken, took place on top of a mountain above Tromsø, in a cabin reached by the cable car, in which the audience were transported up the mountain in turn.' also, the tracks he produced as Bleep (https://www.discogs.com/artist/5110-Bleep) were big hits at the beaches of goa in the late 80ies and early 90ies.

i`m with you. the question for me was: what is berlin sound? for the younger ones is it the current berghain sound. older associate with it the sound of maurizio&basic channel together with the old tresor sound (which is also a blend of detroit&birmingham). and you are right with this one:" I don't find debating genre boundaries particularly interesting or enlightening so why don't we go on recommending tracks? " https://www.discogs.com/Francesco-Baudazzi-The-Black-Nobility-Of-Venice-And-Genoa/release/3553175 a nice mixture of hard industrial and some deep-sea-diving like donato dozzy stuff... cheers!

the berlin sound, as you know it from the berghain, orginated from detroit techno, birmingham, downpitched old swedish loop techno, downpitched old schranz and some outstandig psychedelic-autechre-like-idm. the psychedelic focus from artist like regis, surgeon, etc, is on a completly different level than you know it from goa or psytrance. i do not think that they are exclusively focused on beeing raw and banging and i think that they would be quite offended by this insinuation. for example: surgeons rmx for rue east "birmingham" (https://www.discogs.com/Rue-East-Indoor-Culture-Remixes/release/30467) is that only raw & banging ? on a monday morning at berghain ? quote:" The Birmingham sound marked a turning point in the development of techno and its influence can be heard throughout the Berlin techno of the Berghain and Ostgut Ton.[6] It also formed the starting point for Regis and Female's later Sandwell District project.[7]"

...and there is no genre called "psychedelic industrial techno". 80% of the tracks posted here are simply listed as techno (discogs, hardwax.com, rushhour, clone or any other record store) because techno is very psychedelic (of course without that formulary "düdeldüdel" melodies and stupid basslines) and techno is very industrial. that is the essence of techno. no need to open a new genre. if someone wants to classify sandwell district, function, rrose, etc, than most likely to the newer birmingham-techno. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birmingham_sound

when in the goa scene the theme techno comes up, you immediately hear: delta, spirallianz, etc. but this music was never played by techno djs or at techno parties. have you ever heard jeff mills(or any other renowned techno dj) played a track from the socalled "psy-tech" genre?
-
funny thing, the music from spirallianz, midi miliz, the delta, x dream, etc. remained completely unnoticed in techno circles. for a good reason ...
