    Typing this as I listen. OMG... First thoughts are "This is just as good as Portamento!!! Can it be? So dark and tasty!". Then "This sounds like modern infected mushroom would've sounded if they hadn't lost the plot in the late 90's". I might have to come out of my shell and pen my first review.

    Right... I can hear the difference in the samples, but I would never be able to listen to a song and tell you what scale it's in, even if I tried. I've always thought that certain people just "see" or "understand" music (this has nothing to do with being able to appreciate/feel it), and I know I'm certainly not one of those people. I tried very hard to learn a musical instrument at school and just didn't get it. Amazing how deep this (i.e. psytrance/goa/whatever) music goes. It's the most incredible art form.

    Lovely music. I had a big ambient and dub "phase" last year, which kinda died out when I discovered all the brilliant neogoa stuff that's been coming out in the last 8 years or so. Just when I started getting a bit oversaturated with all that, I read T2MU's review of SoulQuark and tried it out today. Safe to say I'm 100% in agreement. Very different: psychedelic yet so emotional. It's early days yet, but I suspect this will remain interesting forever, as opposed to some stuff I've found that gets a bit boring/samey after a while (e.g. Bluetech or Androcell). Also, Basilisk: if you're reading this, you deserve a f*cking Nobel prize for bringing Ektoplazm to the masses.

    Thanks for that. Unfortunately, I don't understand what you mean! However, that's due to my total lack of musical theory knowledge. I can't even define "scale"... Anyway, there's no question too hard for Prof Google.

    Gotta say, I really liked this release too. Not eloquent enough to explain why though! I'm interested in your comment: "To start, Nebula Meltdown really has a lot of conviction to write so much goa trance in major scales, within a genre strongly associated with minor scales, etc" idk much about music, so could you try and explain what you mean?

    Cool, I'm now a follower of the blog. Back to BSF -AURYN: I have to say Star cloister is an absolutely massive track. I never get tired of the way it build and builds and builds.... topped off by the mind-bending climax at 7:20. There is just so much detail and rich layering. For example, has anyone ever noticed the bell-like "schwinnngggg" effect used in this part of the song? Listen to 7:27. I don't know why, but I just love that sound effect! Anyway, well done Luis. I can't wait for your next album.

    I've always liked this, but just experienced something special listening to "the truth" on headphones. This song is epic! Massive scale, deeeeeep layering, and that string instrument coming in at 5:30. It's beautiful beyond description. Well done, EE. Shut up and take my money!

    I can't believe there aren't any comments on this album. I thinks it's incredible. I first noticed JIS on the Call of Goa compilation with "the journey". It was the first time in ages that I actually got physical goosebumps listening to a song. I've only listened through the full album once, and that was while studying. Turns out that was a difficult task; my mind kept wandering to .... Starships warping past blazing supernovae, lasers flickering into the unknown, shattered planets tumbling in the void.... Wow! The standout for me so far is is blessed unconsciousness, but there is so much still to discover. I'm sure this will never get boring.
