Man With No Name - Vise Versa (Perfecto Fluoro)
ravenation replied to Tom!'s topic in General Psytrance
^ Hmm how to explain this in the best way.. In this case I happen to enjoy his newer stuff more than his older. I really like the mature and refined sound he has created. But I wouldnt go as far as to say it is "better" or "worse" as I often dont see the need to apply those terms in music. When you compare track A with track B; sure, one could say one is better than the other. In other words, I dont think this is better than his old stuff, I like listening to this sometimes, and his old stuff sometimes. And this applies to all music, new and old. I hope thats clear. -

^ I never said better. I dont know where you got that from.. I also didn't say I liked this more than his earlier stuff.. I try not to think of music as "better" or "worse". But rather just different. Sometimes you're in the mood of deeptrance, sometimes progtrance, sometimes goatrance.... nothing is better or worse. Imo. -

^ Yes I think you should check it out. Its however very minimal in its approach and if you like the old storming character of his earlier work you will be disappointed at the first few listens. But as I said, its very mature, so it will most likely grow on you. Yes, this is very different from his earlier work. But it is truly progressive by definition, since you still recognize his sound, but it is just so much more mature and evolved. Full On is more like most Infected, most GMS, alot of Electric Universe, late Pleadians, Cosmosis, etc etc. Progressive means the sound is more mature and refined, although that might be quite subjective. The word progressive actually means that the music has grown and moved forward from its earlier counterpart. Full On is technically speaking also a part of Progressive Goatrance, but its more cheese and storming character to it. -
Why is there nothing similar to old SFX?
ravenation replied to radi6404's topic in General Psytrance
check out various Progressive Trance VAs from mid-late 90s. For example: Rave Mission vol 10-14 Trance Rapid vol 1, 2 Dream Zone vol 1-3 (and many more, but you get the gist) Some of tracks included on such VAs will be bad, but occasionally there will be a hidden epic gem in there. Perhaps on your quest to find SFX-like tracks, you will find such gems. -

^ Np I love both of those tracks. I especially like the Paul Van Dyk remix of 1999, but 1998 is nice too. The second track is indeed quite similar to SFX, good ear there I wouldnt actually call those eurotrance though, but Progressive Trance. But the line is so thin its nothing to discuss -

This is truly amazing. Such quality!! I simply ADORE Man with no name, and his last album Interstate Highway is marvelous. It is however, just like APs Amen - something you have to get used to, to fully appreciate. This sounds just incredible. You can really hear that it is Man with no name Just a much much more mature style. I am amazed!! Radi: I am surprised you dont recognize MWNN in this track. I could bet money this was MWNN if I heard it somewhere. I would go "damn! MWNN is makin new stuff! Yay!" Also, how can you say this is Full On??! This is Progressive Goatrance, and quite far from Full On. -
Dark doesnt mean negative. Neither does Light mean positive. Those arent synonyms. There are quite a few dark sounds in this track, and that does not make the track itself dark or negative. Earwall didnt say the track was dark either, just to make it clear. He said the track was nicely balanced between "bouncy and fun" sounds and "dark" sounds, to quote him. I dont understand why you are getting defensive here. OT: Track is ok for being his first track he allegedly made professionaly. But not very great, and the official version of Solstice isnt that strong either.

Thats very nice! Sounds awfully alot like SFX! Good job! @Radi Dont get so defensive. He didnt say SFX sounds like eurotrance. He said it sounds MORE LIKE eurotrance than it does Goatrance. Which is true. However I dont fully agree with the "euro" part. Eurotrance is alot cheesier and more club/pop than the style of trance that would fit SFX. (Alot of great eurotrance tracks, cheesy doesnt necessarily mean bad. Sometimes it scratches the itch just right) Also. Supersaws are not very common in eurotrance. Those are more in general Trance and Progressive Trance. OT: I cant really think of anything that sounds like SFX. Maybe something from Art of Trance is quite similar. -
VA - Analog Dreams [DATCD005]
ravenation replied to draeke's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
After listening to the cd a few times i must complain a bit on the mastering.. I realise the mixing of the tracks are very old and may be a bit wierd from the start, and mastering cant really fix that. But the Etnica track for example. The kick is way too dominant in the mix. But there are other strange things with the album.. the tracks seem to be very different in terms of sound. It doesnt sound like the same mastering engineer did the whole album. Overall I like the warm and analog sound - but especially the kickdrums vary too much between tracks. You constantly have to fibble with the EQ to balance it, and in the Etnica track I have to cut out some of the frequences all together in order to resolve the strange dynamics in that mix. Other than this, its a great CD- 78 replies

No. What? You do realise there are alot of drug abusers in those with various psychiatric disorders? Drugs arent exactly exclusive to one specific group of people? Your logic is really flawed. Besides. Wish people dead and other psychotic breaks are quite common when you have a "real disorder" as you put it.

__READ EDIT__ Contests within a small forum like this is fun. For example.. Person A chooses a sample.. It might be a chorus, an old rocksong sample, a melody, or whatever. But it cant just be a stab or a note... but something to build on... Then person B through X does their own take of said sample Be it house, goatrance, dubstep, psy or whatever! Its just an idea and its fairly basic, Im sure some of you would come up with a better idea. But this will promote creativity, productivity, and getting to know one another, (musically) and perhaps find suitable collaborations for projects in the future. Oh well, just throwing it out there, as a measure to promote more activity on this forum EDIT: This turned out to become a Public Collaboration thread and not a contest

He is not a retard. Thats not very nice to say, as it offends the real retards. He is a confused and depressed young man with various degrees of mental problems. Sometimes he speaks without thinking. And afterwards he is very regretful and have severe anxiety. Although he is too ashamed to come forward with this and apologize... No, Im not defending him. Im just saying what the problem is. He is however NOT a retard.

Allright.. Im just saying, even though the risk might be alot lower, doesnt mean there is no risk. Just be careful is all Im saying. Then again, what I consider loud and what you consider loud is very subjective and might not be the same thing. But thinking that only concerts and such will damage your ears, and headphones and homespeakers will not, is not a correct assumption.
