What do you miss in music/goa/psy-trance?
Multi-Media replied to Mentaloscope's topic in General Psytrance
Haha, interesting....BUT what is even more funny imho is when the producers using these hightech plugins synths are now asking how to get "oldschool" and "dirty" or "tape" or "analogue" sound (back). I find that funny because "back in the days" musicians were struggling to get the best sound. And now this not perfect or even noisy sound is "en vogue" again: And the plugin market is flooded with "analogue" emulations. But why pay much for these? I mean one can easily get some old analogue mixer 2nd hand for cheap and run everything through it incl. the added noise. And use cheapest cables and connectors. Or even record on actuall fuckin tape like int he 70ties LOL Which reminds me of Burzum, the guy from it asked specially for the cheapest microphone in the studio and used the worst amp he could find to record his early "blackmetal" stuff. And guess what it sounds pretty terrible...but it is apparently "KVLT" even if also the songwriting is no the best LOL The repetitions/loopings in his "metal" remind me of techno... I still have such an old small mixer (quite unknown firm, named Prosonic and it was on the cheaper side) and recently re-listened some old recording (from 2003/04 or so), damn some it has some lowfi noise floor. Mixed together in a track it does not get noticed much especially when some of it was in the "industrial" genre anyway where more or less noise is wanted. But listening to the isolated track I was quite astonished by the bad quality and that I actually used it for a song "back in the days" But no one complained in the genre about it, so... -

Perhaps cause you missed my question above - you posted " annoying Rubber bass. I cant hear that "simple one line Bass" anymore." I asked for examples what you mean and to find out if more people could mean the same including myself... And yes, Sandman made some cool stuff, 3 - 4 of his tracks are among my fave psy/goa tracks (but this list is quite long and not easy to define) -
What music are you listening to right now?

One of the nicer DeMo cover versions (with female vox) -
Curious, is there some NEW stuff (after 2010 or so) which....

@Padmapani Well it seems Psytrance suffered a similar fate to Industrial/EBM... remember it was F242, Skinny Puppy; Neubauten, Die Krupps, Haujobb, Pr. Pitchfork etc. when you NOW enter industrial music in Youtube.. some ridiculous music and "cybergoth" dance videos show up and nothing of the top searches is really Industrial like above bands, but what is called now "aggrotech" which seems to be rave/hardstyle. Funny back in the "goth" days we would despise such music LOL And now it is "top" in this broken scene. The same is true for these tutorials there are almost nill for making music like Skinny Puppy... and the why is the same like Psytrance - the good and earlier stuff cannot simply be reproduced - so these tutorial makers shy away from this better older stuff I remember when I discovered goa around 2000 I told some of my "goth" friends about it and they would make fun of me.. liking such "undark" music haha those where the days... Thanks for the UX track gonna listen it on hifi later... -

Ah ja.. of course I also found this name.. but I can hear why someone with not so much knowledge or care would sort some of it into psytrance. I heard 3 tracks from the guy, 1 was - I have not much knowledge of newer genres - more in the "rave" or "dance" category. The other 2 however both had "new style psy" bass + kick drum sound, this does not make it psy BUT.. I can understand someone could sort it there.. Ah BTW, we wrote above about "scifi" feeling and also darker stuff...this here is not 100% true Psy of course, but should fit into these themes - you guys thoughts about the track? -

I wonder if you can post 2-3 examples of these rubber bass tracks ? Cause perhaps it is the same you mean that I think of As for the topic question, I do not miss anything much to be honest, it seems much is explored already. And I do not like eg. vox and guitar in psy anyway. But more psy mixed with ebm is what I could like I guess, using darker style of vox then would perhaps even work But for "newer" Psy refer to my thread "..curious....after 2010..." for what I miss a bit...these days -

@Manuser .. interesting stuff... yeah like most of it..thanx @Paul Eye + @Tsotsi I can hear Morphic Resonance might be a very good suggestion.. thanx Btw. There are a ton of tutorials and templates at Youtube "...how to make psytrance like xxxx" xxx more often than not has Vini Vici (seems to be a newer big name I only heard recently) or Astrix to "replicate" I have not found xxxxx = being Hallucinogen, X-Dream or MFG. Even not Astral P...are they not in fashion anymore? I wonder why...perhaps it is not easy to produce/copy?? Even Armin van Buuren can be the xxx ? Since when did he make Psytrance ? Try yourself with YT search...I found this quite interesting.. even for people like me who do not want to reproduce anything of these artists, might also suggest why so many new psy sounds the same? -

Mh... the KOB stuff seems to be ok for sure, but not really the vibe I was looking for - Kadasarva the same but has to many "random" noises perhaps? Deviant Electronics I heard before - seems more like early / true goa... which is cool, but also not what I was thinking of LOL. Might be my own fault for being so "choosy" (is this an english existing word?) Whow, nice to see Astral Projection here from Sweden even There are 2 more X-D sideprojects you perhaps mean ? Midi Miliz and The Delta ? Guess 1st one is more techno and 2nd one has more indus/dark elements ...edit, or perhaps Dark Soho, which are also darker side ? -

@psytones Thanks, I found your 1st example quite interesting but had only cheap headphones - need to listen on hifi cause the drums sounded a bit strange, but might have to do with the "dustbin" thingie. The UX stuff was ok, but further away from what I m looking for - but it is well produced stuff. The female gated voices spoiled the fun for me a bit (I always think more of house music with these kinda "vocals" @Anoebis Thanks, yeah I noted the MFG release, need to listen again to it....KOB gonna check next @Paul Eye I like the Radio album but think the one before (..created..) was a bit better, gonna check your tipp too later Also from the 1st album like mentioned the track "Children Of The Last Generation" is one of my faves. I noted this remix album: https://www.discogs.com/XDream-Trip-To-Trancesylvania-In-The-Mix/release/35814 Comment says it is essential release, need to take a listen even if not a fan of remixes mostly. Re. MFG, some of my fave tracks must be "Dark Waters, Wonderland + On Mars + Project Genesis" -
SO here the 3rd cover, this is also be the best so far and has more psy elements then the Cure one: This time Sisters Of Mercy (instrumental) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-nTdnbNRgA https://soundcloud.com/alphaquadrant/alpha-quadrant-lucretia-my-reflection-sisters-of-mercy-cover Would be happy if someone subs, follows, likes..it is not easy these days... we have now 20000+ Songs per DAY uploaded to nets at Spotify ALONE.. 10 years ago it was already difficult and not only for small artists but well known electronic bands. Update: Today, an eyebrow-raising update: Spotify founder Daniel Ek told investors this morning (April 29), that “close to 40,000” tracks are now being uploaded to the Spotify platform daily. That, as if you needed telling, is an astonishing amount of music." Source: https://www.musicbusinessworldwide....-now-being-added-to-spotify-every-single-day/

What music are you listening to right now?
Multi-Media replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
Psytrance/techno with indus elements ?: Older piece from me if someone has suggestions for what styles to sort in my stuff it would be cool...(I need this sadly for Spotify etc. later. I can not found my own style there) I have severall where I do not know style.. this is more techno I believe: -
For some reason YT suggested to me at least a dozen times...and now the 13th I went and listen it. It is a nice song, has 107.000 plays, from 2015 and not very commercial. So do not know why YT wanted to get the word out for this track LOL

Do you think Youth talked about Goa trance with Paul MacCartney?
Multi-Media replied to Ormion's topic in General Psytrance
Staffan, thanks for the link, its good music right there... -
I am really cool about IM and the guys having success. No one forces me to listen to it AND... Britney Psy is already there, plus Eminem, Nickelback and Billie EIlish "Psy"... also I noted that titles sorted in psytrance at youtube have up to 10 Mio plays ! I never heard of these artists tho. I can give a link to above tomorrow. Seems "psytrance" is now quite fashionable (if the uploaders/channels did not abuse the terms for whatever reason?). Luckily for me neither IM nor above is competition for my music project - but it is just to much music in general nowadays out there, one goes under in the mass anyways.
-
More "expanded"... I do not listen so much to eg. 80ties wave/pop anymore cause it gets boring over time, same with Metallica/Slayer or "Gothic" or "EBM" (I still like this style very much tho but there is not much new stuff worthy to listen I only noted the last F.L.A. for being cool) ......like years ago..also really true oldschool goa (I mean the minimal 303ish stuff) not much anymore I added more "progressive" styles in Trance and TripHop ala Massive Attack... plus some modern pop like Lorde or Lana Del Ray aahh and esp. M.I.A. (the one from Ceylon?) Also more black metal then 10 years ago
-
My bad, but....no......... and WHO the F is Dana International ? OK.....(not the best voice even Britney sounds better on her early trve stuff LOL)
-
Haha, the 2 x CD History Of Trance Part3 was also my 1st (Original) psy/goa release I bought... I had heard before stuff from party goers which I knew back then, I got tapes from them with Prana, E.Universe, Juno Reactor etc.
-
Ok here one that might be a bit OT it has not much psytrance and is with female vocals. But still very cool... but seems cure fans do not appreciate the change.. as it is the only one I have with more thumbs down. If you like and have a YT please thumbs up. THANKS!! The 2nd oldest piece from 12-13 yrs ago or so... Btw. will make an album timed for late Sept. / Oct 2020.. I am sure fans of (older) psytrance with many other elements as techno, industrial, electro, ambient.. should like this. So I would be very thankful if you like the stuff, spread the word / sub / like / subscribe Ah and this will be of course my own material these covers are more or less for fun projects but might serve as free bonus tracks.

Hi folks, I am back after long time, I also restarted some "music making" now with more psy/goa elements my earliert ones were more dark ambient/industrial/electro... I selected 4 x 80ties songs that in original are not 100% electronic, but my covers are. Will post each one in this thread every week and then show my own creations too So here the earliest one: Taken from "Songs From Fans With Devotion" (Lim CD issue 500 copies) - Note, "Barrel Of A Gun" under the name "Split Effect", but it should be "Alpha Quadrant" this was my 1st "solo" track but had no new bandname.
-
Sounds more like Electro than HipHop ? I do not like hip hop so why would Ilike MIA if it were HIP HOP `?? eg M.I.A. - "Bad Girls" (Official Video) M.I.A. PAPER PLANES official video Also looks like the track might have references to 9/11 (it were paper planes kind of right?), also of you look closely she seems to wear a Metallica shirt in 2 sequences (ride the lighning)? Seems to support that this is not run-of the mill stuff also from the content not only musically...

Young German people seem to listen goa trance
Multi-Media replied to radi6404's topic in General Psytrance
I really do not like House (maybe except some very early stuff), the term electro was as I said for electro-indus or ebm like 242 and FLA etc. Ya know the a bit "goth like" people, even if the music was quite different from the 2 scenes. As I said house was for sure not that I would refer as electro LOL (But I am spitting hairs I know excpecting a younger than 35 or so aged girl to like such music was a bit blue eyed, so it turned out their "electro" was some indi style with perhaps a few keys (why they called that electro no idea, seems more like emo-rock LOL) -

Anyone went to Die Grube back in the days ? There I heard first "progressive" it was announced as goa. I did not like it first - but later discovered some stuff is good... -
Kraftwerk (and perhaps DAF):
