  1. ^ bra skit mannen men colgate white och long distance runner, seriƶst dom beatsen ..... other than that, great stuff <3 sedlighetsroteln and organism 12 was party music for the longest of times. (at parties where trance music was considered "gay" :/ ) and timbuktu was god in 99-04 as far as swedish hip hop.... hey, remember fronda and ebola - efterblivna knarkare? legend-ARY (not that the rap skills are that great, still made legendary status in most of underground sweden) for the non swedes, it raps about doing massive amounts of drugs, getting severe brain damage, and doing voilent crimes. (it is satire) (deja vu, did i post this before somewhere on here in the past)
  2. Swedish hip hop at its finest. Although this specific track was done in English and produced by a guy from Poland iirc. Mix and Master is absolutely flawless. sadly the rap itself is not one of his better. Another superb one, Swedish production too, his rap here is about 100x better. If I had to chose, this one wins, easily.
  3. yeah, but quazar to me (and a few others here) seem to be the one. i completely agree that RA isnt new school (although i do see the merit in him being so) and ethereal is borderline at best
  4. we did find that point though, and its 2001 and SynSUN -Quazar. unless you got a better once in mind Ethereal - all systems are go and RA - To sirius were also great suggestions.
  5. all you said is pretty much spot on, and also what i feel the differences are except this little line here. I think no newschool track- ever- can compete with the heart racing moments some of the old school can. I can make a list of at least 10 tracks - that in my mind cannot be topped (or at least, have not been topped yet) (for example AP stuff from dancing galaxy, hallucinogen stuff from lone deranger, etc etc. not to mention one-hit wonders like juan, domi, jorg - spiritual healing remix, pigs in space - solar, and the absolute stormer that is p.cok - double doper) artifact303, e-mantra and filteria in all glory - they just dont outdo those old school classics. (my humble opinion, by no means facts) with that said i also still enjoy new school more now, than i ever did
  6. why so grumpy paul this is all a friendly discussion about music and genre definitions
  7. this was such an honor and treat to have worked with such a great track =) and the best of luck to you in your endeavours.
  8. yeah i think synsun - quazar is the clear winner. and as for what constitues new school - for me im convinced that the main characteristic is a very clean sound, that the artist worked very very hard on to perfect. as in the old days, these guys were actual musicians, they played actual music, and the music was always in the forefront. the technical aspect of sound design was limited to the gear they had. some gear sounds amazing just from the get go which is why the old school has that sweet analog warm cozy sound quality. but; it happened automatically. now with new school, most producers (certainly not all) use software. with that comes an advantage - they have averything imaginable avaliable to them to truly perfect the mix. it will still not sound as warm and analog as it did in the old school. there, that is what i have learned and concluded, from this thread what the difference are =)
  9. couldnt find a topic.. is anyone going? i was actually contemplating on going..
  10. satori razor is incredible, in fact the compilation Trancentral 4 which it was on, is a must have (ps. i thought the track was called Sirius - Satori Razor)
  11. for old school i think im still gonna say Mindfield - Lets get stoned and watch the freaks. its as goa it can get, to me. for new school its always been artifact303 - feelings.
  12. maybe i was a bit harsh to this reply, because i do agree with you in philosophy. but , from a nerds perspective i do want to get to the bottom of this thing
  13. whaaaat ? what is new school about tetrahedron exactly in your mind? im very interested and i certainly will keep an open mind to what you say
  14. really good quailty on the disc, nearly no scratches at all. case is normal wear and tear. https://www.discogs.com/sell/item/954154424
  15. Meh. Old school and new school is a thing and we certainly didn't invent it in this thread. We are simply trying to figure out what exactly new and old school means
  16. im confused... i couldve sworn this got released back then.... oh well.. better late than ever i guess.
  17. Exactly. These days they have everything at their disposal, thus allowing the artist to truly shape and mold their sound into perfection/the vision they have. Not being limited by certain gear. And just like you said, that very limitation sparks creativity, and now, with no limitations, sadly the musical creativity suffers slightly, which is exactly what I meant above.. With the music almost being secondary to the sound itself, whereas the opposite was true in the old days. I think we found the difference between old school and new school. I'm certain, at least.
  18. Yeah, now that I think about it I don't think ethereal sounds all that new schoolish.. Quazar though, it's really cool it's from 2001 because it sounds newer than that. So, ethereal is out, synsun currently is the winner :p
  19. very nice insights and some food for thought here. but id like to steer back to production style, because new school goa seems to have much more focus in mixing/technical side. More "perfect" like kicks, basslines, hihats, etc. Everything is precisely engineered to absolute perfection (to the best of the artists ability anyway) whereas the old school goa; was much more about the actual music - and the mix and the sound itself was secondary. now, with new school, i feel the sound and the technical aspect of the track is more in the forefront than it was, and the music comes almost secondary, or at the very least; on equal grounds. this is ofc a very broad generalisation, and there are tons of exceptions.. but as to the discussion in the above comments, i think those tracks (MFG, Calfornia sunshine, BPC, yahel) are very old school BUT its a more floaty type of goatrance. (which happens to be my favorite type) I like the way your brain works Psychedelic Superbeast we are really getting down into the core, the essence and soul - of goa here.
  20. nice, ethereal wins! in your face jannis! and chi-ad made old school in 2004. even though Earth Crossing is borderline, production style is more new than old, but music style is more old than new.. who else have made New Old School music? and for me the defining track of the genre is Artifact303 - Feelings. it just dont get better synsun - quazar was really good. 2001? Had missed it, thanks =)
  21. Sounds completely old school.. Koxbox meets slinky wizard meets manmademan. really good
  22. I completely agree on skarma, he has a very nice and warm sound but to my ears it still do sound like software though. And that's fine :)
