Looks like a mantis head to me. Thank you for such an in-depth review. By reading this I clearly understood that this album is not for me, so thanks for saving my time I've also listened to the audio samples from which I got the same impression, but your review confirms this. I guess, I fit your definition of "today’s psychedelic trance consumer" fairly well

Are you a grumpy old goa trancer?
recursion loop replied to SixZeroFou4's topic in General Psytrance
I'm a grumpy old full-on sucker. Fvck me if there was any better psy release than Aquatic Serenade ever. For post-2000 goa I can name Mindsphere - Mental Triplex/Presence and Antares - Exodus - these two really caught my attention. But since I'm not a proper goa guy, these suggestions may be worth nothing -
Thanks, now I see. Perhaps, the Boney-M song is also built on that melody, somehow reworked, to give it some "Slavonic" flavour. Btw, this song translates back to Balkan music fairly well (sorry for going severely OT)
-
Great track, indeed, but the main melody has uncanny similarity to Boney-M - Rasputin
-
Antic, you think Psilocybian is melodic? Ineteresting, the lack of proper melodies is what I dislike about his music. Well, it may be melodic in a sence that it is not completely atonal. As for 5BS, I completely agree that it is genre-transcending and eclectic music, as you say, but this is not enough per se to give it the highest mark. While I really liked some tracks in whole and some moments in some other tracks, there is also a lot of pointless and empty stuff on the album.

Painted by numbers but really well painted, and the numbers are the right ones Nothing groundbreaking but fine proggy stuff, really well produced. Works well as a background for doing something, the whole thing is a bit boring for close listen but there are some really nice sounds and melodies here and there.

I voted 4, but I don't think it may be classified as "a must have for fans of sub-genre" because I don't think it belongs to any existing subgenre having a fanbase, genre standards and all that. If I have to explain my vote, I think it contains some truly stunning moments as well as some pretty pointless ones. E.g. Goblins Talking is probably the most emotional and evocative track I've heard in psytrance for a while, but Symbiosis sounds like a showcase of various synth sounds and production techniques rather than a music piece (it reminds me what various guys at KVR Audio are doing with their modular plugins - they post all kinds of bleeps, squelches and noices which is as far from music as painting with one's tits from El Greco, except that it is nowhere near that sexy). But all in all it's an enjoyable album, with some good melodies, sounds and samples, coherent and distinctive overall atmosphere. At least, it is far more interesting than yet another take on Ace Ventura or E-Clip sound (if anything, my usual listening habits are in "trancey" full-on and prog area)

Sometimes it seems like Psynews is a bunch of old farts trying to understand why the world stopped to be such a magic place it used to be 10 years ago (at least this is what happened to me). Well, the album is great and definitely the Lamat's best, but not what I feel like listening now.

Loud - 5 Billion Star (Nano Rec.)
recursion loop replied to antic604's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Well, Africa 101 and Deep River Song are definitely nice tracks, gonna listen to the whole thing. I'd call this "ubpeat ambient" if such a thing exists, rather than anything trance. -
Interesting tracks, both of them. I love the synth sounds, very juicy. What gear/software are you using? I think the structure of your tracks is too chaotic, there are some nice melodies and sounds, but too much overall radnomness makes it hard to follow the flow of the tracks.

Search for chillgressive (90 to 100 bpm)...
recursion loop replied to Novoice's topic in General Psytrance
Finding albums strictly fitting your criteria is almost as hard as remember what albums don't have any single voice sample. Still, you may try Cosmic Replicant, he sounds somehow similar to Dreaming Cooper or Flucturion 2.0 -
Try Electric Universe, Spirit Architect of Outsiders

Lol, guys, this is exactly the same thing I've told to some other producers here at Psynews, the universe strikes back Well, this is really something to think about. As for now don't have any sence of my own style, I'm just sitting before my DAW and doing whatever I feel like doing, mostly focusing on technical side of things. Thanks for these comemnts, they are really helpful!

I can stare at this forewer!

Leaving various parts of female body aside, I have irrational attraction to these things
-
Thank you! Well, that's a good question. I don't know. I make music which I like listening to myself. I'm not focused on sounding innovative of different, maybe I should indeed. I just like the feeling when these sounds I've heard somewhere else and found to be awesome are coming from my own DAW
-
If you like psytrance then you most probably can "feel" it, you don't need to be a producer for that. Actually, when people share their own music with other producers, they receive a feedback like "this kick needs to be fatter, this synth has too much midrange" etc. In this sence feedback from people who aren't into production but like this kind of music may be more valuable because they tend to see the whole picture not being focused on technical details.
-
Thanks, Anu The previous verison was mixed a bit differently but basically was the same, I made the kick and some synths a bit less harsh. Btw, I was also criticized for the transitions being too abrupt at athother forum, but I think I'll leave them - they make some sence for me as they are

Old skool psy 303 acid | The bass drives our lives
recursion loop replied to Damyfx's topic in Free Music Promotion
The main melody seems a bit out of sync with other elements. Overall I liked it, the synth parts are very nice, trippy and acidic but the mixing needs more work. -
Check out this new tune, comments very welcome!
recursion loop replied to R.E.S.'s topic in Free Music Promotion
Nice proggy tune, I loved the pads and atmospheres here. Well made! -
Thanks, mate! I've just reuploaded the track, tweaked the mix a bit (fvck, the soundcloud re-coding destroys the hihats )
-
Oops, you see how much i know about football Thanks, I'll keep this in mind
-
Thanks! Btw, I'm preparing a better mixed version now, hope to get it released soon.

Taubheit - Going Back (Not Mastered, Work in Progress)
recursion loop replied to Taubheit's topic in Free Music Promotion
Awesome! These melodies ... Man, I really like your music. Are you planning to make releases? -
Come to us in 2018, we will (at least we still are supposed to) host EURO. Also we will have the tallest European skyscraper by this year - you will be able to look at the city from 300 m height, probably you'll even see Finland I know this word - Pietari. Does it mean something per se, or is it just a short verion of the city's name? (we call it 'Piter' ourselves).
