  1. I think that's simply because we are coming from different cultrual context. Here in Russia we have some kind of lowest-common-denominator pop-music with melodies like this one and also incredible cheesy and stupid lyrics, incredibly posh artist images and all that. Like this dude: so this track may be not bad per se but it gives me very bad associations. These Tatu songs probably work better if you understand the lyrics, especially the second one. But I know that Tatu were quite popular outside of Russia so I thought that you may also find something for you in their music - but well, you didn't Again, maybe it's just me and they are nothing special. They definitely aren't an example of intelligent and well-made pop music but there was something charming and sincere about them
  2. At fisrt I was very surprised by this track because I thought that this kind of utterly abominable music can only be made in Russia. Then I googled it and - voila - this guy is a Russian. Sorry, AP, I'm not trying to offend you for your musical tastes and I see how serious was your situation, but I'm literally surrounded by uber-crappy Russian pop-music with melodies like this one, so it gave me instant emetic reflex. There is better Russian pop-music (skip to 0:25) or this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVo5BUq126c
  3. Which one? Btw, this Human Blue track is seriously good! Thanks for posting this, I didn't know about this project
  4. This is fairly easy to answer. This one. Closely followed by this there is a real battle for the third place though. Between this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkPKcD3ExvU and this
  5. Glad that you liked it, AP! For me, this track is the trance how it should be done, sadly there are not much tracks like this released now. Maybe you'll find something for you among these ones, they are old and under-produced by today standards, but in my book they have the utmost trance vibe
  6. Metanoya is good. And so is Kalopsia I think you must know this track, but just in case here it is
  7. I used to listen to this kind of trance (I've actually migrated to psy from this) but now I have some kind of aversion to it. Nowadays it's a very stagnant genre, with the emphasis on production quality at the expence of the musical content (in other words - effing boring) There is another Omnia song with exactly the same synths but somehow better melodies
  8. I like it! Deep and captivating. Mixing is perfect. The kick/bass are expectionally tight and groovy.
  9. It seems that most people here are 30 to 35 years old and were mostly exposed to psy/goa for the first time in the middle nineties. Same here. It was 1996 or 97 when I occasionaly was at some event where they played goa trance. I have no idea what they exactly were playing and I even didn't know that there is such a thing as goa trance (or "trance" in general) back then, but when I heard some goa 10 years later I immediately recognized that it is that music from 1996. From 2006 to 2014 psy/goa was about 5% of my playlist, now it takes 95%. Have no idea why this happened.
  10. The most beautiful outro ever is this It has some vocal lines but for some strange reason they don't suck
  11. If you are curious, here is a more correct translation of Puki's review from Psymusic Google translate usually sucks donkey balls at informal Russian "I don't know anybody from this compilation, all the artists are new to me. To my ears only two tracks sound Suomi, they are 05. Hypnic Lab - Drunky Knight & Shiny Courtesans 08:26 and 07. ADU - Stage Of Illusions 07:52. Everything else is more of Goa but I can't say the compilation is bad, it's the real thing, captivating from the very frist track. New Born truly shines on this compliation, their earlier works were crap but they seem to come to their sences and this track is gorgeous. When listening to this I felt like I'm in Goa surrounded by 20 meter tall palm trees, a small party in 90s, home-made speakers and DJ Jorg at the desk (Zapultom, lol). This compilation will stay in my player for a long time and will get many repeated listens, it's a diamond of our times. Don't miss it, even if you don't like Suomi you'll like this, and if you are new to Suomi at all this is a good place to start getting into the modern form of it. This compilation is the bestest, thanks for it"
  12. How nice Yes, I understand that public image of Russia is now worse than ever and I agree that there are valid reasons for that. But it still would be nice if people were able to differentiate between a country's government and regular folks, especially as far as semi-totalitarian states like today's Russia are concerned. I also understand that the post is one year old
  13. The solution is simple - just sitting before your DAW or in your studio and making music without waiting for inspiration. Been there, done that, and it does work. On topic: I was expecting to hear something really poorly produced and was quite surprised that it is completely opposite. The synths in hypnotrance are real ear-candy. Lo-fi, yes, but sweet lo-fi. Psychosis is agressive and energetic with some awesome squelchy synths. Both these tracks are pretty decently mixed. Thanks for sharing this!
  14. afaik, Bandcamp is just a site where people can directlly sell their music. It doesn't cover anything related to promotion, while Ectoplazm is well known in psy scene, many people are coming there daily specifially to dowload psytrance, so the music goes directly to those who may appreciate it. I couldn't care less about selling my music but getting potentially wider audience would be nice.
  15. Indeed, seems like he is. Then just no idea, the vocals in that track are really bad
  16. Yeah, Apple is notorious for breaking backwards compatibility. No such problems in PC land, though. The only big drama was when major DAWs went 64 bit and the plugin devs had to catch up. Still, all Win DAWs come in 32 bit and 64 bit editions and most of them have a bridge.
  17. Algae Bloom released another album in 2016, here it is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3R7DoWZRx7o The music is not very similar to the Overdream tracks posted above, it's on proggy side, smooth and melodious, but not your typical Iono/Iboga prog, much better IMO. In my book this album is one of the best 2016 releases so far (if we discount one vocal track, maybe Makus recorded his GF, I dunno but otherwise I have no idea why he decided to include it into the album)
  18. Awesome. There is some real storytelling in this track. I remember some your earlier tracks, they also were not bad but you've made a notable progress in making your music really interesting.
  19. Kashyyyk - Inner Explorations is really beautifull. Other Kashyyyk tarcks posted here are interesting but still sound too strange for me. One such track is a refreshing experience but listening to two or more of them in a row is kinda hard Sacrosanct Toukan is really good! The second track (Fiji Island) is not my thing - it does have some melodies but i don't find them ear-pleasing at all. Overdream seems to be related to Algae Bloom, another progressive project which I know and love.
  20. This track posted by Rotwang was definitely impressive, completely unlike anything I've heard before. Not sure if I like it but it is interesting to discover such an imaginative music. Is it darkpsy or what?
  21. Fvck, I was considering Ectoplazm for distributing my stuff (for the case I finally come up with something really worth distribution). Are there any alternative platforms for free psy-related music distribution?
  22. Why uprgading if you have had everything working fine? I use a bunch of SW synths and effects and a Virus TI, everything workds like charm, nothing needs to be upgraded of fixed. My DAW is Studio One 2.6 (the lastest release is 3.smth but it is reported to be buggy so I don't care about it) running on Win 7. I just power it all up and make music (when I have time for this - unfortunately it doesn't happen too often)
  23. For me the combinations of melody/atonal stuff usually sound the most psychedelic. Melody attracts attention, while the strange atonal/unpitched sequences and atmospheres act more subconsciously. Like here
  24. Strangely beautiful and very, very trippy. Don't know what to think of it I guess this is kinda "acquired taste" but well, it is definitely psychedelic music at its best. These Rastaliens tracks posted by Ormion (although they are fine psytrance) sounded like some vanilla radio songs after this. Yeah, Rastaliens are good, I never had heard of them before but liked these tracks (had to take some break from Kashyyyk to appreciate them, though ) But they are from 2007-2008, I don't hear much music like this released today. Btw, I really love some Solar Spectrum tracks, and I've just checked Discogs and it apepars to be proggy reincarnation of Braincell
  25. Tickets - The Toy and Braincell - There Is More On This World are very nice, thanks! Btw, the ending melody in The Toy seems quite "full-onish" but it doesn't sound cheesy or wrong in the context. Thwisted System track has some really awesome chord changes but the sound-design is too agressive and dark to my taste.
